Easily refuted - You may not know this, but I've been alive forever. I didn't see jesus walk on water or turn water into wine. There. That's my eye-witness account that refutes this. No more should you believe some guy in sandals turned water into wine nor that he walked on water. Hey, my eye-witness account said so.

Unless you're omnicient - not seeng something has no validity as a conclusion to an argument. Unacceptable premise there youngster to support your argument - but hey, we'll let you try again. Maybe you'll get it right.

I'm not omnicient, but I am omniscient, oldster. Therefore, by your standards, my premise is completely valid. I'll add this - in being alive forever, I've seen EVERYTHING that's gone on in the world, and I didn't see a single event in the bible take place. Therefore, by your standards of "believing whatever you hear without proof" becasuse it's an eye-witness account, you would have to accept what I say as fact.

Or, alternatively, you could admit that "eye-witness" accounts are a bunch of bull.

Okay Chrisjj;

You're either plainly a liar - or dillusional. Let's see you prove your statement of knowing all there is to know. What was I doing yesterday at 10:00 pm? Since you've been everywhere and have seen everything. You get that right, and you'll have proved your point - otherwise, give it up.

Well, I know what you were doing, but it doesn't mean that I have to share it with you to prove it. You're creating a double-standard.

On one account, all that these beings in the bible have to do is SAY that they had an eye-witness account of Jesus's "miracles" or whatever. They just had to say "Hey, yeah dude, we totally saw him walk on water" and it's valid for you.

But me? I have to do more than simply tell you that I'm omniscient and everything detailed in the bible is a myth? Why the double-standard? What gives their words more validity? Why aren't you making these other supposed eye-witnesses to Jesus' actions tell you what you were doing at 10:00pm? Why do I have to do more to gain your...faith?

And how could I be *delusional* in comparison to what these other characters are claiming? That a human walked on water? That's just as delusional as anything I've claimed.

Chrisjj;

Because you made the statement that you have been around forever and have seen all things. If I said that to you as a proof of having seen Jesus walk on water - what would you think of me? That I were a liar or dillusional?

I believe in their eyewitness account the same as I would anyone who writes an account of an event I haven't witnessed. I'd either believe it - or I wouldn't. But I'd have no reason to believe they weren't there if they said they were. I might doubt what they thought they saw - like the many "documentaries" I've seen on UFO's. I may doubt they saw flying saucers or aliens - but I wouldn't necessarily doubt they saw something.

At any rate - the problem I have with your delivery, is that because you don't believe the eyewitness account of the bible - that it therefore did not happen. That is not a valid premise to state your conclusion of "it's having not occured" - as fact.

Oh, so basically religion is all about who you choose to believe.

doesn't that speak to all of life chrisjayjay?

All just perception and perception creates our individual notions of reality. We all have powers of discernment ... all choosing to believe or not believe everything and anything in our world.

Eyewitness accounts of a bank robbery ... and a dozen different conflicting reports about what happened, what was said and what the suspect looked like... all saw the same event ... all perceive and interpret it differently. Sometimes COMPLETELY differently. After the fact ... how do you determine who is right? Who's truth is THE truth?

Perhaps they all are - based on their perception and interpretation each speaks the absolute truth as it is revealed to them...as makes sense to them.

We choose what we believe based upon our frames of reference. I choose to believe nothing is separate and my beliefs are confirmed by my experiences. From that place there is no you and me ... there is just me experiencing in a number of different ways.

Even your statements about being alive forever and seeing all things makes sense from that place. Time is a concept ... a man-made one. Maybe your belief structure supports an ever flowing "NOW" ... or perhaps I read too much into it and you really are just hoping to pot-stir and be antagonistic.

Either way, I just share things from my perspective. They sit well within me today. They may not sit well within others and that is okay. It is not my path to convince anyone of anything. It is just my path to experience, to interract, to learn to grow, to share.

chrisjayjay,

Every single post you make is a cry for help, but we can't help you. It's up to you. Pick up a Bible and read it with an open heart, you will find the help you are seeking. You want proof that God exists, but proof is only given to those who actively seek God. "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: "

Whoa, I've been away a long time, was worried I had missed something. Imagine how happy I was to come back and find you had all waited for me, how wonderful that nothing new is happening without me.

:wink:

Chris - At what point in your life did you discover logic? At what point in your life will you discover that the very nature of faith requires one to be vulnerable to forces outside of logic. This is the only way, one can accept miracles. Miracles, the word has a definition that even the greatest scientists accept. Indeed, Chris, imagine how sad a world it would be, if no child was ever exposed and became vulnerable to those forces outside logic. A world where fairytales never permeated the dreams, wishes and desires of a child. Imagine the dreamless, cynical world we would inhabit.

Concede Chris, you just might be witness to a miracle, it would be ashame if logic did not allow you to see it. Open the mind of a child and you will see the possibilities of a future that logic would dictate to be in error, but that does not stop the child from believing they will achieve the dream, the goal, the miracle. You see, it is only the open mind that can achieve that, which logic says is not possible.

it's not actually disturbing my dear sister.
It's just non-logical.
And sad for the guy who started it. I just wonder what a misery of life he has. I don't care if he believes or does not. The sad thing is that he does not even show a inteligeable argument.
God bless u jenni
