I've given verses upon stoning unruly children from the old covenant in this thread. If you wish to find them look. No where in the new testament does it tell us to stone unruly children or anyone else. Remember, Jesus came to fulfill the old law? Did Jesus himself, in the new testament tell anyone to stone their unruly children? If not, that law is not included in the new covenant. the fact that Jesus had to to keep hiding and running away to keep from getting stoned is proof that Jesus never fulfilled the old stoning law and this is backed up by the fact that you can't present any laws or teachings of Jesus on how to discipline Unruly children without stoning them so Cowboy it's time to give it up and pick up those stones...and search for unruly children lol Jesus never ran or hid, what are you talking about? Give one scriptural evidence that Jesus "ran" away from anyone or "hid" from anyone. sure no problem John 8:59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the middle of them, and so passed by. the fact that people were still trying to stone Jesus is proof that he didn't fulfill or stop any stoning laws |

He hid himself to keep from being stoned, he had much work still to do. It does not say nor infer he was scared, only your wishful thinking there. He hid himself because he became obedient to death when he took on the form of a servant. And again, he had much work to do and does not say nor infer he was scared. |

And I apologize for my original statement of "he never ran or hid". But nevertheless that statement still stays to an extent. He didn't run, nor did he hide out of fear. Again, he had much work still to do and he became obedient to death when he took on the flesh in the form of a servant. |

Cowboy...it's time for you to accept that Jesus ran and hid out of Fear for his life, so if you insist that Jesus is God, then Jesus is an example of what happens if God ever lost his super powers...he becomes frighten of the world that he created and that concludes my lesson on why Jesus didn't fulfill any laws or why else would the people still be trying to stone him...simple logic this is why Christian Parents are still commanded to stone and murder their Unruly little tyrants unfortunately for Christian parents the government deem this command from their God to be murder and against man's moral law and decided to allow Christian parents to "fulfill" their obligation to their God by allowing them to strike their unruly little tykes only with non-lethal objects |

The covenants only hold power until all prophecies are fulfilled. Matthew 5:18 18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. So the new covenant did not take place until - Zechariah 12:10 10 And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for his firstborn. Psalm 22:17-18 17 I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me. 18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture. And the fulfillment of pslams - John 19:23 23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout. So no, the new covenant didn't come into effect until these prophecies had been fulfilled and others, but this is a good breifing of the prophecies that had not been fulfilled until Jesus' crucifixion. |

and that concludes my lesson on why Jesus didn't fulfill any laws or why else would the people still be trying to stone him...simple logic The covenant was not completely finished until Jesus was crucified. The covenants only hold power until all prophecies are fulfilled. so now you admit that while Jesus was alive, that the law on stoning Unruly children to death was still in effect and since you couldn't present any new law pertaining to the discipline of Unruly Children, therefore that same stoning law was still in effect even after the crucifixion and that is further proof that Jesus didn't fulfill any laws of Moses and that Christian parents must still stone their unruly little terrors |

When the law is fulfilled and all prophecies are completed, the law holds absolutely no more power. It's not like Jesus came to alter the first. And anything he did not teach on, still holds. No, the ENTIRE old covenant and it's laws have been fulfilled. The ONLY laws we have now, are the one's Jesus gave himself in the new testament/covenant. Which does not contain stoning children or anyone else. Jesus has told us not to judge. |

No, again Jesus did not come to do away with the law, he came to fulfill the law. Jesus was to busy running and hiding to fulfill any law Cowboy you can forget about trying to get me into a useless debate about what "fulfill" means ... I'm going to stick with the fact that you failed to provide any passages or teachings of Jesus about ending any stoning laws for Unruly Christian Hellions before or after the crucifixion |

What are you talking about? The first part of the definition "bring to a completion". He fulfilled the old covenant, he brought it to a completion. And with it being brought to a completion, he gave us another covenant to take it's place. |

Matthew 5:17 17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. In that old law he is speaking of is where the stoning of unruly children lay. Then fulfilled the prophecies of that law, thus completing that covenant. Thus why he gave us a new covenant, which does not include stoning of children or anyone else. |

??? What are you talking about? Jesus said that he did not come to change the laws of Moses...and you here trying to make him into a liar you're being an Unruly Believer |

He "changed" nothing. He FULFILLED it, brought it to it's COMPLETION, FINISHED it. When something is completed or finished, it is no more. Thus, he gave us a new covenant. He altered nothing, he completed, finished, finalized the first one and gave us another. |

We had one set of laws, one covenant. It's prophecies were fulfilled, so it ENDED. There was no more covenant after it was FULFILLED, BROUGHT TO AN END. We were then given a NEW COVENANT. |

Cowboy..if it ended..that would mean it changed ..... No it doesn't lol. If it would have been "changed" it would have just been altered. For example purposes of fulfillment and what happened. Not specifically the same in the fact of exactly why God made a new covenant. But for purpose of example to show the different of changing something or fulfilling and starting a new - ==================== Example of changing. ==================== - You have a piece of paper that you plan to draw on - You decide that it's not as good as you think it could be. So you throw it away and start a new. - So you decide to make another drawing on another piece of paper =============== ==================== Example of changing. ==================== - You have a piece of paper that you plan to draw on - You make a mistake, so you erase part of it and correct it how you think it should be. ================ One is starting a new and one is altering the original. God completed one and started another, he didn't alter the original. |
