Topic: ARE ALL LIES WRONG??? | |
---|---|
Children are being forced to grow up so fast that I don't think things like that are bad. Imagination is a wonderful thing for children and everyone else too, they will find out soon enough that they are fables. But let the joy and wonder in a child's eyes last for more than 3 years. After that they are being thrown in Pre-school, pre- kindergarten, kindergarten and then the next 12 to 16 learning about life. Then I guess we better start burning books again because they are all filled with fiction and that means they are all lies. We wouldn't want anyone to read them and be lied to.... Telling children things that are FABLES that will help add to their imaginations as they get older is the way things get invented.... Think about it....if the Wright brothers were never told about Icarus' flight to the sun and melting his wings, do you think they would have bothered to try and make an airplane???? to speak falsely; lie: to fable about one's past. –verb (used with object) 10. to describe as if actually so; talk about as if true: She is fabled to be the natural ..fable is just another word for lie |

I am Curious on your comments about this cause in the Bible says thou shall not Lie now what do you think about Lies??? lies are not right, depending upon ones definition of lie for me a lie is an intentionally(meaning the speaker knows its not true) dishonest statement I dont think anything someone hasnt said is a lie(although it can be deceptive) ,,,having said that, I do believe intentionally speaking an untruth is wrong |

Not to mention, if you take everything written in the Bible literally.. you would probably be going to Hell, Cheer, if you have ever slept with your girlfriend (fornication), or if you slept in the bed with her when she was having her period (unclean time for women to be around men) or if you sat in the same chair she did at that time (she is unclean and you are spreading the filth).
I forget the exact book but I know that it is in there. |

I think those are harmless fairy tales.. Who is it hurting? It's a fun belief along with the Tooth Fairy and Easter Bunny... I don't see that it's an issue.... NO it's not, it's a fairy tale.. See what Eileen said.. Life is not black and white.. There are many gray areas and the more people that realize that and accept it the more content/happy people we'll have in the world... Geez, get literal much?? And I told you that I think there are circumstances where it is.. That was in my first post.. You keep giving different scenarios and I keep answering them.. I think it can be.. I don't have to take things SO LITERALLY... I don't believe in seeing things as just one way or the other... I can have it any way I want it.. God gave me a mind that can think and sort things out.. I don't think he wanted people to be lemmings and if he did then call me a sinner b/c my mind won't let me do that.. |

A fable is a short, pithy animal tale, most often told or written with a moral tagged on in the form of a proverb. Thus to convey a moral is the aim of most fables, and the tale is the vehicle by which this is done, providing both an illustration of and compelling argument for the moral.
If you are going to quote a definition, hun please include the whole definition. |

You said God said that it isn't right if we tell any kinds of lies and that means you will lose out on Heaven.....BUT even if you don't tell lies and are going to LITERALLY take that statement/commandment there are other things that people do that will make them lose out according to the Bible.
I stated my beliefs just like Prncs did and you are telling us how wrong we are because we think different from the Bible. |

A lie-to-children is an expression that describes the simplification of technical or difficult to understand material for consumption by children. I Do not think it is bad to tell a child that Santa is real, as well as any of those other characters....it helps stimulate imagination and children need that.
If you feel different about that, that is your prerogative. Different strokes for different folks. |

In the Bible, Jesus tells several perables. These are stories meant to teach a moral and/or spiritual value. Like the perable of the prodigal son, it told a story that conveyed the message that we are always within God's grace.
Taken literally, one could say that Jesus lied because the people in the parable never existed. I think my point is clear on this??? |

Well Cheer, when you have kids, you let us know how the whole truth at all cost thing works out for you.
And another thing, if you tell us that you never lie????? I think thats a lie as well. |

I went to Catholic school for eight years and our pastors would dress up as Santa Claus for the little kids....so if it was okay with them, it's okay with me.
