so there is this bartender at this bar i got to. She is friendly and I always assumed she was just working her tips. Last night she wanted to bet me dinner on game number one of the world series.. I won and she is gonna take me out for dinner. Is this just being friendly fulfilling an obligation or is this a date?

Does it really matter? You are going out. Enjoy the conversation, friendship and meal. After that it is all cake. If you have a nice time return the favor. Do not make it complicated.

Sounds like a great time. Just go with it and enjoy it.
Considering other factors age, her status, yours, you can decide if it is actually a date or being a classy lady and not welshing on a bet. Would not jump too far concludeing it is a date. Be equally gentlemanly at this dinner. I would think some kind of baseball related souvineer would be a nice thank you gift after the date if it is a rather expensive dinner. As a working professional she probably would be insulted if you make her feel you are just "tipping" the invitation. |

Are you the only one she made
this bet with? |

Sounds like a date, if you like her just shut up and go with it.

If you end up agreeing on a day/time/venue, I would say it's a date.

I think its a date. She decided the bet right? Either way you would be going to dinner together. Thats just my opinion though.

She agreed to the bet. Just go out and enjoy it. It's a free dinner. (but, leave a good tip)

sounds like a date to me. If there was no interest...would the offer ever have been made, accepted????

It's a date. Doesn't mean a romantic date, but It's still a date. Ever hear that expression "it's a date"? Well I think of a date as anytime you are meeting a person.
I've travel too much haven't I? lol |

I surely wouldn't bet dinner with anyone i was really interested in,, way to awkward sitting with a stranger

Who cares....it's FREE FOOD!

It's a bet she lost and is paying up what she bet....
Now on the other hand most likely she would not have made the bet with you unless she wanted to go out with you... Therefore enjoy the pay back never know you may actually hit it off and then there could be a offical date.... |

Its a safe bet since its hedged that you win either way.
