Topic: Wiccans - part 2 | |

The Satanism thread got to stay in General Religion and mine got the boot???? That just seems strange to me. Ruth, since you are not actually in wicca, you might start another thread in the general religion forum. Call it "Church of Mother earth." |

Well, I think their logic is that this is a dating site for people to meet and discuss mutual interests. So, if you mark your religion as Catholic or Baptist then you don't necessarily want to be meeting "other" religions. Just my guess.

I guess "other religions" are bad and might potentially lead to social unrest and discussion.

Or perhaps they have been judged "extremely damaging to society's ability to grow towards positive things."

I'm not here to find a soul mate or husband, I'm here to kick some butt in a debate. |

I know. I'm really torn about this whole thing too. I could care less about meeting someone here. I like to talk about witchy stuff!

I know. I'm really torn about this whole thing too. I could care less about meeting someone here. I like to talk about witchy stuff! Im a little annoyed with the description designation on the two forums. General Religion Discuss religious issues with members of all religions Other Religions Meet singles from less-common religions It makes it sound like in General Religion thats where you will find all the "real religions" and discuss actual issues. But in "Other Religions" thats where all the hot singles (and weird Pagan women).hang out and you can pick up on them there. What the hell, man?? |

Well, I plan to post more in the General Religion thread about paganism. After all, I'm not even Wiccan. None of us are!

Yeah they probably put this thread in "Other Religion" just to fill it with something. The fact that its gone on for two sections is remarkable. Of course its been mainly you, me, Abra and JB posting in it but thats alright. There have been a smattering of others, even Christians which is cool.

I have had about a dozen people contact me via private email with questions because of this thread. They don't post here, but they follow it. We may be the only ones posting here, but I would bet there are many who are reading it.

Exactly and if it helps or reaches one person then it doesn't matter where it is placed on the forum. Its been a good thread and very informative. You could maybe start another that is more general like "Paganism" which could just be anything other than Christianity, Judaism and Islam. I think those are the three that people tend to believe are "General Religions"
I know there is very often people who are seeking something else in their life or they are done with one religion but are afraid to take that step and certainly dont want to speak publicly about it because they fear repercussion. They might have friends online etc... |

Yep, I definitely think that's it. Good idea about a new thread.

I have been trying this out.
If you change your profile to being Jewish, this forum goes away and there appears a Jewish one. So all the other religions seem to have their own forums, and general religion is where everyone meets to fight. |

Well, I plan to post more in the General Religion thread about paganism. After all, I'm not even Wiccan. None of us are! This is so true Ruth. I'm becoming very serious about witchcraft and shamanism, but I'm not the slightest bit interested in becomming a Wiccan or even necessarily supporting Wicca as an organized 'religion'. So for me, whilst this is indeed a spiritual journey of power and enlightenment, it's not a religion. Pure and simple. I'm willing to share what I know with anyone who is truly interested. I have absolutely no desire to waste my time talking about it with anyone who isn't interested. If they aren't interested then why would they want to talk about it anyway? Also at this point I think if anyone asks me about it I'll just point to Christopher Penckaz's books and say, "There you go". |

I wish I could change my profile and make Christianity disappear off the face of the Earth. Just kidding...kind of. |

Well, I made Wicca the title of my original post because it is the most commonly known of the Pagan religions and is usually the least offensive to people. I knew it would attract all types of "free spirits" (thanks for the term, JB) to the topic. So, we'll keep this thread, but I'll be starting some in the General Religion. they probably won't last like this one, but things can be discussed. |

I wish I could change my profile and make Christianity disappear off the face of the Earth. Just kidding...kind of. Truly. It's such an obtrusive, intolerant, and historically a genuinely hateful religion. It has personally been a curse to me even since I had been raised into it. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. I wish I would have been raised by intelligent people who understood witchcraft and shamanism. These are truly beautiful philosophies. They are aimed at serving the creator and creation and harming none. What could be more beautiful? No hateful guilt-trips and teaching people to become bigots. Those Bible-based religions make me angry because they are indeed truly hurtful and harmful. And what makes matters worse is that so many idiots have been brainwash to proselytize them! That's what truly makes the religion so sadistically sick. This is one thing nice about having an 'Other Religion' forum. At least people can't come in here and proselytize that crap. Now they'll be stuck with having to proselytize to themselves. That's cool. |

And like I say, we won't need to have proselytizing threads popping up in our face all the time. I think it's hilarious. Now the Christians will be stuck only proselytizing to themselves. That's the way it should have always been. |

That is funny if you think about it. We don't have access to their preaching.
