Topic: ARE ALL LIES WRONG??? | |
---|---|
In the Bible, Jesus tells several perables. These are stories meant to teach a moral and/or spiritual value. Like the perable of the prodigal son, it told a story that conveyed the message that we are always within God's grace. Taken literally, one could say that Jesus lied because the people in the parable never existed. I think my point is clear on this??? Okay. Did the prodigal son exist??? |

No, he is saying that Jesus told the parable of the Prodigal son amongst others, now if Jesus was allowed to tell a story that wasn't true to help teach/prove a point....that didn't hurt anyone...why can't we???
And even if he gives his opinion like Joy and I did, you are just going to tell him he is wrong. |

I am Curious on your comments about this cause in the Bible says thou shall not Lie now what do you think about Lies??? lies are not right, depending upon ones definition of lie for me a lie is an intentionally(meaning the speaker knows its not true) dishonest statement I dont think anything someone hasnt said is a lie(although it can be deceptive) ,,,having said that, I do believe intentionally speaking an untruth is wrong It is a lie if it is untrue |

The Prodigal Son (also known as the Lost Son)
http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+15%3A11-32&version=NIV[/URL} Luke 15:11-32 (New International Version, ©2010) The Parable of the Lost Son 11 Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. 12 The younger one said to his father, ‘Father, give me my share of the estate.’ So he divided his property between them. 13 “Not long after that, the younger son got together all he had, set off for a distant country and there squandered his wealth in wild living. 14 After he had spent everything, there was a severe famine in that whole country, and he began to be in need. 15 So he went and hired himself out to a citizen of that country, who sent him to his fields to feed pigs. 16 He longed to fill his stomach with the pods that the pigs were eating, but no one gave him anything. 17 “When he came to his senses, he said, ‘How many of my father’s hired servants have food to spare, and here I am starving to death! 18 I will set out and go back to my father and say to him: Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. 19 I am no longer worthy to be called your son; make me like one of your hired servants.’ 20 So he got up and went to his father. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son, threw his arms around him and kissed him. 21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. I am no longer worthy to be called your son.’ 22 “But the father said to his servants, ‘Quick! Bring the best robe and put it on him. Put a ring on his finger and sandals on his feet. 23 Bring the fattened calf and kill it. Let’s have a feast and celebrate. 24 For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’ So they began to celebrate. 25 “Meanwhile, the older son was in the field. When he came near the house, he heard music and dancing. 26 So he called one of the servants and asked him what was going on. 27 ‘Your brother has come,’ he replied, ‘and your father has killed the fattened calf because he has him back safe and sound.’ 28 “The older brother became angry and refused to go in. So his father went out and pleaded with him. 29 But he answered his father, ‘Look! All these years I’ve been slaving for you and never disobeyed your orders. Yet you never gave me even a young goat so I could celebrate with my friends. 30 But when this son of yours who has squandered your property with prostitutes comes home, you kill the fattened calf for him!’ 31 “‘My son,’ the father said, ‘you are always with me, and everything I have is yours. 32 But we had to celebrate and be glad, because this brother of yours was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.’” Luke 15:11-32 (New International Version, ©2010) The Parable of the Lost Son 11 Jesus continued: “There was a man who had two sons. 21 “The son said to him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and against you. par·a·ble
noun \ˈpa-rə-bəl\ Definition of PARABLE : example; specifically : a usually short fictitious story that illustrates a moral attitude or a religious principle And with this, I am leaving this thread because you can believe what you want and so can the rest of us, believe what we want....but now you are comparing us to the Snake in the Garden of Eden???????? So we are Satan now???????? I'm gone! |

Oh My Gosh, what has happened here. How can it get so disturbing when people are asked to state their opinion, WE all have our own.
Cheer Up, You asked for peoples opinions, and please dont take this wrong, because you are a wonderful guy LOL my Gosh I would marry if you were older But people have given you their honest opinions and you have knocked them down, Yes I believe that lying is wrong, I have a strong belief in God and his word although I have not been walking with him for a long time. But if someone else feels that they have a reason to lie then it is not for me to judge them, In the bible it tells me that I am not allowed to, if someone is doing something wrong then God will put it on their heart when he wants to, he doesnt use people to accuse. someone pointing the finger in Gods name will only push them further from him . Please dont take this wrong as this is only my opinion and I will not for any reason ever argue with anyone. It shows nothing but the need to be right. Remember no one is wrong in this thread as it is our own opinion. As for Santa, I love the story of him, but my children alway knew he wasnt real. I told them that He was a real man who made gifts for children and then took them around in his sleigh to deliver them to children who didnt have things, this was how the story of santa began. This is actually true, however we still had great fun visiting santa in the shops, it is the same with the tooth fairy and all the other childrens things, my children have always known the truth but only because I chose to tell them, not because someone told me I had to, that is what I believe. I love fairytails, my son thinks that I live in a fairytale world because I like to think that everyone will always be nice to me. And he trys to tell me that their are bad things out there, but I dont choose to see that in anyone. Hmm started to ramble there. Anyway Cheer Up you are great, but if you want people to open up to you, Maybe if you could put your opinion across with a little more love it would go down easier with my children when they do something I dont agree with, if I tell them that they have to do something as an order they tend to rebel, which is understandable because noone wants to be told that they have to do something But if I sit down and lovingly take the time to explain why I think that they need to make a different choice, they listen, and even if they dont agree, we never have to be upset with each other. And with 6 children in the house you definately dont want them offended. Anyway I just found it really sad that a great topic could turn out so wrong And I really hope I havent upset anyone, but as with everyone else, we are all allowed to have our own opinion and hopefully be able to share it with each other and recieve no judment for what we say. You are all great. And as for God the Bible also says that he looks at each persons heart. so he see's what you are doing and why. and he is a God of forgiveness and love, and it will always be whats in your heart when you do something that he will look at first . Please all try and remember that his greatest comandment is to love . |
