Shes not that young.. 18 or 19 maybe. I didn't know you had to be old to know about the gay community. I hear too much about it all the time and I'm 27. Sometimes I wish they would be quiet for a moment and stop with the drama.

Oh wait, you can't have gays without having drama laugh

she's 21...old enough to drink, smoke, vote, serve in the military

Ah and that makes her an expert on gays? Hell I wasn't an expert on gays at that age and I was already gay. Because you can drink vote and serve doesn't make you worldly or an expert.

is anyone REALLY an expert??? i was pointing out that she is old enough to form her own opinion and take the consequences. for all we know she could have just answered that to win the crown. you'd be surprised at what people would do to win a pageant.

because someone may be against it or for it doesn't mean they aren't thinking for themselves. she may know alot of the gay community and formed her own opinion. it's everyone's right to have an opinion. in this case, she got cheered and boo'd. they asked the question and she answered it for whatever reason she formed her belief

my son is 18 and can think for himself and form his own opinion....whether it's the same as mine or not

'is anyone REALLY an expert??? '

I would say it wouldn't be a 'straight' '20' something. I would say someone that has been 'gay' for at least 20 years or more.
She took the consequences but I would have to doubt she formed her own opinion about gays enough to make an informed decision on gay marraige. You keep harping on rights here, Rose, I am just giving my opinion, nothing about rights. She can say whatever she pleases, so can I last time I checked.

laugh boo and so can I. I just know personally how pageants are and the politics of it. at what agre is someone able to form their own opinions without the parents being blamed? how does anyone know how she formed an opinion? how does anyone know that she doesn't know many in the gay community to form her opinion? how does anyone know that her answer wasn't just based on trying ot win a pageant?

Perez Hilton Calls Carrie Prejean, Miss California, A "Dumb *****" for Saying Marriage Should be Between a Man and a Woman During Miss USA Pageant
Posted by Janet Shan

I cannot understand why gays and lesbians feel that they must push their sexual orientation in our faces. I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman. They can't seem to respect the rights of others to feel that way. Did Perez Hilton, who asked the question about gay marriage to Miss California, Carrie Prejean, video-blogged on his website calling her a "dumb *****." Was that really necessary? Don't we have a right in this country to our own opinion?

Amen, lady. I agree with you.

Some folks would'nt not get the point if they were sitting on it. It's not about pushing sexual orientation. But frankly I am sick of explaining it...

pageants are all about popularity and image....nothing more. it's a lot like politics. the people that compete in pageants know what it is like. i applaud her for speaking her opinion....but she shouldn't be surprised at anything.

Yeah, if she'd have wanted to really win, she'd have taken a lesson from Politicians and told them what they wanted to hear.
She's a winner in my book for telling her truth, not just pleasing the crowd.

So were advocating lies now?

The judges should have been smart enough not to ask the question in the first place.

I agree.

And the fact that she stated it in a prejudice manner is what got her, not the content.

Understood.

It isn't about your personal views, it is about your pushing your personal views on the rest of humanity.

It is okay to believe you personally will never marry in your same sex, it is prejudice to push that belief on all of humanity.

apgeants are worse than politics IMO. the goal is to try to impress the judges. but judges at every pageant are different

My Constitution says "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness..." doesn't say anything about gays can't be happy too. There are laws, but any law can be changed by a process, and that is what's occuring, it's called democracy. If you want it (democracy), respect it and honor it, defend it, as without it, we're all doomed!

While people will be biased, opinions vary, that's life. To use it as an assault, in the form of a loaded question on national/world TV, furthering your own agenda, WRONG!

OK, I was proud she spoke her convictions. Everyone should. And the ones that holler homophob, racist because of it, advocate censorship.
The judges asked the question. Can't turn back time.

I never saw the question, did anyone else. Post it if you will please.

Ok willing, just for one second let's be serious.. this is what she said:

"We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage," Prejean said. "And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised."

Sound like it's rehearsed to you? ""I THINK THAT I BELIEVE"" THAT A MARRIAGE SHOULD BE BETWEEN A MAN AND A WOAMN. NO OFFENCE BUT THAT IS HOW I WAS RAISED?

Doesn't sound like a personal conviction to me, let her grow up first.

Mommy and daddy would be so proud, but they just might have told her later, you should have dropped the I THINK PART... Sounds very coached to me. Or do straight parents really teach their kids to talk like that.

Who the hell said anything about 'homephobe racist and advocating censorship?

When asked by judge Perez Hilton, an openly gay gossip blogger, whether she believed in gay marriage, Miss California, Carrie Prejean, said "We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite. And you know what, I think in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that's how I was raised."

Never much cared how they work, however from a gay or not it was a poor question to ask... He should have known what he was setting her up for. I would have harrassed his ass for asking it.
