you are all missing the point here! These days couples use their smartphones to communicate with each other. Yes, on a date! :)

Ok...suppose most couples use thier phones for chat instead of speaking to each other....

let me know how it goes trying to jamb your penis into your phone.

If you really believe that texting is the way to your woman's heart....allow me to grab you by the throat and show you reality.

You are probably right. I have only been getting laid for 30 solid years from what I know.....

Tell us the point that the rest of us are too dumb to understand.

Tell me what I have been too stupid to figure out.

When you don't answer....I will understand.

Yeah, I have some friends who are married and text each other in their own house while hes up stairs in his office and shes downstairs doing whatever.I think that is lame. A "smart phone" would tell you to get off your *** and go speak in person before they find someone who will! Imagine Archie bunker with a smart phone.

Edith, get me a beer! Leave it by the recliner, I'll be downstairs soon

When they come up with a phone with a mouth.....women won't stand a chance.

Lots of people are saying that they only answer in cases of emergencies.

Okay, question: How do you know if a call is an emergency, unless you answer the phone?

Archie Bunker was supposed to be the villain of the show, but he was loved by millions. He's still quoted, imitated and he had a spin-off. The show lasted nine seasons. Nine seasons is a pretty good run for a sitcom.

EDIT: Not to mention the spin-off that lasted four seasons.

Your absolutely right. Chauvinist, bigotry, ingnorance. Not sure how they got that on air but times were different. That Schitt won't fly today. Dysfunctional family at finest.

I've wondered about this. Maybe someone who answered that way will respond.

Yes it was pretty successful and O'conner was a great actor. Not the greatest role model though, it taught more of what not to do in my opinion. Pretty funny if you can separate reality and tv. Some can't. Some of my grandparents generation did actually buy into those ideals in many ways.

My family know that when I am out, I don't answer my phone. So they would only call in an emergency. I am primary caregiver for my 83 yr old Dad....so My date knows that. If my phone vibrates on a date, I excuse myself long enough to check it. If it is family...I answer it.
If not, I ignore it and proceed with the date.

For me, since I have two girls that aren't always with me and also have my Mom in and out of the hospital, just looking at the screen would most likely be enough to know if I need to take the call. If its because of work that's a different story. It's about being open, setting expectations and how it is handled, that's important.

I was just curious, as there's no way for me to tell just by looking at who is calling to tell if it's an emergency.

I just turn the phone off and check the phone after the date. Fact is some people don't even own cell phones. Before cell phones came out; people seem to date just fine without one and seem to handle emergencies just fine without cell phones. I am curious how people handle it when their cell phone battery dies or they just don't get a signal in some locations. Do you go into panic mode? laugh

Do you think it's acceptable to answer your phone while out on a date? What about texting? Do you text or answer calls while on dates?

If you have to ask then I'm guessing you already know the answer.

I rarely have my cell phone turned on. I keep it in the car for emergencies. I just got a new one that I can barely work.

That said, everyone else seems to keep their phone with them all the time. I have been in meetings with people who answer the phone and take care of business while I wait. I think that is just rude.

The same thing goes for a date. If you set aside time to be with someone, turn the damn phone off. Life went on before they were invented.

Oddly enough I find myself agreeing with you on this.

As to you not being able to work your new phone I find that odd since you have all the answers to How Three Towers fell in one daylaugh laugh laugh

As you can see, I am asking everyone here. This isn't about a specific person.

Only emergency calls should be answered and no texting
