not everyone will "like" each other.
we all have different personalities.
that makes us who we are- it would be boring
if we were all the same.
one of my favorite things to do is sign on
and read the threads.

OK, Lily, let me phrase the question a little differently -- would YOU
ever tell a newbie -- one who was not being rude or offensive, but
simply asking a perfectly legitimate question -- to "eat a d**k"?

See, I don't think you would. I have read enough of your posts to
recognize a high degree of civility and respect in you. You wouldn't
lower yourself to that level without just cause. You certainly wouldn't
jump all over some clueless new guy who simply wanted a question
answered.

And that's the whole point....

Lex is absolutely right

not a person i would call friend

I've not had any negative responses since joining the site( no responses
period) but had I received a response like that this site would have
been history period.

How anyone could condone that type of behavior is beyond me! I would not
and will not!

Sadly, personal loyalties make people blind to their own double
standards.

Steve, I would hasten to add that the incident I mentioned is a very
isolated thing -- the vast majority of the people here, both the
old-timers and the newer members, are intelligent, caring, supportive,
helpful, and friendly types --

I can count the "problem children" of JSH on one hand and have a finger
or two left over....

Massagetrade: "Sadly, personal loyalties make people blind to their own
double standards."

Yikes, you just said, in one sentence, what took me 43 pages to say.

I REALLY need a new editor....

Lex, I agree with your post, and sorry you had the problem when you
first came on. I have been here since August, one of the real
old-timers in more ways than one. I have had my run-ins with Spay on
more than one occasion but choose to just ignore him. Why bother?

I doubt you will ever get an apology from Spay so why not just let it
go, heck he even e-mailed me during his "banishment," with an insult. I
don't even care enough about him to care anymore.

I would hope we can just bury the hatchet (won't say where) and start
over from here. What happened in the past is over and done with,
nothing to do to change it now. I like you and Whisper, you are my
friends and I don't want you two to leave, you two make this a fun place
to be.

I am sorry he has interacted with some of the newbies the way he did
with you, that is just wrong, I wish they had reported him when it
happened, good God, how inappropriate. Walk in the door and get slapped
in the face.

Lily, as I posted in Whisper's thread, not sure why you are so angry
today, but wish you would calm down and think things over and think
about how you would have felt if it had happened to you. I haven't
interacted with many of the new folks, but they seem to be really nice
people. Just my 2 cents.

Interesting thread, I do believe there is some community building gong
on here.

Time frame wise I’m somewhere in the middle, I don’t qualify as an old
timer and past the newbe stage. Don’t even know who the OTmrs or the CS
group is. Guess I again fall in that nowhere zone where I just need to
know and define myself.
At first, I did feel that “being on the outside” effect. Sometimes I
still think I’m out there. Seems it does take a while to integrate and
then when that happens, the jsh organism has changed.

What I do know is that I enter this site like I enter life. I choose the
topics where I believe I have something to say or can have a positive
contribution. There will always be jerks, in fact I had a rub with
someone the other day. Actually made me feel like crap. I’m not into
drama.
There would be less drama if everyone could express themselves without
any emotion.. - …Then again wouldn’t that be just down right boring.

I’m not sure how many threads like this there are, and don’t care. What
I do believe is that they are way more productive at getting people to
communicate than “Do you want to have sex with the picture above you”

Thanks for the thread Lex! And for generating all this lively
conversation.

I think opening up the site to a more international audience would cause
more ripples than you currently are experiencing.

Im currently watching a 1950s promo film made for children entitled
"Duck & Cover" Its about Bert the turtle who hides in his shell when
danger is near.
Its all about what to do when a nuclear bomb goes off. Duck under the
nearest table and cover the back of your neck.

So, in the 1950s there was a lot of ignorance about what happens when
the bomb goes off.

Same here ...

To enrich the site with differing opinions is going to be a painful
experience, but as long as an open minded view is taken, the majority of
people dont need to duck under the table and cover their ears to
dangerous views.

come out of all this.

Opening up to an international audience would be nice if everybody spoke
one language.I chat with people from around the world and it is awsome!

I'd hate to miss out on fascinating conversations with people from other
countries because someone thought it was funny to say 'eat a d#ck' to a
first time poster...
