So I have noticed some trends while being single -- and I am asking you ladies to answer this one for me:

Why do you need to get to no one someone better "via" online before you give out your number?

What am I going to do? Search your number to find out where you live? Cuz...I mean I think being online has much more resources....ya know?

Or...is it a...."he's not good enough to have my number" thing?

Is that part of a bunch of hurdles we have to cross?

Because if it is, its the hardest...everything else after getting your number is EASY :)

I met a registered sex offender on another site. so I try to be VERY careful. plus I don't like talking on the phone so unless I have talked to him a lot and interested from the emails....it stays in email

I definitely agree with Jill on this one... that's exactly why

YEP!!! ^^^^^^^^

I won't even start immediately chatting on yahoo with someone who wants that right away. They can hack computers, too, you know? That's what scammers tend to ask for right away!! Anyway, if a guy can't handle a conversation online, he probably will be a dud spud on the phone.

It's much easier to stop unwanted email/IMs than it is to stop unwanted texts and phone calls.

I learned my lesson on this one the hard way. Gave my # to a guy who approached me at the grocery store. He proceded to call me so many times one day, that when I got home, he deleted all the #'s I had saved on my caller id from calling so many times. The caller id stored 50 #'s, so he called my house at least 50 times while I was at work. So, yeah...

Unless your a good hacker....its much easier to find info from a phone number than it is an online screen name.

I've learned over the last few years not to give out my phone number to easily. It can just lead to bad things happenin. If a guy really honestly wants to get to know me then he'll understand an respect my wishes an take the time involved to get my phone number.shades

Okay here goes

Guys I am not being a jerk - nor am I being macho - I am trying to be nice and help all of us with this response

What I mean is that we can say anything we want online. Because everyone is an author at heart. We have spell checks - wikipedia - dictionaries and yahoo/google. We get a chance to think before talk and we can do other things while talking to you.

Now get us on the phone?

No spell check so we have to use our vocabulary

No dictionaries/wikipedia so we have to use what we actually know

And we our talking to you and once we do not say something we get nervous or you ask what are you doing?

And we have to TELL YOU or make something up!

SOoooooooooooo

If you want to get to KNOW that man you are interested in....

Give him your phone number

If you do not like what you hear....then don't talk to him...if they continue to call over and over and over....stop answering and they will go away....trust me

Most weasels out themselves well before a phone conversation. That's been my experience.
Okay, so you want a phone number? I have a friend who will not allow even a call without the fellow giving all his info to HER so she can run a background check.
The calling protocol, if it gets there, is to give YOUR number to the lady so she can block her phone # when she calls you.
Granted, anyone can be a Ted Bundy, the guy sitting next to you in church or the guy in the checkout behind you....
But more often than not, they're not Bundy's. Just annoying stalker types who harass the crap out of you since you ARE their one and only.

I guess Billy you just have never experienced stalkers in your life. I have to agree with the women on here i don't give my number out untill i know the person well and fell comfortable with him. I also dont put anyone on my messengers either. I think if guy really wants to respect the womans wishes he will just go with the flow untill she is ready to go the next step.
