Winx shocked not you playing the race card shocked

A friend of mine, that is black, told me that today.

and you agree? disagree?

I had never thought about it that way. I think it's a possibility. I honestly don't know. It's never happened before, that I know about.
I hope it's not so.

A Non-State Gun at Obama Event
Posted by Butler Shaffer on August 18, 2009 07:57 AM

Karen: Those who are getting their diapers in a knot over the appearance of a man with an assault rifle at an Obama event need a little perspective. To begin with, they might recall the day, back in the 1960s, when a contingent of Black Panthers walked into the California State Legislative chambers with rifles and shotguns – while the legislature was in session – to make a political statement. No shots were fired; no one was injured; but the incident was intended to remind government officials of the purpose of the Second Amendment. Ordinary people – not the state’s police and military – are to have the ultimate power in a free society. It is this reminder – not the gun – that most terrifies members of the media, academia, etc. I suspect there were numerous government agents at this event with weapons more powerful than what this one man carried: why was there no outrage over their armed presence? The political scientist who worried that the carrying of guns at such events “creates a chilling effect” on members of the public might ask, if he is sincere, whether armed functionaries of the state might produce the same effect.

The fear that the ultimate political authority may be decentralizing into the hands of private persons is more than the statist faithful can tolerate. To paraphrase the anti-war bumper-sticker from the 1960s: “what if they gave a democracy and EVERYBODY showed up?”

The time period does not change the issue nor the inherently evil nature of the State.

I'm getting sick and tired of the race word being used all the time. The protesters are there against his policies not because of his race!
This is a black man at one of the town hall, with a semi automatic weapon, is he racist?

That's naive. You should live in my neck of the woods, they don't have to go to the town halls to make it clear they want the N out of office. So you might be tired of hearing it but it's there, and it doesn't take a rocket scientist to recognize racist conversation.

No what's nieve is listening to the like's of Janeane Garofalo saying that the people who go to the tea parties and protest at the town hall are racists. When that couldn't be farther from the truth!

I'm not saying that some aren't racist. But they are way in the minority, and I doubt if they are even attending these meetings.

Not even. People do not like the threat of guns used regardless to what stance the gun toters take. Well, of course, the ones who approve of the gun toters stance may feel differently but those of us who do not want to be at the receiving end of a bullet that has no name on it do not.

Comparing a black anti oppression movement after hundreds of years of mistreatment by the government in this country is not even close to a white man carrying an assault rifle at a political rally OR maybe it is since the man has white supremacist ties. Maybe he just can't let go of the white supremacist ideals.

A black person made that comment to me, btw. She thought that more respect would have been shown to a white president.

I hadn't thought of that. I found it to be an interesting perspective.

It is not farther from the truth. If they would honestly answer the question about race, you would find that half if not more are racists who cannot stand the idea of a black president.

No keeping it on the DL is what helps perpetrate it. Bringing it out into the open and exposing it for what it is, in all of the guile used to cover it up, is the best thing to happen.

I disagree, most of today's racism comes from lack of substance.

when things don't pan out, play the race card?
when one can't gain employment, play the race card?
when someone doesn't see as the rest, play the race card?
Wondering if I don't win the lotto, whether I can play the card card (granted I don't play lotto)

When all else fails, play the dreaded race card...

remove the race card and see people have to become accountable for their actions, reactions, etc.

Hi TNJ,

I wish it were true that they were in the minority, and frankly I used to believe that but I am not at all sure because of what I have seen online and offline ever since Obama came on the scene.

Of course they don't come right out and say they are racist, but it's hard to listen to them and not hear it in their words.

We can pretend this is all about policies, I don't buy that.

That is white supremacist propaganda that is used to say that racial discrimination doesn't happen and all claims are false. It is used to keep people One from making legitimate claims in fear of being seen this way and Two to keep the power of the discrimination alive.

Racial discrimination happens more often than reported, I have seen it with my own eyes. It is sickening. It is still rampant and it needs to be stopped and the only way to stop it is for all who experience it to charge those who do it.

Must be a racist. If he had thoughts about taking out BHO, I guess he would have been aiming at the white half.

Considering that anyone in this country who has any black blood in them is considered black, that would not be true.

It was really not a valid comparison to begin with.

Ah, one of the chief follies of the left-using coercive force to change negative attitudes. This approach has been thoroughly disproven by a number of people (Gandhi, etc.). If the State's coercive force is removed, people will find a way to get along for themselves. Considering you make no sense here, I will humor you this one time.

Are you stating that if the government is pulled out of enforcing laws to make the world as equal as possible for all involved that the people will then do a better job? If the government had not interfered with the racial unrest in the last 50 years here we would still be in a country with a practical slave issue. So that is not true at all.

If you need to see proof it go down south. The divide is still there and people there treat others without respect over this same issue.

It is like stepping back to a more ignorant time in this country when you go down there. Now there are a few who have grown intellectually enough to not participate in it but for the most part it is ignorance and racial hatred at it's best still.
