Not sure how true this was, but i when i was taking driver's ed, my instructor brought up some info about New Jersey.

Supposedly New Jersey had a major problem with car jackings. I guess they had strict laws for kidnapping (life sentence). Carjackers, knowing they would get the same sentence for killing the person driving the car they were jacking, would often shoot the driver so noone could identify him.

So in turn Jersey passed a law. It is legal for anyone to keep a loaded gun in their vehicle, and shoot anyone showing agression, or intent to take the car.

Murders concerning car jackings were almost completely rid of.

So go ahead, take away or restrict the hell out of guns for honest citizens. Then rely on the police completely for protection. Then wonder why our economy is so F-ed up, and violent crime increases.

Come on now. We all know we are SUPPOSED to keep our guns in a gun cabinet and locked. Especially if there are kids in the house. Now..I will not try and kid you. We never did those things back when. They were always loaded and ready for whatever.

Who is gonna take a knife to a gun fight?? Whatever. I do keep a knife close to my bed. In my drawer. My bat next to that. It is only for if I hear something at the door in the living room.

But...I must tell you..if someone breaks into my house...the whole damn neighborhood will know it. My 5 chihuahuas will scare us all awake.

No thank you. I have enough fear of wondering which people are carrying guns around me...too be giving it too much thought about them coming in and getting me. I am in more fear in my car at the store or in a parking lot.

Better have a good hiding spot for you and your family, just in case some crazy guy breaks in and is armed...

dragoness....do you REALLY think you can win in a gun fight????

what's the saying...don't bring a knife to a gun fight????

I am smarter than a gun. I may be smarter than any gun toter and I have had to fight men in my life for my life so what do you think?

so you are faster than a speeing bullet? and i thought texans brag

You don't have to be faster if you are smart. I never brag. Bragging is for those who have something to prove. I don't:wink: laugh

I am headed to bed. Good night all.

i don't care how smart you are....you can't out run a bullet

She's gonna stop it with her telekinesis cuz she's just that smart...

Why would a person NEED an AK47??
Kat

Our State Militias, for one.
You think the bad guys will give 'em up?
The Cartel, Skinheads, you local gangs?
We need to at least be equally armed against them.

I remember during exercises in Michigan, we were ordered to tie our weapons to the equipment we were wearing due to reports that the Michigan Militia tried to steal M-16's from training units. It was a good practice I guess, but honestly, no group in this country would be able to make a stand (justified or not) against our military. That being said, guns are fine to own to protect ourselves, but stockpiling fully automatic weapons and ammo??? If somebody feels that it's needed, I can point them to a better more powerful weapon, 'Education'

Hey Fanta, what would you think of a two-year manditory service in the military after highschool, where everyone is trained to use firearms. Upon completion of this service, you are given a military issued rifle with 500 rounds, and a military issued sidearm with 100 rounds, and a concealed carry permit...?

I think you will find the american military divided in this case. But even still, it is possible to win a war against our military.

You just need proper, unconventional, training. Not hard as the U.S. military as a whole, is big, and often slow. This is a weakness that is easy to exploit.

Conventionally they are very powerful. Unconventionally they are not. Look at Vietnam, Iraq, and Afganistan. This excludes those units trained in unconventional tactics of course.

Very true on that point. That old movie Red Dawn would be pretty accurate. Gorilla warfare would work very well, but they would be nationally dubed as terrorists these days instead of freedom fighters. Public opinion would be easily swayed against any uprising before it really started.

The problem for citizens really is the weapon stockpile issue. That makes for an easy target. I like the idea of citizens being able to own a certain weapon, just not being able to distribute them

When I was in, all troops, no matter what their future MOS, were potential grunts. We all trained on at least the M-16, 50cal, granades and launchers, and 45 Colt.
I say, train them all to shoot and defend.

Follow Me is the battle cry for The US Army Infantry Rose.

I am the Infantry.
I am my country's strength in war.
her deterrent in peace.
I am the heart of the fight-
wherever, whenever.
I carry America's faith and honor
against her enemies.
I am the Queen of Battle.

I am what my country expects me to be-
the best trained solider in the world.
In the race for victory
I am swift, determined, and courageous,
armed with a fierce will to win.

Never will I betray my country's trust.
always I fight on-
through the foe,
to the objective,
to triumph over all,
If necessary, I will fight to my death.

By my steadfast courage,
I have won 200 years of freedom.
I yield not to weakness,
to hunger,
to cowardice,
to fatigue,
to superior odds,
for I am mentally tough, physically strong,
and morally straight.

I forsake not-
my country,
my mission
my comrades,
my sacred duty.

I am relentless.
I am always there,
now and forever.
I AM THE INFANTRY!
