I was merely responding to "Christianity eludes" me, and to the statements that God is hateful and not pure love. Through Jesus Christ, we see love at its purest. Jesus said, "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends" (John 15:13). The picture of pure, passionate love is caught in the frame of Jesus loving you while hanging on the cross. If you wish to paint God as a monster, that is your misfortunate outlook and not my own. I will not have that lie told without countering it. I have been asking for you to counter it and you have not yet. |

The "lies" are those written by man, only the best were contributed to form the bible. Where there is any perpetual truth... you will never KNOW. Time will tell... I dont think you can honestly justify a comparison to the hateful god of the bible and Buddhism. I don't think you really care to understand the essence of purpose and reasoning behind the teachings of the bible. I think you instead have it as your twisted hateful mission to despise and show contempt for what you really don't care to understand. |

What would be advantageous to a supposedly "omniscient being" to eradicate any other previously existing spirituality or even religion? Once again it sounds just like the jealous boyfriend or girlfriend who is hell bent on demanding that you sever all ties from others of the opposite sex that you might have shared a relationship with prior. What normally causes that behavior in a human? A sense of superiority? Or insecurity? The bible was written by men so there is no other point of reference. I will tell you one thing. It does not stem from "love". Here's another word that goes along with negative thoughts of God...obsessed...decieved. Are you making a point here? Obsession and a feeling of being deceived would also be emotions experienced by humans and NOT omniscient beings. Correct! That's what humans experience in their warped views of God... obsessed with thinking God is the "bad guy," & decieved by the devil..the father of lies himself. |

Well you do have to admit that it wasnt Satan creating a huge flood to wipe all humankind from the face of the planet as well as all the innocent animals. What did they do exactly to warrant that out pouring of anger from god?

Back to the OP, of course the christian god had to be a jealous god, there were a lot of other gods in the picture when man created him. In order to stop the traditions of man and women with these other gods, this new god had to remove them from the running for their support.
Considering man, a jealous creature himself, created this god in his image, it all makes sense that this god is jealous, violent, superimposing, etc... Everything that man felt were his "natural" rights being the top predator on this planet show in this god creation. |
