She didnt abandon him when he was a POW she waited and waited and raised his kids. He probably did pay her a nice check but there is such a thing as emotional abandonment. It just doesnt sit well with me that a man like that could become president, it showes he lacks compastion. I am working on my firewood outside break over I wil return next break

i think there are alot of conclusions drawn without facts.

personally, i'm far more concerned about what the future president is going to do to for the good of the country, economically, and elsewise, rather than i am about what went on in his (or anyone else's) bedroom.

and it does make me laugh to see that this is the best that someone can dredge up to try to prevent his election into the whitehouse.

Well, I can't believe I'm actually gonna do this but here goes. Since I don't have a timeline as to when he left and when he met the current Mrs, perhaps I'm way off-base on this. But, in VA, you must be physically separated for at least one year before you can file for a divorce, which then takes at minimum 3 months to go through the courts, most likely more if there were any issues of dispute. He could have met the current Mrs. at any time AFTER he left but before the divorce went through. Technically, yes I suppose it could be construed as an affair but it doesn't mean he left his ex FOR his current.

As to the reasons for their divorce, the world may never know and really, is it any of our business? So, she was the mother of his children. Happens every day, unfortunately. So, she was hurt in an accident, again, unfortunately it happens every day. Her accident and any problems arising from it may or may not have had anything to do with anything. Fact of the matter is, most marriages end simply because people grow in different directions. It's not a choice people make and often it happens, despite great effort at one or both parties to change things. They spent a great deal of time apart, due to circumstances beyond their control. They both went through extremely traumatic events. And unless you've been there, you have NO idea how those events can change everything about you (and yes, I know that from experience). It could very well be that they both wanted this marriage to end and they were both ok with it.

Thing is, we don't know. Neither one is talking, which to me speaks volumes about integrity. Perhaps they've put the past behind them, where it belongs.
