Ello.

Mr. Shopper here with a new report. laugh

I finally picked up a couple of mats to start the 5 rites exercises on. I'm not real happy with these mats, but it's all I could find for now. They're just rubber camping mats for putting underneath a sleeping bag.

But they'll do until I can find something better.

I also received my athames today and the magic wand crystal.

The athames are really cool. They are actually better quality than I was expecting. In fact, at first I was afraid they might be kind of cheap looking and real lightweight and feel like plastic toys or something.

But no, they are very rich looking, and quite hefty.

The Goddess athame is 14" long overall with a large 9" double-edged dagger blade. I was also afraid that it might be overly dull, like with real rounded edges, but to my utter amazement this thing is sharp enough to shave with!

I know that athame don't need to be sharp because they are never used for cutting physical objects. So I was kind of expecting a really blunt edge. But this dagger's as sharp as a razor. You could murder a crusader with this thing. laugh

The God athame (which isn't necessarily traditional in Wicca) is also truly awesome. It's almost 13" long 7-1/2" blade. Also quite hefty. The craftsmanship is superb. It comes with a wooden sheath that slips over the blade and actually 'snaps' on tightly to the blade at the handle. So when the sheath is on the dagger it feels like a solid one-piece thing.

Very nice! I'm well pleased. These tools already reverberate with me simply because they are 'just my style'. That's why I picked them out.

The Goddess dagger truly feels feminine to me as well as having a luminescent etheral feel to it. It has a white pearl handle with nature scene painted on it with a black eagle flying with wings spread.

The metal parts are silver like moonlight with intricate engravings.

The God dagger feels masculine to me, it has a carved wooden handle and matching wooden sheath. Wood redminds of the forest where the Horned God often roams. the metal parts on the knife are golden or bronze and also contain lots of intricate ingravings.

Now I need to build a pentacle altar table. And a magic wand to hold the quartz wand crystal.

It's a nice large crystal too! bigsmile

I think I am sticking with my Yoga as it seems to make me feel better than the 5 rites.

I used to do yoga exercises years ago too, and I think I still have the book around here somewhere.

They too were focused on the main sites of spiritual energy.

In fact, the 5-rites are originally from Yoga aren't they?

I meant to buy an exercise suit. Just a flimsy running suit. Although I think I have some around here somehwhere.

I prefer to do my five rites in the nude. For some reason I can bend and twist much better without clothes pulling on me.

Of course I close all the curtains and lock the door. Its a ghastly sight and I wouldn't want anyone to have to see it. laugh laugh laugh laugh

nudism is nothing to be ashamed of

I'm not ashamed of being nude, I'm ashamed of my out-of-shape over weight body because I know I acquired it from being lazy and eating too much.

Gluttony and slothfulness has a price.

I cant exactly exercise in the nude because I have to go outside up into a hayloft sometimes with 6 feet of snow. Besides that, Im using a treadmill so ya, with breasts and all, not going to be very practical. happy

Wimp huh? Okay little Miss California. Come spend a winter in New Hampshire. laugh I used to live in Cali actually. Its lovely but a little bit expensive. Plus just owning property there is pretty difficult. I might come back for a visit though. I have a lot of friends/family there so I should stay in touch.

Abra,

Glad your athames turned out to be nice quality. That is the truth and sometimes you cant always predict what you will get when ordering online. That doesnt just go for knives but anything. Its great when you find a shop or shops that you know are good and arent going to screw you or over change for crap. I have never bought an athame but Ive had my eyes on a couple for years. i should just pick one. Usually I settle on one, and then I look around some more and want another. Typical woman. Thats why I could never successfully settle into a design for a tattoo either. laugh

I did get this just recently at Magickal Cat. I was drawn to it and she gave me the thread to make a choker free. Nice folks they are at that shop. The pendant was nice quality also and looks cute. Its just the right size for my neck.

I'm totally happy with the athames I bought. I feel that I was spiritually led to them. Almost as if the gods had helped pick them out.

I must confess though I could easily become a collector of athames just as a hobby laugh

For example, I found the following two athames that I'd really like to have in a collection. They are really pretty. However, they don't draw me spiritually like the ones I already have. I'm totally comfortable with the ones I bought for spiritual purposes.

But for just collecting, these are cool:

One is damn near a sword. I'm not about to get into collecting athames though. But their fun to look at the pictures.

By the way, I like your fairy pendant, that touchs my soul too. It's just my style.

We think a lot alike, from homesteading to witchcraft. bigsmile

Crystal Balls

I almost bought a 6" crystal ball.

I never used to believe in crystal balls, I thought they were just myth, in how they could be used to see things.

But then I read about how they actually work. The article I read explained that the crystal ball is more like a screen for the subconscious mind to project into.

Once I understood "scientifically" how this could be so, then I suddenly began to realize their value.

However, they are expensive and I'm not anywhere near the point of being able to use one. So for me to purchase one now would be a total waste of time.

So I bought Christopher's books instead for about the same price.

Maybe by 2010 owl be psychic enough to actually use one.

A lot of people believe that a person needs to be born a psychic, or not. And I do believe that many people do have a natural tendency to be in touch with the subconscious psyche innately. However, at the same time I also believe that ultimately all humans have the ability to access the subconscious psyche.

In fact, when I was a young child I think I was much more attuned to teh subconscious psyche than as an adult.

I believe that I can regain those abilities. And this is why I think Christopher's books can help.

I'm also doing things to help get me back in touch with my inner child, although in truth I don't think there was ever a time when I was completely out of touch with him.

But I do remember how I could imagine as a child, and I'm working on regaining that ability.

Of course, crystal balls aren't unique, water mirrors work just as well, and even incense smoke in candlelight can work as a projection media with a suitable backdrop.

I'm really looking to learn to control my mind in 2009 so I can recontact my inner child in full.

To me personally, witchcraft is all about making contact with my inner child, or higher self.

It may not be that for other people, but this is what is is all about for me. And the gods are just facades of my inner child. flowerforyou

I still like the idea of a crystal ball though, because I love stuff. I'm a manifestation maniac. bigsmile

I think the material world is beautiful and there's nothing evil about it at all. It's the creation of the gods.

If you can't afford a crystal ball then make yourself a scrying mirror.

Take a frame with plain glass in it and spray one side of the glass with black paint and let it dry.

It can serve the same purpose as a crystal ball or a scrying bowel. When you gaze into the mirror be sure that it is at an angle that you do not see the reflection of a window or your own face.

Black shiny rocks, or clear quarts rocks can serve the same purpose. It gives your mind a place to focus.
