Hussein could opt out of the Patriot Act.

Think he will?laugh
You have a great point Obama is more of the same. I am a disilusioned democrat. I did door to door work on his campaign talk about disapointment.

so did I, and I am still as proud as ever of my selection

, I guess that's a given though for anyone who has read my posts long enough..lol
Dont get me wrong he was the far better choice of Mccain/Palin but I expected more. I suppose I have unrealistic expectations. War criminals should be braught to justice and if taxes need to be raised so be it, and military cut rather than aid for the most vulnerable in society. But then again I am a progresive and a realist.

He already cut military. That is one of the first things he did.

realize that a president is not a dictator, his will and intent are not enough to make anything happen, it takes a GOVERNMENT (not just a president) to accomplish anything and when there are that many people in those decision making positions, some compromises are going to HAVE to take place most of the time to come to the CONSENSUS necessary ,,,,

The only reason bHo was a lesser of the two evils, is because MSM ignored the more experienced choices.

A lot of what you listed is outside a presidents realm. Only Congress lowers or raises taxes. Also congress has to order the military cuts.

Obama did what he could do. It was stated from the beginning that no war criminal investigations would be done from this administration. So I was not disappointed.

I have been disappointed by his damn bipartisanship. He has basically ruined it for those who would have benefited from what the Dems were going to do.

It just disgusts me that he wants to work with those who were willing to take this country to hell.

As to the OP there are some very intelligent conservatives on these boards and they have some interesting perspectives. There are the opposite of that on these boards also who have the right to their opinion also.

Some deserve a response others do not.

What happens is the words "prove it" come up and that is where the links come in. Some do not accept others opinions as valid which they have the right to do. Then it comes down to whether the links are from a valid source which is always debated.

Then we come back to the most sound opinions.

There are extremists here too. Like elsewhere.

Every extreme conservative ideal has been exposed on these boards.

But that is what makes it interesting to read.

I have never questioned anybody's intelligence. Perspectives are only interesting to me if they are based in some kind of reality. Reality has to real, and it seems reasonable to me that "prove it" is a necessary part of any reality-based debate.

I dont think he did much of anything besides bend over. He is the president he can apply presure and preach from his pulpit. He never did. He was passive when he had morality and most of america on his side. He has turned off most progresives AND THAT WAS HIS BASE. Will I go out and do campaign work again? probably not.

The case in egypt was a prime example of his failings and americas. We basicly stood on the sidelines untill the matter was settled by the brave egyptians. We were silent while Mubaraks goons assaulted them and tried to create the violence he needed for a full blown crackdown. Realy we have men and woman killing and dieng for "democracy" in the middle east and when it happens on its own we go Duh,

how can he apply pressure? all he can do is threaten vetos,,which he has on some occasions

and how do we know what he has done, as we surely dont have a 24 hour surveillance media reporting on all his interactions, meetings, and negotiations

as far as the rest of the world, I am glad someone finally sticks to their role in THIS country instead of imposing americas values and politics on everyone else without being INVITED to,,, I wish it would happen more often

God bless the child who's got his own, I am proud when other countries stand up to their own issues and they should be LEFT to do so if or until the situation is so out of control as to NEED or APPLY for assistance

we need our forces here, hot fighting the political battles for the rest of the world

The last few pages have gotten away from Egypt. Each of you look arrowed your home. How many ten year olds or younger do you see what happened in Egypt means more of them will be coming home to you in boxes.

I think it's OK if these threads wander a bit. That's the nature of a message board. Actually, the thread was not originally about Egypt.

That may take some time...

First the fragments of Islam will battle each other for supremacy...

Once one of them stablizes control of that part of the world then we will have to worry about them effectively engaging us...

Perhaps by then they will no longer feel the need.
