I think because some relationships are just about sex. When the sex ends the relationship either has to evolve to a higher level or just stay at the beast level. The beast will usually threaten the relationship by ending it. At least in seems that way in some of the animal kingdom.

I guess that would depend on whether you stated that you wanted more than just sex from the outset.

If it was a purely sexual relationship from the start and after a few months, you decide that you want more, then you’re changing the goal posts on him then I’m not surprised that he left.

I really don’t know what the key is to a successful relationship but in my mind, honest communication is definitely one of the contributing factors.

Any new relationship first starts with attraction and sex. As we evolve in the relationship, then values come into play which defines the relationship. But ... I must say, even values are forgotten and the relationship is doomed. Sex is great ... but there has to be more to life than that - otherwise we become nothing more than animals. This of course is relative to a relationship that has been ongoing for some time and not meant to be this way in the beginning. I've met many people during my years, and I must say in the end, I am more than disappointed that people have no values. Very sad, but true. But again ... this is based on my experiences and no one elses. There are many great people out in this world - but we are the ones being poo pooed on by the ones that don't care about anything but themselves. Ooops ... totally off the topic here!

Probably because sex entered the relationship too early. All guys, and probably all women, want sex. If sex enters the relationship early, before there is a connection based on common interests and mutual respect. If there is no real foundation to a relationship before sex, then when the sex slows the relationship is doomed.

To me sex is important in a relationship. You need the physical connection as well as the emotional intimate connection.

I personally wouldn't waste your time on those that aren't concerned with your wants. You deserve to have all your needs recognized and if they are threatened the "wanting more than sex" Huge waste of your time.

but the sex doesn't have to slow down - if it does then in my opinon, anyway, there are other issues

if a couple isn't totally in sync the sex will not be as good - this includes divergent goals for the relationship interfering with closeness

if one of them wants more than "just sex" and that is refused, the other partner will not likely be as enticed as in - I aint sleepin wit ur azz NO MO if u don't buy me a ring
