Alex, as an aircraft electronics technician I was only issued a weapon
once for range qualification. My weapons were tools carried in a tool
box. If someone came at me, the best I could do was put a dent in their
forehaed with a wrench or take an eye out with a screwdriver. lol In
response to your question, I think the US should require choosing either
community service or military service for two years at the age of 18 or
at graduation if that was extended for some reason.
