Ever thought that you were one of the people that would never get married? and if so, could you deal with the thought of never really havinga family? never having that one person to come home to? is that something you think you could deal with? i wonder about that all the time.... what if marriage wasnt for me?

Great thread.I have chosen to not have kids in this lifetime.Not because I don't like them...but because i understand what a responsibilty they are..and I'm smart enough to know not to bring yet another unattended child into the world.Or just leave them with the mother to raise all by herself!
I also don't know about marriage...everywhere i turn people are getting divorced..or if they're not..they are cheating.I would love to share a committed life with one special woman..without the government getting involved in our union.
I respect marriages and families that thrive...I'm just saying...it is ok and normal to not want thoes things as well.It takes a secure and confident person to realize what they truly want for themselves...not what society dictates is the "NORM"

It all depends on how happy a person is with their independence. They are not trapped in a relationship; they can do what ever they want; they don't have to spend extra money; don't have to worry about arguments (if any)...and so on. A person may have a busy life where they don't have time for family...or may not want to change a thing in their life because they are happy. It all depends on the person. And maybe somewhere down the line when that person's life is slowing down, they may consider having a partner. Marriage isn't for everyone. I may not get married any time soon, but I know I want to be.

I agree. Marriage just isn't for some people. What do you want out of this life or the next? I want what is attainable, what no one can take from me, & what I will die with: knowledge. If you think about it you die with what you came with, nothing. To have children, to watch your loved ones die...you are only losing, but what you know pulls you through life, until you die. If we came into this world with unbound knowledge, what would the point be? Naturally, we would die with nothing, it's like the opposite effect. Wow. I'm crazy anyway, love waits for no man (or woman), so just be.
