Topic: 'Modern' Life In Afghanistan -- Stoned to Death for Being In | |
---|---|
Earlier today, on the cusp of the second decade of the twenty-first century, the Afghan Taliban treated the world to a display of Islamic (Sharia) law. They proudly sentenced two human beings to be publicly stoned to death by a mob of two hundred men who were only too happy to do so, a mob which included the relatives of both victims as well as bystanders galore.
The couple’s crime was that of loving each other and wanting to marry. However, the woman refused to marry the relative to whom she had already been promised. Thus, they had both rebelled against cultural, tribal, and religious expectations. The couple, 25-year-old Khayyam and 19-year-old Siddiqa ran away. Both were lured back home by relatives who promised them that permission would be granted for them to marry. It was a ruse. Once back, they were subjected to Afghan Islamic justice, Taliban-style and were stoned to death. Siddiqa was forced to wear her burqa to her execution. This must be understood as a cultural honor killing, similar to the Afghan Taliban punishments of women who have fled dangerously abusive and child marriages. The Taliban cuts off their noses and ears—merciful by their standards compared to stoning. The exquisite but painful film, "The Stoning of Soraya M," is based on a true-life stoning in Iran; the film "Osama," which includes the public stoning of burqa-clad women, is based on what happened when the Taliban ruled Afghanistan in the 1990s. What happened today is reality—and it is coming our way if we allow such thinking to penetrate the West. Honor killings are sometimes committed by Hindus and Sikhs (but mainly in India, not in the West). In Europe and North America, honor killings are primarily a Muslim-on-Muslim crime. At the end of 2007, in Toronto, Aqsa Parvez was lured home by her mother and then honor murdered by her father and brother. Her crime? Becoming too western, not wearing hijab. Early in 2008, Amina and Sarah Said were also lured home by their mother, Tissy, and honor murdered by their father Yasir. Their crime? They had non-Muslim friends, non-Muslim boyfriends, and after years of abuse, had finally run away. Like Siddiqa in Afghanistan, the Said sisters had already been promised to Egyptian men, friends or relatives of their father, who could obtain green cards by marrying American-born citizens. In the last thirty years, the Afghan and Pakistani Taliban, the Turks, the Saudis, the Iranians, and the Egyptians have all engaged in the following atrocities for, from our western point of view, the most minor offenses: stonings, beheadings, hangings, burying young girls alive, amputations, nose and ear chopping, floggings, acid thrown in the faces of young girls for improper veiling. They claim they are doing so in the name of Islam. Anti-Islamist Muslims claim that such punishers are criminals who have hijacked an otherwise peaceful religion. We had better decide who is right. http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2010/08/17/phyllis-chesler-taliban-stoning-love-burqa-tricked-afghan/?test=latestnews Gosh, those peace loving Muslims. |

Not to mention we don't execute people for being in love. We execute them for brutally killing another human being, theres a big difference. We don't do it on tv or in front of a crowd of 200+ people. There are some major differences. These people are animals believing in the words written down by a pedophile. |

There are some major differences. These people are animals believing in the words written down by a pedophile. we do sell children, its called adoption, when children are stranded or have no support, it is one option we have, like muslims have marriage we dont execute them for being in love, but we still execute them we execute people for being found guilty of certain crimes which end the life of another,, we define lifes value by the value of flesh muslims take the soul and spirit into account with the value of life(jews did too for a time) and some of their customs(cultural , not religious) reflect that through corporal punishment |

So if I may, A guy breaks into my house at 2:00 AM wielding a knife and I shoot his azz but he falls out of my house and dies.
Now I am a murderer. A young couple runs away and they die for their love becasue the "community" does not approve. Now take a rampaging serial killer who has raped and murdered a number of children. All he gets is a life sentence. How does any of this compare? It doesn't! America is too fuqued up over criminal rights and all that ACLU and NAACP "feels good" crap. All this "Valuing human life" is a load of self indulgent crap! The core of Islam is based on very violent means to invoke control over people through terror and fear. Right after that couple died we should have nuked the crowd with a hellfire missile or Maverick Bomb dropped from a predator drone! Not one single person at that murder should have been allowed to live even if they were a spectator. They were there to see a killing and therefore culpable to the murder! I will probably make headlines myself if I ever catch any Taliban here. As it stands I have a VERY low opinion of anyone supporting them! "One in the head and not the chest, head shots are the very best!" OHHHHH YEAH! ![]() |

Your saying adoption is like selling your daughter to a man for marriage, who that night will do things to her that no little girl that age should ever have to experience. |

IF the marriage is consummated right away,, that is our marriage tradition though, not necessarily the tradition of EVERYONE else it may be interesting to look up if MUSLIMS actually have an 'adoption' process in muslim countries, perhaps this is all they have to look after children whose parents are struggling I dont know for sure as I am not studying ISlam, but I doubt most here are either there isnt much difference between those who claim God supports killing infidels because of some things he ordered in the bible I judge by the standard I hope to be judged, I dont like when people generalize that way about christians, I certainly do not support people doing it about islam |

Perhaps, Sharia is right.
We could be rid of any talk of homosexual anything. Marriages, civil unions. They get caught, rock their world. Go to the courthouses and gather all the names of self-professed Sodomites. Let Sharia take 'em out and deal with them. Search all the web sites for those bragging about it or looking to hook up and job done. |

I dont know, honestly. I recognize that my standards are jaded by my western upbringing though.
is it such a bad idea to cut the hand off of a thief, or castrate a rapist,,,,,,,,,because I am anti violent, I believe so but in a country that is pro death penalty, the sentiment seems to lose validity as far as Im concerned we are not an anti violent country, we condone killing over property, we condone death penalty, we start wars and invade countries with guns for those who oppose violence , I understand the opposition to SHaria, but for those who make statements about how presidents need to die, or religious people need to have 'accidents'. I just think that moral high ground rings of hypocrisy. premeditated taking of life is murder in my eyes, its why I am anti abortion and anti death penalty so no, I dont see death penalty of a murderer as any more or less human or just than death penalty of an adulteress or cutting off the hand of a thief, or branding adulterers ,,,etc,,, |

Doesn't it seem hypocritical to support the right of a violent religion to exists and be a pacifist?
There also is no such thing as Moral High ground. That is assumed by religion. Even Christianity assumes we must follow them to be saved. Saved from what exactly? Ourselves? |

Real Christians do the right thing by speaking up against evil and evil persons.
Real Christians do not support and defend any of the other religions. Real Christians don't waste time debating Islamic rights or wrong because the whole religion is wrong. Real Christians don't support Islamic mosques especially when those same Islamic mosques preach the death and destruction of Christianity and the Jews. Real Christians don't insult their own religion and speak up for Islam. |

Im glad that you are a spokesperson for REAL CHRISTIANS, of which I am obviously and gladly not one I am , however, a God Fearing christian , who believes in seperating the sin from the sinner and not condemning groups based upon the numerous sins its parishoners might commit( that would include christians) 'Judge not, that you be not judged. For with the judgment that you pronounce you will be judged, and the measure you give will be the measure you get. Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, "Let me take the speck out of your eye," when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye. ' Matthew 7.1-5 I am also a christ loving christian All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations...." (Matthew 28:18,19) all nations, all nations, not just christian or jewish, have potential to become disciples at some time, that is not a CHRISTIANS job to decide if we use just judgment, we have to look at what we have done before condemning others for their similar action these are all concepts of my KJV so I will bypass being one of those 'real' (self righteous) type christians and let God be the judge of how well I followed his word and jesus example |

The least of my worries when I die and go before heaven is God or Jesus scolding me because I was telling someone that Christians shouldn't be supporting Islam.I am also not the least bit worried I will be judged badly for speaking what the Holy bible says. What does judgement have to do with 1.)Speaking against the things evil people do in the name of religion. 2.)Not supporting other religions. It is our job as Christians to not accept any other religion as fact.It is also our job to preach the gospel to other nations as you referred to.Obviously what God and Jesus were talking about was conversion towards Christianity for anyone who wants it. I do not sit with deceitful men, nor do I consort with hypocrites; I abhor the assembly of evildoers and refuse to sit with the wicked (Psalm 26:4-5). Romans 16: "I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and put obstacles in your way that are contrary to the teaching you have learned. Keep away from them. For such people are not serving our Lord Christ, but their own appetites. By smooth talk and flattery they deceive the minds of naive people. " This people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far removed from me. It is in vain that they keep worshiping me, because they teach as doctrines commands of men.- Mark 7:6, 7. Galations 1: v 9 "As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!" John 4:23 But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father is seeking such people to worship him And as for you, brothers, never tire of doing what is right. If anyone does not obey our instruction in this letter, take special note of him. Do not associate with him, in order that he may feel ashamed. Yet do not regard him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother (2 Thessalonians 3:13-15). 2 John 1:9-11 Everyone who goes on ahead and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God. Whoever abides in the teaching has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house or give him any greeting, for whoever greets him takes part in his wicked works. 1 John 4:1-3 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already. Ephesians 5:11 Do not participate in the unfruitful deeds of darkness, but instead even expose them; 1 Corinthians 15:33 Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.” Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will live with them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be my people." "Therefore come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you." "I will be a Father to you, and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty" (2 Corinthians 6:14-18). "I will establish your borders from the Red Sea to the Sea of the Philistines, and from the desert to the River. I will hand over to you the people who live in the land and you will drive them out before you. Do not make a covenant with them or with their gods. Do not let them live in your land, or they will cause you to sin against me, because the worship of their gods will certainly be a snare to you" (Exodus 23:31-33). |
