I feel like I am aware of it for the first time in my life ... do we not all have demons? Are we not all doing something that "we are not supposed to be" doing?

Exercising demons .... risky business. I do what i shouldn't do because I want to examine the demon that wants me to do it .... in action.

And the payoff is the wisdom, and the true humility that trial and error provides as their gift, to those who walk that path ... for how can someone who has never exercised a demon know what it is like?

So begs the question - what is it to exercise a demon? And with this experience, what is there to share?

Give me a proper ontology for a demon then we can talk about it.

Is a demon just metaphor for your personality traits YOU consider undesirable? Is it metaphor for your actions you cannot control?

Or do you really think some kind of mythical evil entity is trying to mess with you?

I was kind of wondering about that also and that is why I didnt respond right away. When people use the expression, "wrestling with demons" it generally means they have some kind of a character flaw or addiction or undesirable character trait they need to keep under control.

But on the other hand, some cultures genuinely believe in demonic possession. In fact the Catholics still sort of keep exorcism at the ready but its more of a parlor trick now that can be pulled out every so often.

demons. i suppose in this context i am referring to gross manifestations of these traits that are part of my makeup

so i am stubborn. not a bad thing, darn handy in fact sometimes. but if i am not careful, these demon can quickly manifest arrogance, self-righteous anger, rage, and a host of other fun stuff ..

so the demon yes, to me, would be living/ sleeping in that lower vibratory state of the human condition, so too believing that i need to give it power

I, too agree that in order to exorcise our personal demons, we must be prepared to exercise them. In other words, you can't rid yourself of your personal demons until you know what they are and are able to really experience them. Acknowleging first that we all have demons, or character defects, flaws, or whatever else you want ot refer to them as, is just the starting point. I venture to say once you work through them, and possibly rid yourself of them, you will have invaluable information to share with others that may allow them to exorcise their own demons.

I don't think that the type of "demons" you are talking about are the same sort that need to be exorcised. I think you are referring the reptilian remnants of your psyche. Different topic altogether. Psyche "demons" are best dealt with by either a qualified shrink, or through personal experience. Step 1 is to stop feeling like these are things that are beyond your control and take control of them, beating those unwanted feelings back. Step 2 is figuring out what life conditions are causing them and eliminate or prevent those conditions from showing up while you continue to mitigate the unwanted behavior.

Just my two bits.

I would agree that the human brain has a much older amygdala with the much newer neocortex built over the top of it. Perhaps the conflict between the amygdala and the neocortex can explain why we humans enjoy rollercoasters and horror movies. Of course neither activity is really dangerous. Intellectually we know this, but we feel a sense of accomplishment when we overcome the primitive amygdala to get on the ride.

fascinating insight ..... stands to reason from my perspective, that all we have been and are today - on mental and spiritual planes - must result in measurable physical manifestations

to "exercise" these roller coaster veins then, purposefully, as opposed to the trials and tribulations of life - what is to be gained

for me it is the realization that i truly do hang my hat on God and change - the only constants in my life

There is no doubt demons exist.Evil is all around us and is always tempting us in every way.Yes I have had my fill of demons and have learned many things.

What feeds demons?Evil, hate, and bad thoughts. If you think you have demons you should take a look at your life and see how you are feeding them.I have learned that music especially dark metal, black metal, heavy metal, aggressive, and depressing music opens a door wide open to demonic possion. The bible said Satan was a musican and there is no doubt he speaks to us through music.Music can make us aggressive, hateful, spiteful, and give us a bad outlook on life.Bands like slipknot, disturbed, venom, marylin manson, cradle of filth, and others carry a powerful message of hate, anger, and depression which affects not only your mind but your life.

What kind of movies do you have in your collection?Do you have alot of horror movies?Movies like wrong turn, gangs of new york, texas chainsaw massacre, and others that show disturbing scenes of death and mutilation also will invite evil all kinds of demons into your life.Watching scenes of real death situations like those in the traces of death series or banned from television movies will not only warp your mind but will feed your demons like 5 star dinner.

What kind of people do you have as friends?People who are always pissed off, depressed,or losers only feed the fire.

Pornography and drugs.By far the two most toxic things you bring into your life. Both lead to a downward spiral of self destruction.

If you are wondering if I speak from experience, that I do.I had demons like you wouldn't believe.I saw everything from a black mist hovering over my ceiling,to transparent people sitting on the edge of my bed looking at me.I have had what felt like someone poking me with a stick in my back to turn around and see that nobody was there.I have had times where it felt like a giant rock was on my chest and was going to crush the bed into a bunch of splinters. My mother once said she was woken up and saw a image of me standing by her bed.She said I had a small black dagger stuck in my heart with all this black smoke coming out of it.She said she pulled it out and the colors changed from black to all sorts of colors.I can go on all night with stories but this is about you and not me.

There is only one thing that no demon can stand and that is the truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. If you want to get rid of a demon you need to start hanging around good people and watch and listen to movies and music that has a good influence on your life.Demons will not stay in a holy and good man. When I read the bible I feel like I have a suit of armor on me.I sleep well.I do not fear.Even Satan himself is powerless over me when I have the power of God on my side.Demons are always there waiting for me to slip back into my old ways but they are going to be waiting a long time because I know the truth and that set me free.

Try burning any CDs,movies,or other items you feel may have a bad influence on your life.It will feel like you have a weight lifted off your back.

I do not believe demons at this point in time and for who knows how long have had much to do with anyone.

For one thing they are still allowed to go back and forth to heaven as Satan did with Job.

Now I would think Satan would be the head deamon and the others doing as he has directed them.

King David a man after Yahweh'sa own heart was he possessed for a while?

He commits adultry gets her pregnat to cover it up has her husband sent to the front line of a battle where he was pretty sure would die.

Did David commit murder? I believe he did.

Then he seemed to be in some sort of spell because he did not see what he did was so wrong....Even Murder.

It took one of his own household to come to him with a story that was really about what he had did.

Then when he had David answer what should be done to him he was very strong he should be severly punished i forgot but probally death..

Then David's servant tells him this id you David that I just told you about.

It was like a light bulb went off and he realised he did not know what he was doing in all that.

Sounds like a demon to me had entered him.

When we see Satan out he went after the most righteous men on earth Yahshua and Job to try and trick them so that he could get power over them

In this same way i do not believe demons go after many at all.. The more fath a person has and is doing Yahweh's will is who Satan and his demons go after.

What would they care about anyone else. The next time we see satan being mentioned is when Yahshua is preparing to die and talking with the disciples.

What happens Satan is trying to get Peter to stray and Yahsua see this and tells him basically get away.

Then if you remember Yahshua's Prayer he asked that not one of his would be taken.

He knew Satan would try and trick them. Peter is the Rock Yahshua said he would build his assembly and thats who Satan tried to go after even with Yahshua thier.

Shalom...Miles

Point in case. demons are real and they do manifest themselves in people. they are spirits that seek life thru humans. Ephesians 6 " for we do not wrestle with flesh and blood, but with powers and principalities , spiritual wickedness in high places, and rulers of the darkness of this age"

if you think they are not real. think again. God is not mocked and scripture cannot lie. There are many examples of demon deliverances in the gospels. open your bibles and read Mathew, Luke and Mark.

Be not decieved. That anger problem you have is a demon, that addiction you have a demon, being blind, deaf and dumb are demon spirits. Everyone has a demon or demons they need to cast out.

some are easy to rid, others come out only with fasting and praying.

Demons are real and not just some character flaw. check yourselves.pitchfork pitchfork pitchfork pitchfork pitchfork

Sunshine...

just because people have anger problems,, or are blind, are have any other problems, deosn't mean they have demons !!!

Demons have to be invited in...in order to come into a person...they don't have authority to come in otherwise.

Fanny Crosby was a great poetess ....wrote great hymns for the Lord... .and loved the Lord with all her heart.
But she was blind.

Does that mean she had a demon?
No..of course not !!!!!

Ray Charles was blind.

Did he have a demon?
No..of course not!!!

Yes...spirits can OPPRESS people..but CANNOT POSSESS people..unless again, invited in.
