I live in wisconsin. If you don't own a gun there you are considered strange. We hunt. I have a CC and carry. Never had a problem. We have not had a murder in my county since 1973. And everyone practically is armed. Do the math. As for the question of the thread? Wouldn't bother me depending on the circumstances. I've hugged lots of armed people.

Actually..people who hunt Bears here in Michigan almost always carry a .357 in the event that they don't get a first shot kill and the Bear charges them.

There is a handgun only Deer Hunting season as well.

If you discover a pistol in the persons' possession you're out with, and he/she replies with, "Guns don't kill people, PEOPLE KILL PEOPLE!", shoot back with, "then please don't point that PERSON at me!"

I guess you also believe that pencils are responsible for spelling errors as well with that mentality.

Ok, now you are just getting argumentative, and yes I do hunt with handguns if you must know. I have hunted deer with handguns and I once had to defend myself from a charging wild boar with a handgun.

I guess that you never saw Gilda Radner say that. She was hilarious.

Those were two separate topics I posted. I was SERIOUS about your previously stated reason. No sarcasm there at all. And certainly no argument.

justaguy, you have more than earned my respect and trust. If you say so, then I believe it.

Still doesn't make a whole lick of sense to me though...

Oh, I see what you were commenting on now. I am very sorry for the confusion and for accusing you of being argumentative. I simply did not realize what you were commenting on.

My apologies.blushing

I think alot of this just comes down to our human nature. A good woman feels the need to be a good mother and love their children, right.

Well, I think that a good man feels the need to protect those around him including his children, the mother of his children, his friends, his family, and in my case even strangers. I don't consider this to be macho either I just consider this being a good man.

Maybe I'm way off or wierd, but that is what I believe.

Hey now I live in Texas for many years you would see rifle's hanging across the back windows of many trucks. But due to gun laws ect. that is no longer seen here.

Now if I went on a date with someone and realized they were carrying a gun heck yeah first thing I would do is ask why for I would guarantee you I would already know their line of work prior to the date. Therefore would already know if in fact they may be carrying a weapon due to their job. Then most likely would excuse myself to the restroom and find the nearest exit as well. Take down their plate # and call in on it.

Hey I still like living and don't feel that anyone should hid such and issue even from a first date.noway slaphead

Red Flag for sure if they had to carry a weapon and they have nothing to do with Law Enforcement of any kind or even similar to that. noway
 Go ahead and call them... I am legal and so is my gun..
What about just about every guy carrying a knife??? Most crimes against women are done with a knife... and any idiot can buy one!!
At least I can shoot the nutcase with a knife:wink: laugh

Sorry I see no reason to carry any type of weapon. noway Unless it has to do with your profession it is uncalled for. I do not live where the crime rate is that high so would expect out of pure respect to leave any kind of weapons at home.

If in fact I found out they were carrying a concealed weapon of any kind I would be disturbed. And yes either a knife on a belt loop or a gun in a hostler to me would be considered a big RED FLAG and I'm out of there. noway

Now this would be based if it was a first date and I nor anyone I knew had known them prior. I have known male friends that did carry a knife it did not bother me for I knew them already through other friends but yeah I still asked them why they carried one. I have also known of those that are within Law Enforcement that carried weapons.

But honestly you very seldom see anyone carrying concealed weapons around here unless they are within Law Enforcement it is not needed. I live in town no bears will get you here there are no big gangs around the area ect...

At a point in the past I carried concealed.

I was not law inforcement.

Private Security. Individual kind.

When we had a client we went into a 24 hour ready state.

Had to carry.

However I would also have NOT set up a date during that time soooo...

I reckon this is off topic.

Hey now.

I don't carry one....lol

No bears around here either. But there are lots of them a little further North.

There are also a few Mountain Lions out and about in some of the Northern parts of the state.

Snarky asked ( kinda ) if people actually hunt with handguns. I simply told her that people do. So the argument that handguns are only made to kill people no longer holds as true as it once may have.

Actually your very much on topic and also made my point very well.

Even you agreed that you more or less would not have carried a weapon on a date. Even though you carried one due to your profession in the past.

Even most Police Officers that I have known never carried one if they were not on duty.

Besides that most Restaurants it is against the law to carry a weapon that is concealed. noway

I know.. If I see a woman getting beaten and raped on the street/alley, I will run to a local pay phone and call the police, then another 40 minutes for the cops to show up....

NO... let me drive home, get my gun out of the gun safe and then drive back to stop him.

slaphead slaphead slaphead slaphead

OR- I CAN JUST PULL OUT MY PISTOL FROM MY SHOULDER HOLSTER, POINT IT AT THE MAN AND GIVE HIM THE CHOICE... STOP OR DIE!! drinks

Does it really take that long for police to show up in your area?

My phone did something weird last week and called 911 when I wasn't home. The call was made at 8:22. The police arrived at 8:23.

slaphead Someone can strangle you or stab you to death in under 2 minutes!!! Cops would have been too late even in 8 minutes- and the 8 minutes is only because you live close to the cop shop... Many people don't. Think outside of your protected little world.
But hopefully you will be one of the lucky ones that never has to dirrectly deal with crime.
