There are many other abuses of the system besides drugs! The whole system needs to be put to some serious oversight!

Exactly right Ms. That's why there should be some form of control on these frauds ie. drug testing for recipients makes sense.

But not in todays economic condition. Drug testing will prove to be
cost effective in the long run and will have positive results. Let's give it a try. Hopefully all states will soon follow.

I think that I would would rather waste money that way than the other. Thinks of the lives we could save.

I think that it would be better to waste money then. Think of the lives it would save.

no kidding

so, is the belief here that to save a few pennies in monthly ASSISTANCE for someone to eat and survive,,,,they are going to use these tests to spend hundreds of dollars to 'save lives' of addicts by getting them treatment,,,?

think again

its not about saving lives, its about the fear tactics making people scared that their 'hard earned dollars' are going to some 'lazy' drug addict somewhere,,,,

Ms, you don't understand the reason here.
Hard cold fact..People use their food stamp, welfare money to buy illegal drugs. Don't try to deny it, it's a fact.
Who want's to fund that? You?

Your right, I only see the mentioning of 'crack kills' in the thread about testing welfare recipients and the pictures.
Silly me to jump to such a conclusion.

people also use their prescription drugs to sell for profit

thats because SOME people are criminals,

should we insist upon , implanting chips into patients to make sure their drugs are going where they are supposed to?

or would that be a bit too 'invasive' for the sake of trying to decrease fraud,,,,,? and a total waste of money,,,,

No, that's a good idea! We should do that after full drug testing is implemented. I think that drug testing for welfare abuse will be here soon. Texas is soon to follow.

I am all for it. No this isn't the governments money, it's the tax payers money. If we want it and vote for it it is not unconstitutional. Welfare is not a right. No one is forced to take a drug test. You can refuse welfare if you wish. If you can afford drugs you can afford food and shouldn't need tax payer dollars.

but if you CANT afford food, you should be able to afford a drug test just so you can GET food?

no, welfare is not a 'right', but it is a part of the BUDGET that ALL AMERICANS pay into for a majority of their life and it is a part that ALL americans should have access to in return,,,

theres too many men laying down and walking away

INCARCERATE THEM ALL, make them work, and send EVERY PENNY to their children (their room and board is provided already in prison)

when these male legislators start making the MEN the target instead of the abandoned and struggling mothers,,,I guarantee that part of the budget will be reduced significantly
