Out of 2564 vetoes only 110 have ever been overridden in the history of the US.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_presidential_vetoes

thats great, sure meant alot to people like Pierce, Buchanan, Johnson, Nixon, Ford, and George W Bush

the 'trend' varies greatly depending upon the President and THIS president has had close to nothing but a fight against ANYTHING He has tried to support,,,

111th congress held 56 Democratic seats out of 98 seats giving the majority to the democrats 2 of the remaining 42 were independent. The democrats held a majority of the house for the first time since 1994. How exactly was he opposed at the onset of his presidency??

because 56 is still not two thirds of 100

and those republican seats held out as often and as long and as stubbornly as anyone can

and by november of 2010 that slipped to a 51/47 dem to repub ratio with repubs being just as 'anti obama' as ever

So the heck what, a great chance to stand up for freedom and democracy and he FAILED, boo hoo so the republicans were going to hurt his feelings.

This was a fight he would win and should have tried if nothing else to make the republicans out as the party against the constitution. Its a no BRAINER!

Fact is they want that power they know the game is about up and they are postitioning themselves for the kill wraping themselves in legality to make it legal to ship off discent for no damn good reasone.

I guess if you can't beat them then join them. Just make everyone a terrorist. Everyone is a terrorist under this new regime. Finally, equality for all. No more stereotyping about what is good or bad. No more questions about what is good or evil because such considerations are considered archaic. Terrorism for all. One world under terrorism.

So why the heck didnt he veto the bill? action speaks louder than words. They say anything you wish to hear to sooth its what they do that counts.

Yea Nixon said he wasnt a crook.

Clinton didnt have sex ( he got a much deserved blow job)

Bush said "read my lips no new taxes"

Bush Jr said "Misson accomplished"

He had the chance to be a hero to the right and left and every damn one of us who believes in Habius Corpus.

Its the american way
well it used to be.

Do you feel safer? Will you feel safe to speak out against tyrany knoweing that if the powers that be wanted you hauled off and tortured without a trial they could?

Probably not this administration but when you look at it from an extreme point of view it could evolve into it. Instead of executive powers it could evolve in a form of dictatorship like martial law.

Stated something about...

No matter where you live, foreign or abroad, this country (USA) has the right to arrest and imprison any individual they believe to be a threat to this nation; without cause, without trial, without informing a single individual who knows you.

..or, so that's basically what I got from the whole thing.

2011 DAA changed the authority, domestically, from civil to military (commanded by the american despot in the white house ( who is directed by the despots in boardrooms who bribe him). We are now a militaristic fascist state at any point it amuses the despots.

That time will come when the 99% movement hits its stride, when the poor have no food and no foodstamps, when the pensions and social security gets the final lootings and all crap hits the fan, then of course it will be to late.

or maybe not

According to the Congressional Record, through November the House had approved 326 bills, the fewest in at least 10 non-election years; the Senate had passed 368 measures, the fewest since 1995.

the 'indefinite detention' aspect that so many whinge about was first ENACTED And made law under the AUMF after the 9/11 attacks

but everyone keeps trying to place it on this administrations shoulders because a NEW bill 'backing' that bill up wasnt vetoed

a bill that appropriates funds and authority for the military and covers alot more than that ONE aspect,,,,

IM sure the foodstamp thing will not be something that will be placed under the responsibility of this administration, nor the pension or social security thing

but of course, it may take longer to have another 'revolution' while we wait for those upstanding private industries to handle those funds instead,,,,

YUp and Obama will be remembered as the guy we elected who allowed the law to pass without veto and little or no public discusion.

Like those faceless burocrats in the Nazi movment they just signed the laws and warrents and did not dirty their hands.
