i don't see ss going belly up before we boomers are dead and buried. our kids and grandkids have to worry though. but anybody who's relying only on ss for their retirement is waaaaaay late getting around to thinking about such things.

Well, one thing about being a baby boomer is that the Record Industry has accommodated us with the 're-release of old songs. Examples? "Mrs. Brown, you've got a lovely 'Walker"-by Herman's Hermits....Or..."Papa got a kidney stone"-by the Temptations...Or..."I get by with a little help from 'Depends"-by the Beatles...Or..."I heard it thru the 'Grapenuts"-by Marvin Gaye...Or..."A whiter Shade of 'Hair'-by Procol Harem.

Old people will slow down the whole country and bring things to a screeching halt.

Here are some tips for the resistance:

1. Take forever getting through checkout lanes, write a check.
2. Drive in the passing lane real slow.
3. Complain and raise a fuss to any business that does not give senior discounts.
4. Pay your bills with small coins. Count them out very slowly.
5. Picket in your hoover-round or wheel chair.

Any more suggestions will be appreciated.

Start talking about how it was in the "good old days" with everyone you meet.

I never realised the relationship Jose Feliciano had with Carlos Santana. Carlos actually wrote some music for Jose. And just recently realised Jose sang some of the The Doors' songs. I was just 12 when Woodstock happened and never got to go to Woodstock.waving

I'm sure I'll "work" till I drop, or close to it! But that's easy when that "work" is an obsession and something you deeply love. If anyone else can slip into something like this, I sure recommend it! I don't hold much hope for SSA!

It sure is hard not to mention "the good ol' days" when speaking on most subjects. Funny thing is, most younger folks I speak with agree that "we" experienced a golden era and even bring the subject up first!

The explosion of music, the spirit of fellowship in youth, the movies, the books, the social awareness, the sex, even the craftsmanship, and work ethic - are all often lamented by younger hearts and minds.

From the end of WWII until... disco, it was a GOLDEN ERA to most!

Or so I type, in front of a HD plasma screen in 3D, listening to satellite radio from Japan, and composing orchestral film music with friends in Finland and The Netherlands on a 8gb quad-core computer with twin rendering slaves.

Ah yes, the "good ol' days"! But they really were so golden!

Write a cheque? There's nothing worse than an old lady standing in line trying to go through her wallet to give you the exact change. Think most people would choose a cheque any day!

Here's one for ya. Take all the pennies out of your piggy bank to pay your income tax in person
