Yes it is very interesting. I remember reading this before. (Not this particular article) but the story. I mean my goodness Sumerian Mythology is really been dissected in so many stories. Enki was also known to come from a different planet. Supposingly there are stone tablets that once showed 12 planets in our system, as of one planet called Nibirus and so forth. I am sure MirrorMirror or JeannieBean can get into more detailed on this as I still remember the story faintly. I got the gest of it so to saylaugh

I know that many of the later religions come from Sumerian and Egyptian religions. I mean it is very possible if one cross references these religions/mythologies there can only be similiarities. One person who really did alot of research in Mythology was Professor Joseph Campbell. My goodness if you read his articles, books, or even his videos you can only sit and stay fascinated.

I wish he would be alive today. I would participate in his classes for sure.

but yes there is still much to be discovered from these cultures and I even think there were earlier ones we don't even know about that are deep buried in the ground.

Hopefully technology will advance to where we can learn even more of these fascinating discoveries. This is when you wish you were Indiana Jones and just go out and explore the unknown to return back with some incredible history that every Museum in the world wants.

Even if the stories are not true from all of these religions or mythologies they make such great fantasy stories. They have really helped my imagination create some great books in the past.

i have searched for an hour looking for mention of angels in pre-monotheistic religious cultures and have come up empty!! it seems [at least until someone points me to other sources] that angels have there beginning woth monotheistic beliefs, anybody dispute this?

all answers welcome.
I for one would never dispute that you may or may not have done something!

Scroll up, Smiles found that the Sumerians had basically invented the concept of angels or something very similar.

laugh, laugh, laugh, if you will, just remember, in the end, reality may become a bitter pill! I hope no one on this planet, self included, ends up with egg on their face when it is all said and done!flowers

Well the issue is the similarities between the bible and the Sumerian tablets, yet the Sumerians pre-dated Moses and the writing of scripture by thousands of years.

as to Krims and smiles info - I'm very happy to see this - it helps explain a lot - though i have known some of this in the past this is very helpful in seeing where these ideas of winged beings first came about. though i know it does not suit the christian/judeo thoughts, it does give credence of why these other myths would have angels that battled one another. and seeing this carried over by the latter. now this makes sense. the book angels don't!!

nor gods need of such beings to do battle in his name or for him - it just don't make sense that any true god would need an army to protect him from anything he supposedly created and especially with such inadequate weapons, i would think the least god would have created would be laser guns or spirit dissolving guns if it was his intent to try to kill spiritual beings. in reality it would have been easy for him just to have said be gone and have it done with and no need for wars.

the very fact that god would allow wars in heaven as well as earth is a big reason i don't believe that god is "the" god, but just mans ideas he pawns off as a god to meet his own self-centered agenda's.

It's to bad others cant see this - spock

There are many gods. More than are able to be counted. We have the right to worship any god we want to. For some, Knowledge is god. For others money, for others.........well you see where I am going with this. It all comes down to if and who you want to serve while you are here. If you wish to serve no one. Well,,,I don't ,"in reality", understand how that could be possible other than suicide. And that's just simply not the answer for anything.

Why do you have to "serve" anything?

you don't have to, you can starve to death if you really want to. but to keep from doing so. you will have to give a certain amount of service to something to get the food into your mouth and down your throat. you will either serve the the earth by planting and reaping, or serve a employer, or a welfare worker with you time. See what I mean? I guess to some people proving that there is no god is there god or master or lord or commitment while alive! I t doesn't make a lot of difference to anyone except the individual as long as they are not taking from other to serve their master god lord etc

But thats not what you said. You implied that you had to "serve" a deity of some sort. I would hasten to disagree. noway

I guess. I misinterpreted. Im not sure. I dont really consider working as being in service to someone. Maybe because I enjoyed my career, made my money and got out young. Everyone is different in that respect.

If you have a horrible job that you hate, then yeah I could see it becoming a service in a sense that you hate yourself for doing and feel like you have no choice.
