So I have noticed some trends while being single -- and I am asking you ladies to answer this one for me: Why do you need to get to no one someone better "via" online before you give out your number? What am I going to do? Search your number to find out where you live? Cuz...I mean I think being online has much more resources....ya know? Or...is it a...."he's not good enough to have my number" thing? Is that part of a bunch of hurdles we have to cross? Because if it is, its the hardest...everything else after getting your number is EASY :) For me it is to protect myself from men that are stalkers or crazy. It had nothing to do with someone not being good enough for me. |

I learned the hard way, guy just would not stop calling, all day and all night, call, hang up, call, hang up. I couldn't shut off my phone as my cell is the only one I have and I need it on for emergencies. And, to counter your argument of being able to lie online, it's just as easy for some to lie on the phone. A liar and a player are a liar and a player, whether it's online, phone or in person.
No more. |

because I can block a crazy stalker from emailing me... its more difficult to change my phone # hey I want my crazy stalker... |

Okay here goes Guys I am not being a jerk - nor am I being macho - I am trying to be nice and help all of us with this response What I mean is that we can say anything we want online. Because everyone is an author at heart. We have spell checks - wikipedia - dictionaries and yahoo/google. We get a chance to think before talk and we can do other things while talking to you. Now get us on the phone? No spell check so we have to use our vocabulary No dictionaries/wikipedia so we have to use what we actually know And we our talking to you and once we do not say something we get nervous or you ask what are you doing? And we have to TELL YOU or make something up! SOoooooooooooo If you want to get to KNOW that man you are interested in.... Give him your phone number If you do not like what you hear....then don't talk to him...if they continue to call over and over and over....stop answering and they will go away....trust me How quickly are you wanting to talk to someone on the phone? |

You cannot be seriously asking this question unless you want to relate it strictly to yourself. As in, "why don't these women want to give ME their number?"
The answer to the original post has been brought up many times already. It's a safety issue first and foremost. I'm careful who I give my number to and I'm a guy! I've watched you post and figured you for a relatively smart and decent guy. I can only surmise, as I said previously, that you are getting personally frustrated over this. |

End of story. |

guys watch this "I want to eat your bananas like wild coconuts on a spring day and watch you run wild through the wind chasing after the leftovers" Holy cow, did he just say that?!? Sure did! I BET I WOULDNT IF I WAS TALKING TO YOU ON THE PHONE Do you get what I am saying yet?!? You are exactly right billy!!! |

Sadly, because of safety concerns it pays to be cautious about who you give your number to, but, I remember a time when many of us didn't give it a second thought to giving a guy our number that we met, in a club, at the store, in the park, etc., Times have changed.
I don't text at all and IM leaves a lot to be desired. So much can be misinterpreted and you do not have the advantage of hearing their voice, seeing their facial expressions and mannerisms that add so much to language and commuinicating and getting to know someone. |

I BET I WOULDNT IF I WAS TALKING TO YOU ON THE PHONE Do you get what I am saying yet?!? You are exactly right billy!!! When I was still relatively new at this, I was e-mailing with a woman who appeared respectful and nice. She gave me her number rather quickly and I made the mistake (in retrospect) of calling and not blocking my number. Within five minutes she was starting to get into this totally cheesy and revolting phone sex crap. So don't tell me people will not get weird on the phone. SOMETIMES THEY ARE WORSE!!!! |

Yeah, this has happened to me. Boy did they change when they got on the phone. It was hard to believe I had been chatting with the same guy. |
