laugh if I knew someone did that...I'd be out there at 9:45 to move it and then stick my tongue out at the neighbor laugh

when I was younger I'd hear people complain about my landlord and couldn't understand their reasoning until I saw it first hand. It was a sight to see for sure, especially when all the neighbors got together and on purpose parked their vehicles on the wrong side (alt side pkg) there is strength in numbers laugh

I'd tend to be more like franshade's neighborhood. And that neighbor I spoke of has done just that, stood outside with a phone. I've had nasty unsigned letters on my trash cans when I didn't move them in the same evening as pick up. He is not very well liked in the neighborhood... even his own mother (yes he still lives with his mom at around 45yo) called him a twit.

Oh me and my visual mind, picturing an older lady, calling her son, "You twit" sorry but it's funnier in my mind laugh

Tehnically there is no such thing as private property, we only rent from them.

See what happens if you fail to pay your property tax.

It is one of the 10 planks of the Communist Manifesto. Abolishing private property.

Trust me it was funnier in person. She in her early 70's I think, we were standing out front and I was telling her that her son had called the cops again, this time because I was shooting pool in my back yard. She looks at me and says "Don't you worry about that twit he hasn't got it in him to do anything let alone call he cops". (the temptation to change her wording was huge because it could be even funnier but I remained true to what she actually said)

Children have ALWAYS played on sidewalks. It's safer then the street. See the chalk drawings on the sidewalks. They ride their bikes, roller skate, play square ball, hopscotch, and stepball. They push their baby dolls in strollers.

The backyard is for playing catch, swimming pools, water play, swing sets, sandboxes, etc. I have a tetherball and basketball in the backyard too.

can I come over and play

We had sidewalks growing up but mostly the little kids got to play on the sidewalks, us bigger kids played in the street - keep in mind was not a major street.

Yes, Fran, come over and play.

I did get rid of the sandbox though.laugh

And people still think this is a free country...

Would you like to live next door to a house that had junk cars parked in the front yard? Does it look nice when they have a couch in the front yard? It ain't pretty.

Rules make the neighborhood look nicer.

I do agree, though, that making a law to not park in one's own driveway is extreme.

No, and no. Not my right to tell someone what they can or can't do on their own property if it doesn't physically affect mine.

You buy land, it should be YOUR land. At least this was how was intended to be. I am NOT cool with controlling someones else's life.

In my opinion it's like not being able to romp on a sand dune or areas of a beach that has been there since the beginning of time because you might damage the ecology of it. Wonder how they fine Mother Nature when she sends in a storm that levels those same dunes for 50 miles after all their postings and prohibitions?

By the same token, it's okay for them to privatise a beach for an HOA that the public has no access to, yet on the beaches the public can access there is never any parking. When there is parking, somebody wants paid and the beach is usually the worst in the area. They also won't watch your car or take responsibility for it being broken into, but they will issue you a citation for whatever infractions they might find you or your car in violation of.

Yes, there is an abundance of both, greed and stupidity.

Not saying I agree with the ordinance, I've no idea what the water table is like in the area or anything else, but it really is a bit different. With the assumption that there is a potential for damage, damaging the look of an area only really damages it for the few who want to use it. Damaging the water supply effects every living thing including humans and for a much wider area than just immediate vacinity. And then the cost of cleaning up the mess if the water table is contaminated is astronomical and possibly down right impossible.
