Topic: I Have To, Why Shouldn't They?

I will say there are people on welfare that use it to get back on their feet but most of the people I know on it....it's a career. they go out and party with the money or spend it on things they don't need...like fake nails etc.

I don't mind my taxes helping people that are legit....but i don't want to support anyone just because they can't get off their butts. My aunt is one of them and would move state to state when the welfare ran out

Here is my chance to show you that you won't always agree with me. Sorry, I am a straight shooter, I won't sugar coat it for nothing.

Point 1:

Those who use welfare to get back on their feet, should use their savings that they put away for a day like this, a rainy day. Instead, they were dancing all summer. Now that winter has come, they need someone else savings.

Point 2:

You are (any anyone else) free to help anyone you wish privately, if you feel that these people need money. Why should we take money by force from everyone? Thanks but, no thanks! I'd rather save for a rainy day then feed those who couldn't care less.

Not everybody can afford to have a savings. Many people are barely making it from paycheck to paycheck. Some people that had savings no longer have that money due to medical catastrophes.

so do you like the money you earn being spent by someone eles whos buying cigs, beer, weed, and flat screen tvs with it?

I know that welfare is barely enough to live on and requires more help then what they receive from that check. If they are getting those things, they are receiving monies from elsewhere or receiving gifts. Maybe they even owed that flat screen before they went on welfare.

The people that commit welfare fraud are the minority and they are criminals.

Again, welfare is barely enough to live on.

Oh no they are not, not here anyways......the most a family of four can even receive in a month is 463 dollars. And if they receive welfare the state takes their child support. Most peoples child support is higher than welfare, so they don't even take it. Welfare laws rules and regulations have changed dramatically and change more all the time. Since the law changes there has been a 40% drop in welfare recipients in this state and many others.

Seakolony,

I don't understand how they expect a family of four to live off of $463/mth. I know that the food stamp amount is not high either.

i will admit i do know some good people on welfare they need to reform the system because the ones that are actually trying to get off of it keep going back and forth because they try to get back on their feet and you can get a job at mcdonalds and make to much money to be on welfare its hard to get on your feet if you cant get at least a little money saved up...........oh and the drug test deal if you have a cdl it is federal law any trucking company over so many employees (cant remember the number i think its 40)must do random drug tests look it up in the department of transportation handbook

so wouldnt if they are just sitting around on their ass' collecting a check not bothering to get a job and smoking weed be considered criminal?
or if they arent even legal in this country yet can get a check every month any way but say a father with 2 little girls working his ass off but still doesnt have enough to feed his kids be denied?
how do they figure that one out?

Yes well that's what they get, most of them have to live in public housing, rely on food benefits (no longer food stamps), get help with electricity, and childcare if they are working or in school F/T.

I work as a Senior Social Worker in Health and Benefits. I see what happens everyday.

And those drug slingers that have been caught dealing and trafficking are not eligible to receive any benefits.

Drug addicts must go through a treatment facility before being allowed to receive benefits for cash or food.

illegals are not entitled to food benefits or cash benefits

illegals are allowed medical if they have something that may be life threatening or for prenatal and aftercare ONLY!!!

If their children are born here on US soil, then they are US citizens and entitled to benefits.

Food Benefits family of four with three illegals

allowed benefits for one

income counts against benefits percentage wise
say the income for the family is 1200 a month
400 is the citizens income counted
expenses say it is 1200 month rent they get an allowance of 400
the most the one child can receive in FB is 176 a month

most a family of four of US citizens would receive 465 month

Its federal law and all states must adhere to it, now drug addicts must have been arrested for it for the laws to apply

I know a couple people that have been on welfare. It bothers me when people stereotype welfare recipients as getting rich so they stay on it. It's called poverty! And...they can only stay on it for 5 yrs. in my state.

Welfare always has and always will carry a stereotype with it, that is just the way it is. Most people do not even now the laws of it or the reform it has undertaken.

If they have a child while on benefits, that child is not eligible to receive food benefits or cash assistance.

There are imperfections with every system and every business in this world. There are people who do wrong in every system and business in this world too. They exist in all walks of life and have done so since the beginning of time. They are the minority.

They may have undergone an approved rehabilitation and once completed are eligible again.
