let's use this analogy (because it is something I find disgusting)....the Klan having a protest...as long as no laws are broken...they are within their rights even if I don't agree with their message or people protesting wars....as long as laws aren't broken (such as vandalism, assaults, etc) they are within their rights I hate the Klan. We have groups that volunteer to keep up areas of the highway. They get a sign saying that they are the group that's doing. The Klan got a sign.  There's nothing that could be done about it. It's not against the law. But..people kept tearing down the sign at night. It was costing the city too much money to keep replacing the signs. So...bye bye KKK.  Yes very good example. I hate that they got a sign to advertise their group, but it is with in the law. But I won't be out protesting it,even though I find it offensive. |

I actually have the right to call law enforcement any frickin time I choose to. Example, idiots that call 911 for McDonalds incidences. If you want to scream rights all day, then that free speech and freedom to feel how ever I want to. Now what law enforcement does when they get there, right or wrong, following the letter of the law or mucking it up is on them. Fine ... technically, you have the "right" to call the police about any stupid thing you want. Two potential unintended and undesired consequences from that, though, might very well be that 1) if your city, county, or state has a law against frivolous 911 calls, you could be arrested and jailed for trying to get someone in trouble who's not even breaking the law (as has been noted); or 2) what if one of your friends or relatives who lives near you is trying to call the police for something legitimate, but the police are getting a lot of calls at that particular time, and all their phone lines are tied up ... are you going to be comfortable with knowing that YOU kept someone from getting help that they NEED so you can exercise your "right" to call law enforcement and b!t¢h about something that isn't even against the law??? They have jobs to do, and the less of those kind of idiotic calls they get, the easier it will be for them to spend their time going after actual lawbreakers. This guy wasn't in "distress" that warranted a flag being flown upside down. He was out some money and ticked off. Once again, you have the "right" to feel strongly against what he did, but if he didn't break any laws, then the District Attorney and the police had absolutely no legal authority to do what they did. If they had arrested the guy, they would very likely have been in some serious legal trouble themselves. I'm not going to take the content of a newspaper article and condemn the guy, because there are far too many so-called "journalists" out there that can manipulate a story by writing it in such a way as to invoke certain feelings from the readership. That's why I'm sticking to a strictly legal interpretation of this incident in which the only laws that were broken were the ones broken by those who are supposed to be enforcing the law. |

Okay guys..go kick the **** out of the American people who don't agree with your ideologies to show what good Americans you are, who value freedoms that many of us have served, fought and died for...except for the people who don't do things YOUR way....(Yeah, the vets even fought and died for the hippies, left wingers and right wingers) I served this country so, I will speak my mind. Anyone that merciless and unyielding to different thought have got to be nothing but "Christians"...gotta spit after I say that God fearing American word...I need to lick my butt to get the taste out of my mouth... Good God...makes me wanna go fly a flag upside down just to lure you in........... Anyhoo..I am pretty sure THAT will get me canned for a day or three...but, That is the EXACT spirit of peaceful protest in our society...Saying or doing something that not everyone agrees with... If you are willing to physically assualt those who do not conform to your strict ideologies...it would be a good idea that we never find ourselves in arms reach...cause I was raised with not only the sense of freedom to express content or discontent..I was also raised with the stupid ideology of defending ones self...against all enemies..foreign and domestic (yeah, I took that oath too) and unlike alot of people..I was raised to be an actual fighter. (ironic that an actual circuit fighter is the one who thinks that violence is the wrong way to handle things in a civil American society) While I am waiting for the mods to delete this post and suspend or ban me for speaking the truth consider this... After reading such hard line, unyielding hatred towards a non violent act that hurt no one..that harmed nothing...yet apparently deserves a righteous @ss beating...I have lost alot of respect to people who I previously considered respectable...my mistake. Though, as much as religion rubs me the wrong way, not all christians would disagree with your definition of freedom.

I'm a Christian  , so according to you, I should be vilifying the guy who flew his flag upside-down ... if you read my posts, I think you'll find that I have tried to join the voices of reason here. Generalizations about Christians are just as abhorrent as generalizations about any other collection of people, whatever the common factor(s). There are many of us who actually see a person as an individual, and not just as someone to be categorized into one group or another.

Or he could specialize and only cater to those that believe in freedom of expression. I guess then it would depend on how uptight his area is if he makes it or not. course he might have folks outside beating the crap out of those that go to his restaurant too.
But heck that might bring him even more customers. But first he has to get his licence, and if he is dealing with people that don't like what he did, he might be in red tape so long he will give up on the idea himself. They say you can't please everyone but damned if you do and damned if you don't. |
