Topic: A woman should know her place

This is written from a Bible oriented perspective. I don't mean to
offend anyone, but I know the subject is provocative. Please be
respectful enough to read the whole post before you start throwing
stones.

Genesis 2:18
-------------------------------------------------------------
Then the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone; I will
make him a helper suitable for him."
-------------------------------------------------------------

Woman was created to be man's helper. Many assume this means she should
cook, clean and care for the children, but that isn't the case. Many
women in the Bible had servants to do all of the house work and chores
that is sometimes called "woman's work". Woman is man's helper, so the
important question is "what is it that God wants men to do." Man is
designated as the head of the household, just as Jesus is the head of
the Church. So it's the woman's place to help the man run the
household. How should a man run a household? Jesus taught in John 13,
that you lead by serving.

So, I believe, a woman's job in a marriage is giving advice, comfort and
support to her husband who in turn serves his wife and children. The
relationship is designed to be cyclical in nature with the man serving
the family and the family serving the man, but responsiblity for the
family's failures fall squarely onto the man's shoulders.

That said, a woman's place is where ever she wants it to be. If she is
moved to work, she should work. If she is moved to be a stay at home
mother, she should stay at home. Her husband should have final say on
if she works or not, but he should only disgree with her in a case where
her work damages the family unit. If I found Miss Right and she made
more than I do, I would love to be a stay at home dad and do all the
cooking and cleaning. Deborah (Judges 4:1-7) was busy leading Israel as
Judge, General and Prophetess, while I guess her husband Lappidoth was
probably happy staying at home and caring for the kids (pure conjecture,
we don't know anything about him, but his name). The important thing is
that BOTH partners do what is best for the family, the relationship and
do what makes their partner happy, with the gifts that God has given
them. This was God's original design for marriage.

Woman is God's last creation and the world wouldn't be worth living in
without them. God bless all you ladies, I hope you all take this in the
loving way it is intended.

Genesis 1-28;

'... Male and Female created he them.'

No order of importance here when humanity was created on the sixth day.

The one you quoted came at the creation of Adam (which occured after the
day of rest)

I believe that most women do know there place as you describe it Spider.
What’s needed is that more men realized their responsibility.
So a much better title for this thread would have been:

“MEN SHOULD KNOW THEIR RESPONSIBILITY”

By the way, I’ve always believed that parents should have a supportive
egalitarian relationship in a household. This comes automatic from
knowing that male and female evolved side-by-side.

Nice Spider. I believe every family unit starts with a partnership and
usually that partnership allows each person to do what they do best, and
each stands as compliment to the other.

Of course for a minute there I was going to say something about the man
having the final say, but then I remembered, in context of your post,
the man's job was to serve the family, that means it was to be his job
to decide what would be best. So from that perspective I'll let it
pass. Well, this time anyway.

Ever noticed that a Good Woman can raise a man up beyond his greatest
imagination.

And a Bad Woman can turn him into dirt in 10 minutes flat.

Yet a Good Man can be a fitting partner.

But a Bad Man can turn a woman into a shrew in seconds flat.

Hard to choose wisely since both can show us what we think we are
looking for.

Redykeulous,

If you choose a man who loves you and has your best interests at heart,
wouldn't you trust him to make the final decisions? Relationships are
about trust and I will encourage my daughter to only marry a man if he
loves the Lord first and her second. If he loves the Lord, he will do
as the Lord has commanded and make her a wonderful husband.

Abracadabra,

I named the thread the way I did for a reason. I'm sure if you think
about it you will figure it out.

If he loves the Lord more he will do as the Lord commanded and leave her
to follow in the footsteps of the Lord.

Love the woman more. The Lord will understand. She you must live with
in this life. The Lord will be with you both.

Tis true of all of us.

Of course, I think there is also a man involved in that process too. :o)

This is so true, but as you also point out it can go the other way too.
A good person can be a healthy inspiration to another person. I seek a
partner in the hope that we can inspire each other beyond our greatest
imaginations. Unfortunately, that doesn’t appear to be on the agenda
for this particular life.

Your choice of thread title doesn’t surprise me in the least. I was
just suggesting a better title is all.

Abracadabra,

Really? What was my reason for choosing this title?

I think you missed my point. My point is that most women already KNOW
what you have described. They expect as much. If you pay attention to
what most women say about their failed relationships you will soon learn
that is it the man who doesn’t KNOW his responsibility.

That was my only point.

If you would like to explain why you think women need to know their
place I’m all ears. From my point of view I think most women already do
know their “place”. Of course, I could be wrong. I'm just sharing my
view is all.
