Funches, Taoism as a philosophy has no "God" We don't call the Tao a god

"Maikuru" you referred to it as being "The One" ...so if the Yin and Yang was created from "The One" ...then what according to Taoism created "The One"

Where is the proof that anyone on here, this web site, is as they say they are? Even if someone says they know someone and they are who they say they are, it proves nothing. I guess we all must have a little faith in the fact that people are what they seem like on here. I am not saying we should all get on the www and disclose our real names or personal information. We know from experiance of others, again a thing of faith, that it is not safe and we may get hurt in some way. Just a little food for thought. As far as this angels with swords thing, I don't know, I believe a certain thing about it because I choose to based on the experiances I have had. Angels do fight and argue. Lets let them do that and try to see a better way of people living on this planet!

The difference between a real, live human and a mythological beast is I can go into your house Marty and give you a DNA test and observe you for several weeks and evaluate you and document your existence and record my research.

Not so much with an angel or mermaid.

Just a thought that maybe angels with swords comes from a idealogy of previous religious who mention weapons in their belief systems. It just carried on. For example we look at Greek Mythology, Ancient Egyptian Mythology, and Norse Mythology. All religions at one time and still are in some parts of the world. I guess people categorize them as sects now.

My all time favorite is Thor with his mighty warhammer!

It is just carried over.

What would be interesting is to see what belief system first came up with the idea of angels to find the comparison or similiarities to the stories to the religous doctrines. To be able to cross examine them in otherwords.

I would guess that the earliest forms of religion, predating the male designated Monotheistic deities were much more peaceful and egalitarian in nature. It was only much later we begin to see a shift towards aggressive and jealous male gods and finally a sole male deity that can "give birth." huh

Call it Blind Faith......call it I am my proof....I have story after story of Angels in my life so be it for me....you can beat it to death Krimsa...I only have what "I" know.....and for me, myself, and I.......They are real as God & Christ to me......so does you no good to try to analyze it to me.....it' means nothing to me...because no matter what...my Faith will always be stronger then what you could say.....Also no matter what any of you can say scripturally I can always back up anything you dispute...Now again you don't believe any of it.....So I say to you move on to some other sucker...because you will never change my mind on what I know to be truth. So in the whole scheme of life for me...Does it really matter what you try and prove.....nope

Again as far as catholic and what they believe...that again is their gig......I brought it up to prove a point..and for me anyone that worships idols including the catholics is worshipping false idols...including Mary....Mary had her place in in the context of the bible and in the life of Jesus she did an amazing thing...But I don't worship her....Also to the Saints...I don't take who they are away from them I just don't worship them.....Same would apply to statues of Mother Teresa, I honor her and think she was an amazing human being....but worship her...never...that is reserved for God and Christ...

Deb, the point is that no one person can say this is what an angel looks like and this is how they breed or this is why they do this and dont do that.

No one can know these things conclusively because no one has captured an angel to study. The same would apply to mermaids in the sea. Some sailors claim they have seen them.

Until they capture one, they will remain mythological.

Therefore, you can not say the Catholic assessment or description of an angel is incorrect.

Thats just because you dont approve of Catholicism.

Perhaps the idea taken from a more peaceful religion that was later alternated to a mind who made it more violent is possible.

It could be possible the very first angel creation didn't have weapons in their hands and later on added in later religions.

I am sure if someone cross examined this more it would evolve into more theories or conclusions. Maybe even find a fact in there somewhere.

Ive actually posted some of this before and it is based primarily in archeological research and data. Im not going to bother with it in this thread though if its about much later Christian angels and what not. Pfft.

No I dont at all. Angels are Christian in origin. There are other winged deities. But Christian angels dont even have wings in all cases. They are not always depicted as having wings but certainly not human.

2nd question, why would a loving god want to have or use weapons? why would there be any weapons/chariots/spears or any other "weapons" in heaven? Could not god wipe them all out with a word, or banish them from this universe? This talk of angels seems to me to be nothing but bull, if he can't control his own creations and needs to do battle with them, what does that say about his so called "omnipotence? explain if you can please.

By Jove I think Tribo's Got it

you finally understand the point I was trying to make in that other thread....why would a God have the "need" for weapons, angels fighting, chariots or humans...

the fact that a supposely omnipotent God would create anything would in fact prove that it wasn't omnipotent ...and not a God

well no your question was why does god have a "need" to create, mine is why does he have a need to "make war" with his own creation?

the only thing i can see is since he is not capable of creating something as perfect as he is he had no choice but to create inferior things. if he could create things as perfect as he is then he wouldn't be "the god" anymore but just one of many. he's a jealous god, don't like competition.thus - angels and mankind - but as to "need" i think it was not need but boredom or desire etc.. but really i dont care, he did not care enough to ask me if i wanted to participate and i dont care to conform to his rules. enuff said.

God could "make us " love him, but then he'd have a bunch of zombies, it would not be true love. Love comes from the heart of free thinking, free willed entities, we were created in his likeness, we have choices, some make bad choices
