Topic: Are Atheists Open for a Chat?
CowboyGH's photo

You guys should give it a rest. You don't believe the same way. Period. Neither one is going to convince the other of anything. Right?
So why not just give it up?

The general religion chat is supposed to be a place to discuss different religions, not a place to beat each other over the head with your personal opinions.

Cowyboy, everyone in the world by now has heard the claims made by Christianity. There are churches on every other street corner. You are not going to find anyone who has not heard what you call "the good news."

Good news to me, would be that I won the lottery or something.

I've tried to end this foolishness with Cowboy for months now.

I've told him countless times that I respect his belief in Christianity to be a valid form of spirituality and I don't question his relationship with any God, or judge him in any way.

All I have ever asked from him is the very same respect. He refuses to give it.

Speaking of "good news", I don't consider a religious doctrine that proclaims that only FEW make it into the kingdom of heaven whilst the VAST MAJORITY are cast into a hell fire to be "good news".

Sounds like pretty bad news to me.

I do not refuse to do as such, I've not once said you don't have a relation with God. I've not once said you weren't going to share in the paradise which is made for us. I've not once said your beliefs are wrong. You believe what you believe, there's nothing I can do to change that nor am I trying. We are merely here for discussion.

It's one thing to say if you believe or not believe ONCE, after that we understand. And it's ok to say you don't believe, but when you start proclaiming them to be hearsay folklores and the god we worship is inept is when again it becomes an insult.

I'm listening to what you are saying my friend. I just don't agree with what you are saying.

The bottom line is quite simple. You are on a mission to shove your dogmatic religion down the throats of others. When they give their reasons why they don't accept it (i.e. they feel that it's utterly stupid and most likely just ignorant fables). Then you claim insult and injury.

That's hogwash. All they are doing is telling you why they refuse to accept your dogma as the "word of God". They are trying to tell you that they don't believe that it is intelligent enough to be the word of any God.

You say:

There is no need to continually state it. It's one thing to say if you believe or not believe ONCE, after that we understand.

Well, you haven't shown and understanding at all.

You continually come right back at me with more excuses and attempts to try to convince me that the dogma isn't stupid.

So obviously you didn't understand.

And moreover, when you do that, I'm just going to try to re-explain to you why I don't accept your excuses for the dogma.

What you're doing is continually trying to SHOVE your dogma down my throat, and every time I spit it back up at you, you claim insult and injury and just try to SHOVE it right down my throat again.

I regurgitate, you claim insult, and SHOVE away again relentless.

You won't be happy until I swallow it and quit regurgitating it.

But that, my friend is never going to happen. This is why attempting to proselytize your religion to non-believers of your religion is FUTILE, and will only result in them telling you why they do not accept it. And if there reason is that they feel that the dogma itself is stupid and insulting, then that's their reason.

The whole sacrificial lamb thing where you are demanding that I must accept that a God had his totally innocence son crucified to pay for my sins is a totally SICK DEMENTED concept, as far as I'm concerned.

And I find it highly insulting that you would suggest that God would be like that, or that I would be in need of having someone crucified on a pole to pay for my sins.

Your very religious dogma OFFENDS ME!

I find your entire religion to be highly insulting, not only of me, but of any spiritual essence or beings that might even actual exist.

I find your religion to be an INSULT to humanity!

As well as an INSULT to any divine essence that might actually exist.

So I find you to be the epitome of insult because you refuse to quite proseylitzing your own personal warped version of Christianity on the GENERAL RELIGION FORMS.

How do you like them apples? drinker

If you want to believe in Christianity more power to you!

Don't be trying to SHOVE it down my throat or I'll just throw it up all over you!

And if you're insulted by that I have absolutely no sympathy for you whatsoever. You religious arrogance is unbearable. And I personally find YOU to be highly insulting.

What you're doing is continually trying to SHOVE your dogma down my throat, and every time I spit it back up at you, you claim insult and injury and just try to SHOVE it right down my throat again.

You're truly not hearing me. You don't believe it, that's fine, enough said. I'm not shoving anything down anyone's throat. You don't believe, again that's fine. But you continually claim them to be folklore, fairytells, hearsay rumors, ect. It's one thing to state you don't believe in someone elses beliefs but it's another when you downgrade them to "folklore, fairytells, and rumors". If you do not wish to hear about God, I would suggest not talking in the GENERAL religion forum. General religion meaning any and all religions may be discussed here. Not going out of my way to shove anything down anyone's throat, just coming to discuss.

I would like to try to change this topic just a bit without getting too far off topic,,,,

I can appreciate and recognize what ( I think) is your motive. I ask as a fellow christian who ( I hope ) you know has admired and been fond of your faith since you first started posting,,,,how far do you think we should go to spread 'the word'?

I am of this philosophy: God Bless the child who has his own. Applying that to faith ,I tend to truly believe that people are 'touched' in some way or another to SEEK GOD and to SEEK the word,, and that nothing we do or say on our own can make that happen without it first happening through Gods will. Do you remember the story of Saul? Perhaps one of the biggest religious critics of his time until GOD touched him and changed his life.

Perhaps we should be careful not to take over what GOD has the power to do(change lives and minds and spirits..)

It is not going to be possible to share information with anyone , on any topic, who does not truly RESPECT your knowledge of the information. None of us can MAKE anyone believe or not believe, that has to start in side them. And if anyone has started inside of them a DESIRE to seek God they will be open to information on how to do so, but ONLY from those they trust have knowledge. I trust the knowledge you share most of the time but there are times when others CLEARLY dont and I would suggest lovingly , that you not continue to 'squander' it where it is not wanted or accepted(for whatever reason).

Cowboy,

You are doing the same thing as Abra. You call it TRUTH, and he calls it MYTH AND FOLKLORE.

If you will stop calling it truth, then maybe he will stop calling it what he thinks it is.

Realize this, you are doing the same kind of thing to him and he is insulted, and you are in turn, insulted by what he says.

Just stop it.

We are sick of it.

If you two want to continue your silly insults you can do it in private emails can't you? Most of what you are talking about is off topic anyway.

I insult nothing. I've a couple times insulted his beliefs yes, which I apologized for. When talking a discussion especially in a discussion forum both sides will present there side as if it was absolute truth. That's how discussions are done. But the insult area is when one literally demeans another's beliefs or states their belief is inept.

The ancient Hebrew doctrine is in PUBLIC DOMAIN. Nobody owns it.

The Jews do not accept that Jesus was the Christ, so they too are saying that the New Testament is hearsay rumors or misunderstood folklore.

That is a VALID view.

My views on these same historical writings are just as valid.

You are totally over-reacting.

These are ancient stories that claim to say things about the creator of all humanity. I am a human. I have every right to comment on these stories.

You have no right to claim that this is a violation against you or your religion in any way.

Cowboy, I did not accuse you of "insulting" anyone. I stated that some people hear what you say and are insulted by it. One statement is active and the other is passive. See the difference?

Examples:

Cowboy insulted Abra.

"Abra was insulted by what Cowboy said..."

Yes very true. But there is a difference. I'm not here to convert anyone, not here to make anyone believe, just here to discuss. They say there side, I say my side, we go separate ways. No damage done, no harm done. Just merely discussion. But that changes when one starts insulting another's beliefs and demeaning it to fairy tells, folklore, ect.

What do the jews and you have anything to do with one another? They do not spread insults about the Christian faith. I am not talking with the jews right now. They are not here stating that it's all folklore fantasies fairy tells. This is between you, I, and the other posters of this forum. No one else, no one less. Don't bring people into this conversation that isn't here. The Jews say they do not believe them to be true, that's fine just as I've said that's fine you see it that way. They are not the one in this specific discussion anyways stating God to be inept, and on top of that, you'll never hear a Jew state that. So your point is moot.

And even though the Nation of Israel itself
has not accepted Jesus as Christ,
there are many individuals jews who have.

The USA is similarly going backward.

Proof that the opportunity has knocked
and some opened
and some close the door on Christ.

Still... He knocks.

Some here in the USA have let Him in ...
then kicked Him out.

What I can't stand are the Christians who support the Zionist movement and call the Jewish "God's chosen people" and support the effort to get them all to move to the alleged "promised land."

They only support the movement because they believe some bogus prophecy that says Jesus is coming back after all the chosen people have returned to the promised land. The problem with that belief is that all of that is symbolic nonsense and they don't even know what it means.

Zionism is not Judaism. It is politics. Most Zionist's are atheists anyway. Christians should not support Zionism. Zionism is very close to communism.

I do think the Jewish were CHOSEN for Jesus to be born amongst, which is pretty significant. As a christian, however, I dont believe it gives the present day jewish people an AUTOMATIC IN with God. I think, if anything, they are chosen to live by a more intense standard and perhaps those who DO , have a special place with God. But I dont attach Gods blessing to the land mass, but instead to the people on it who not ONLY live there but do so with the intent and purpose to uphold his word. Just being born in the right place is probably not in and by itself something that makes God 'favor' anyone.

FYI in the time of Jesus there was no actual "Jewish" religion. It was Hebrew.

All the Christians on these forums seem to ever do is use their religion to belittle all other religions and use Jesus as a scapegoat to spread religious bigotry and hatred toward everyone who refuses to climb on board their bigotry wagon.

I honestly see no value in the religion whatsoever. All it it basically amounts to is a religious hate machine.

"Worship our religion or be judged to be a heathen!" whoa

That's all it amounts to. An excuse to "judge" other people in the name of Jesus Christ the Almighty.

"Oh! We're not judging you. Jesus is!"

Yeah right. whoa

Christianity is the single most judgmental religion in the world. Precisely the OPPOSITE of the very teachings that the religion itself attributes to Jesus.

How did this religion become such a horrible train-wreck?

understood, Im not referring to jewish religion, I am referring to the Israel and historical judaism

as in

..."Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the east and have come to worship Him."
