You know what? You don't. Unless you sleep with a gun and that is stupid. I did that as well. I felt like I had too. He was a very dangerous man. It is a wonder I didn't shoot myself in those days. In my sleep. If someone breaks in and wakes you...chances are..you are not going to wake up in time to find your gun and shoot an intruder.Not in your room that is. By the time you wake up and focus and by the time you do all that.....and if it is under lock and key...well...you do the math. Kat

330,000 people is not that large winx! The size of the city is Fanta. The city population decreased when desegregation started - just like other cities. But...we're building new and they're coming back. These are new figures and St. Louis is 330,000! There is not a single city in all of Missouri that ranks in the top 50 nation wide. NC has two in the top 50, and Detroit, 2nd in violent crime, is ranked 11th by population! Would suggest you check out the Greater Metro St. Louis area. It has over 100 different cities that make up the area. It is IMPOSSIBLE for the city limits of St. Louis to expand. This restriction dates back to pre-civil war days. The Metro St. Louis Area has everything from farms to inner city neighborhoods. Washington University is one of the top universities in the country. BJC and Washington University School of Medicine rank very highly. Does crime exist there - yes. It also exist in every city in the country. The inter time I lived in the St. Louis Metro area not once did I see some one in the grocery carrying a side arm. That cannot be said for living in Arizona where it is a common site. We can't forget St. Louis University either. I would hate for me and my child to see people in the grocery stores carrying guns. Crime in the suburbs of St Louis isnt relevant as its not listed winx! I found a site stating the neiborhoods where the violence is most prevalent and they are neighborhoods populated by 2/3 whites and are all over the city. South, North, and West! East (seems most blacks are confined here, 98% of the pop is black), actually is not the highest! There are 79 neighborhoods in St. Louis City. Twelve of those neighborhoods accounted for more then half of the crime. The majority were gang members. Yes, we are known as being a segregated city. I found the crime maps. It's mostly north and east. I don't live near there. It takes me over 45 minutes to drive there on the highway. Like I said, I live in a low crime area. Why are you arguing that? People walk around at night for exercise. I'm not afraid of where I live. That's why I bought a house there. Why are you arguing this?

i am a responsible parent as well...but if all someone has to do is pull a trigger to do harm to me or my son....i better have something to try to stop them

Charlotte and Raleigh are much bigger! It doesnt take 45 min to drive across either of those on the highway! Driving City streets is a different story, but you said highway! I'll post an article telling which neighborhoods have the worst violent crime if you want.

Come on now. We all know we are SUPPOSED to keep our guns in a gun cabinet and locked. Especially if there are kids in the house. Now..I will not try and kid you. We never did those things back when. They were always loaded and ready for whatever. Who is gonna take a knife to a gun fight?? Whatever. I do keep a knife close to my bed. In my drawer. My bat next to that. It is only for if I hear something at the door in the living room. But...I must tell you..if someone breaks into my house...the whole damn neighborhood will know it. My 5 chihuahuas will scare us all awake. No thank you. I have enough fear of wondering which people are carrying guns around me...too be giving it too much thought about them coming in and getting me. I am in more fear in my car at the store or in a parking lot. Kat
