Do you think it's acceptable to answer your phone while out on a date? What about texting? Do you text or answer calls while on dates?

ummmm,,,ok

so,, my answer is ,, I think its rude to be on the phone while attending to or being someones 'company'. ITs as rude as interrupting or inviting a third party to a closed meeting.

I'm not big on texting....if my phone was to ring and it was someone within my family then yes I would answer it. But make it short and sweet...Never know when something may happen. But now to answer it and have a long conversation just makes my blood boil...

Had some friends that we had invited over to eat a few times... Every time we did one of their friends would call. Always the same one called she would call the girl talk to her for like 30 min or more then turn around and call him knowing they were at my house...Now that yeah pretty much peed me off needless to say after twice of inviting them over did not do it the third time. To me that is just completly rude.... noway

May look at the screen to see if its an emergency (mom or kids), but no...otherwise. would expect the same.

Over a year ago, went to meet someone for first meet, and she got on her phone and was texting, laughing but didn't say anything about it, so I stopped talking....Waited...for over 10 mins. Still going... so said I was going to get a new coffee and then texted her. Nice to have met you have a great evening. May want to consider leaving that in your purse when your meeting someone. If your not interested then just say so.

She said she was interested but was pissed at me for leaving and didn't get it. Oh well

I'm always going to answer my phone on a date or any other time. 1) I'm on call 24/7, so it's how I pay the bills and 2) I ignored 2 important phone calls in the past and I will never do that again. If it's not important, I will cut the call short, but I have to at least find out what it's about.

Only if it was an emergency of some sort, otherwise I would keep it off.

She excluded you from the date by texting,
and she is pissed at you?
Some things, it is good to find out early.

Rude!

Emergency is understandable, but permanently attached to it would be a problem.

I find it rather rude and inconsiderate, unless it's an emergency of some kind.

I turn my phone off ,
I would expect the same or at least on Vibrate.
At times we need to know things. Then there is time for down time from the rest of the world. flowerforyou

I'm on call 24/7 ~ I gotta answer it ~ unless I'm on vacation.
It's always on vibrate though if I'm 'out'.
If it can wait, it will wait but I don't always have that choice.

If it's a possible personal (friend/family) emergency I'd text quick to see if it could wait.

I always explain what I'm doing to try to lessen the rudeness though.

People who hang on their phone, either texting or talking, while I'm with them ~ pretty rude ~ date or not.

I suppose it depends on who it is really. However, there is a kind way to excuse yourself to answer it.
