skinheads still run wild up there, there was about 8 racial killings up there in the 4 years i was there... how many in galveston?
No question. Oregon has its skinheads. Right next door to Idaho and its White Arian Nation. It's also the state that delivered a record verdict against white separatist Tom Metsger.

But what does any of this have to do with Texas' general attitudes on race and, in particular, Ron Paul? These oh-yeah-well-what-about-you arguments really don't help promote your positions at all.

I think the point is that you are generalizing an entire state and the people when every state has racism. Texas is really no different than other states. Racism is every where but not everyone is racist.

Well said.

This reminds me of Obama refusing to put his hand over his heart for Our National Anthem.

All the people that supported Obama said he had a right in this country to do that. Free speech.

I agree, he has that right. but the question that never did get answered was, Do you want the leader of our country to be a man that does not respect our country enough to lift his hand for Our National Anthem? Apparently that answer was yes.

Trump is a big money crook. Remember that this is the guy who tried to strong arm and old woman out of her house so he could build a new casino in Atlantic City, she took him to court and he lost.

Ummmmmmmmm, that is a play off the famouse story where he saved an old lady and her farm after her husband died, which made him extremly famous and popular.

No it isn't, this happened in 1998 and almost turned him into a pariah.

my position? my position is that if you don't know what your talking about, then you shouldn't talk... you never did answer my question, how many racially motivated killings have been in Galveston?... Pasadena might be a bit racist, but the area your talking about is clear lake, which is all nasa people, no racist there, pearland, rich people live there, and gaveston, a tourist spot, with no racism...

Then he wasn't trying to tell me that what I had learned about racism in Texas was right or wrong. He just wanted me to know something about racism in Oregon. Sorry. I still don't think that Texas is just like Oregon. The point of this exchange was about Ron Paul. We are no closer than before. We had to take time away to discuss skinheads in Oregon

I fully admit I generalized, much like you do when you talk about liberals. So, you say that, because the Clear Lake area is affluent, Race does not tend to be an issue there? Weren't the Viet Nameze fishermen targeted pretty visciously down around Galveston area?

that was because fishing was very tight as it was before more people showed up with fishing boats adding more fishing pressure to already taxed waters. it could have been Vietnamese or people from Florida.

you are still missing the point. Of course there is racism in Texas just like in ALL states and countries. Generalizing a state in an inflammatory way is no different IMO than doing the same to race, gender, sexual preference, religion or politics. Generalizing is inaccurate because saying all or none of something simply isn't true.

As far as Ron Paul goes, what I have read about him regarding racism isn't conclusive. There is no proof IMO, just speculation and I don't slam the gavel and pronounce judgement simply on speculation.

I am born and raised in Texas (so is most of my family) and I assure you I'm not racist

I have no problem if you dislike Ron Paul because you feel he is racist....but it has nothing to do with the fact that he has to be racist because he is from Texas

Chris Christie (who says he isn't running) is the Governor of New Jersey. You can watch a lot of his speeches on YouTube. He's a low tax, small government guy who understand the problems with public sector unions. His strongest quality is that he is very good at explain conservative policies and principles.

Herman Cain is a business man who saved the Godfather's Pizza chain from bankruptcy. He also famously confronted President Bill Clinton on Nationalized Healthcare. Just like Chris Christie, he is also excellent at explaining conservative policies and principles.

i can't really say that was a racial issue more than a money issue... the fisherman need to live too, and perry's bills have made it hard for everyone... but i would side with the texans on this, it is no worse than unions going at it over territory rights...the same thing happens when non unions infringe on the unions domain...

So, race isn't an issue in the Clear Lake area? Honest. I don't know. I'm just going on what I read
