I went with my family when I was younger. My aunt came along with her, then fiance. We went to "safe" events because my brother, sister and I were too young for the adult fun.

But now that I'm an adult...I want to go, go, go!

Great place to visit. Wouldn't want to live there!

Was a craps dealer there from '95-'98. That's the complicated game with the dice for those unfamiliar, the game with the best odds for you gamblers. Job was a blast, money was phenomenal. And there's tons of fun stuff to do 24/7, lots of really cool shows. But it's no place for a single mom to raise a son. Gangs, drugs, gambling, prostitution! They don't call it Sin City for nothing.smokin

I think everyone should at least see it once in their life. And go in at night, whether flying or driving. You suddenly see a bazillion lights in the middle of nowhere, it's pretty amazing! shocked

I have to agree coming into the Valley is quite amazing at night, but once you get here it's a little mind boggling to a first time visitor.

And if you have, did you just goto shows? Gamble?

If you gambled did you win? Lose?

Let me know...

Also if you never have been but are planning to go, let me know that as well.

I lived in Gardnerville, Nevada for 7 yrs. Owned my home, had a great house cleaning job, making $125. 4hrs job.....I lived in a town that was abscess with gambling, Carson City, and Reno, Lake Tahoe has the biggest casinos ever!

I think on my 32yr birthday I took $5.00 and won 75.00 that bought me dinner, a pretty dress and my ex won me a weekend in the Hotel he worked for I got the honeymoon suit. Free drinks, free dinners, and 20 in chips. I gave him the chips, lol

he took care of the kids, while i got a night to myself! How ever the funny part is this. I got it at 7pm he he and the kids did not leave until 10pm. I woke up and by 9am they were there the next day? Hmmm did i even get the night to myself?

I loved the jacuzzi in my room and the steamed shower, that was great!

Some day's I just miss my home town..... but Kids college meant more to me then this....... I lost my husband, my house and family, so my kids could have a better life! What one mother did for her kids.

i've been to vegas once, about 7 years ago.

we didn't gamble (much), didn't go to any shows, just mostly wandered in and out of the casinos gaping with awe and admiration.

we've been playing with the idea of going over christmas but i'm not sure how warm it'll be and whether the kids will be able to swim.

if we do make it, i'd really like to see 'love' - if it's still playing.

X-mas will be a bit chilly to swim, so if you do come at x-mas, make sure you get a hotel with an indoor pool, that is unless you like swimming in 30-40 F

Been to LV many times and the shopping at outlet malls is excellent. Not really a gambler myself. Good place to buy property at this time, real estate is real cheap.

I spent 5 days there awhile back. I saw the shows every night. I played the slots for a bit one night. I won $50.

I learned that I liked steak and eggs.laugh

I flew through the Grand Canyon. I saw Lake Mead and Hoover Dam. I went to a desert town.

My favorite part was the Grand Canyon.bigsmile

I've been there twice- once was on business (I did some smoke and mechanical effects for the announcement of the construction of the Mandalay Bay Hotel back in 1998), and the other was for pleasure.

Did very little in the way of gambling, as I'm just not a gambling man. So I spent most of the time casino-hopping and checkin' out the Hoover Dam. That's about it, though.

I also spent some time in Reno, Nevada as well- that was also a business-related affair (worked on a movie) and probably did more gambling there than I did in Vegas. I even won a hundred bucks at one point, too.

Yep.

Did not gamble.

Saw lake mead. Visited the Vally of Fire. Climbed Red Rock canyon.
Boated up the Black Canyon and the Boulder Canyon (both on Lake Mead).

Walked the Hoover Dam.
