I grew up in east las vegas, moved to the southwest (southern highlands) about 8 years ago, im a sports gambler and since around 17 I have made 3 0r 4 times what I have put into to it. Now going for my first full season as it as my only source of income college football and pro.

Really is a cool place and full of a variety of people and things to do. Valley of fire is great, red rock is cool, but not free, if you get a chance check out calico basin, its free and is the back of red rock, amazing enviromet to have survived in the desert. Its weird I actually enjoy the heat, some people can be a little pushy or seem to be in a rush. My family is all in southern california, and florida, I prefer vegas to those but when finacially capable I hope to move and start a farm in oregon, when I used to move furniture I traveled the us often and oregon suprised me and left a lasting impression on me, people are nice, carefree, you can smell the trees in the air and their is like 100 mi streches of forrest, waterfalls, and some of the cleanest rivers and lakes in the us.

Never been to Las Vegas. I have been to Reno. Gambled all night into the next day. Won quiet a lot, got ripped off, went home and I have never been back.

Yes, I actually live here... and I guess I am the odd one, as I do not care for it. I can hardly wait to leave... I miss my 4 seasons, of winter, spring, summer and fall. And I miss the mountains... but Vegas is ok to visit... I just do not like living here. I am not a gambler, nor do I like getting out much in crowds. It was pretty exciting the first time I ever came to visit back in 1995... much different than any other city I had ever seen before. Would not be here now if not for how the economy turned.

I think only to see a creative female burlesque show, of that I am a fan, but honestly, Las Vegas seems so 70s low class to me for the most part.

I just cant get into it.

I used to live in Las Vegas on Maryland Pkway. Yay that **** was so hot. More to do than most cities. My 2nd favorite to Manhattan

I lived in NOLA for seven years. I got bored with the nightly French Quarter routine after the first time there. The French Market and Quarter are much more interesting in the daytime. The cemeteries are another place to see along with the plantations.

If you do Mardi Gras. Go the the very first one in the Quarter that kicks off the season. It's adult themed and usually pretty funny as hell. After that no more parades are held there. The ones on Veterans Blvd. are nice, but if you want to do the all day thing go to the ones on St. Charles.

The uptown parades I found more family friendly if you have kids or are looking for just a good time to watch the floats for 14 hours.

Although, I have seen a few idiots from time to time

But the coolest part of that particular trip out west was the 7 day rafting trip down the Grand Canyon.

I drove through Vegas as I did my cross country traveling last year. Its pretty at night, lights and lights. Yea I gamble and I lost. I rather go for the shows.

i used to live there when i was younger. its actually a great place to raise a family and the school systems are actually one year ahead in the curiculum than new york and far more in depth into educational efficiency. i would recomend living there. its a great place even if you dont gamble.

I've been to Las Vegas 28 times, the last being in 2002.. Husband was not able to travel after that.. Have seen many good shows there including the Legends at Imperial Palaace, The Titanic show at MGM Grand anddid get to see Sigfried and Roy. That was one of the best shows I ever saw but, of course, not there any more.. We did not gamble much but love to see all the new hotels inside and out.. Saw several hotels being imploded at night.. What a sight that was!! There are monorails to take you from some hotels to another so you don't always have to walk or take a cab.. Bus is good transportation too.. WATCH YOU PURSE OR WALLET!!! Mine was zipped closed and someone was still able to open it and steal my wallet!! Men carry you wallet in front pocket, women wear a fanny pack in the front..Carry the least amount of cards or pics that you can just in case...Enjoy and good luck.. Its like no other place on earth!!!

I've been several times as it's only a 6 hr drive for me. I like when you travel the desert at night and then you hit a plateau and see the lights of Vegas and it's unbelievable!
But, I always get sick there{don't drink} and I'm miserable on the trip home. Is it the altitude?

My sister and I took a spontaneous trip there for my 40th birthday, we had a great time. Saw a show, did a little gambling, went to one of Emeril's restaurants for dinner, did a spa day, and basically just wandered up and down the strip to the different casinos. It was a LOT of fun. We didn't have much money we could afford to lose, and it was gone, we quit gambling. Still and all, a lot of fun. There's plenty to do for everyone there, whether you're big partiers or not.

Yep--been to Vegas more than once for conventions. Totally hated it!! It was mid summer-I swear the hottest summer possible.
cough, cough--couldn't stand all that smoke either! Gambled some-lost a bit too! Had I won-I would not have been too much happier either.
The only thing I like about Vegas is the saying that what happens there-stays there (in other words, I don't have to contend with all the things that make me miserable from that place)-lol

Last but not least Vegas to me is boring...
Hope to travel other places and so C-YA anywhere but Vegas

Drove through on Interstate 15... with no intention of stopping whatsoever... have no desire to go there, ever... found the Hoover Dam to be more interesting... and then on to Arizona, where they actually fix the roads... right at the AZ border, the road became like this absolutely perfect pavement... remarkable...

Camped at the north rim of the Grand Canyon... simply stunning...

Am with you on that one. Still have one of the highest foreclosure and unemployemnt rates in the country (they're predicting 14.75 by next summer and thats those on unemployment only). The schools now are NOT doing well at all closings and people are moving out quick; alot of drive by shootings (kids getting killed), and gangs moving in from California. More crime per sqaure mile per capita then NYC. (Theirs has gone down since 9/11- ex-NYer here-still have family there). If you come here...stay away from Station Casinos- they own alot of casinos and have tightened up and bad food due to trying to get out...altho they were on Forbes top 100 a few years back when owned by other. The strip is fun yet our fees (DMV, etc) are getting ridiculous as due to all the loss of $ the state is going after the locals. Surrounding areas are great for sights tho...canyons, Oatman with the wild burros that walk the streets like sacred cows; First test sights, Valley of Fire, Lake Mead...driving and actually seeing wild horses- altho BLM is trying to (literally) kill that one.
