I am not a fan of any person who drinks on a daily basis. I have had 2 prior relationships that ended badly because of their drinking. My exhusband would blow his entire paycheck before I could pay bills by getting his check, cashing it, then going straight to the bars or out with his buddies without even coming home first. I eventually got the courage to say FU I'm done, and divorced him.

I then met this guy, he was a decent guy at first, he drank daily, but no more then a 6pk a day. I started drinking with him, and before I knew it we were drinking an 18-24pk a night, and didn't have the money to pay the bills. The first time he got so drunk that he beat the **** out of me during one of his war flashbacks, I was gone.

Since those two occurances, I rarely drink, if I do, 1-2 beers is my limit, and I have found a guy who maybe has 2-4 beers in 1-2 months. It is good on both of us, we are able to have fun and communicate without any alcohol in our systems.

I'm no expert, and I can't say if you have a problem or not. I'm not going to judge you on anything thats been said, I just wanted to let you know my reasoning behind why I will not date a man who drinks more then once a week! Hope this helps.

I like to drink ALMOST every day. The way I look at it is this: I work my a$$ off everyday doing something that I really don't care to do - so I can get a paycheck and pay my bills....when I get home, I like to drink and enjoy myself - what's wrong with that?

So can you enjoy yourself without the crutch you lean on called alcohol?

If so, then no biggy....

If not... then stop being so bloody lazy, get off your arse, do the work, and learn how to live without a mask of alcohol...

( and yep I'm an aussie, and no, I won't play nice, but I will play straight..and you asked for opinions...dime a dozen and like arseholes everyone has one)

what else is there to do that I would have the energy for after working all day?

Oh really? And you believe that guff?

FFS!!!

Hey, drink your way to an unlived life, it's your choice, why not go hang outside a bar and pick up a drinker...? At least then you and she will have something in common.

Then go to a different one... There is no person on the planet that doesn't have issues.... and if there is one, that is their issue...they are the only one.

I dunno..you tell me....spock

by the way, alcoholism is the most under-diagnosed problem there is..therapists rarely are able to spot it, usually because their clients fail to let them know about their drinking habits.....

Join a gym, lose weight, get fit, learn some self respect... volunteer to help those less fortunate...

See? You don't want to do the work... you want someone else to do it, or to blame... you are tired after work because you eat crap food, drink too much, and don't respect your body nor your self.

It's not a bloody problem, disease, terminal illness...it is a choice, a bad choice in most cases. Can you picture a hospital line as a person sits there needing care for cancer, suddenly an alcoholic barges through the door and the doctor drops everything and tells the cancer patient "sorry, but this man here is suffering from a terrible disease."?

I was referring to alcoholism as a mental health issue, the fact that it has physical ramifications is of no concern to me...the alcoholic who shows up at the ER needs to wait his/her turn with all the other desperately sick peoople...

Just change your wifebeater at least every other day and you'll be set. ;) J/K dude. You just need to find a woman who wants to drink too, or has no problem with that. I guess as long as youre not a violent or sloppy drunk you should be good to go.

Drink will do that to you. Look, women like attention, someone sitting on his ass all day drinking some beers is not their idea of attention. You wanna play the game, learn the rules!

If you wonder if alcohol is an issue in your life, there are many reputable sites that can help you decide.

If you are honest with yourself in answering questions, then you will get an honest assessment. If you are not honest, then you will not get an honest assessment.

If you drink everyday when you get home from work, whether you get "buzzed" or not really does not matter...

just drinking everyday will cause changes in the receptors in your brain and not only will you be psychologically dependent, you will be physiologically dependent as well.

look up "CAGE" assessment and see what you get...then go to WebMD and search for a self assessment with alcohol..

going to work everyday and not getting loaded does NOT mean you do not have issues with alcohol...

oh, and if a counselor told you they could not help you, perhaps it is because you are not ready to help yourself.

there have been many times when people are just not "ready" to be honest about the role alcohol has in their life and until they are...no one can help them...

If you're drinking every day and asking here if it's OK..and your woman just dumped you because of it, I dont think you need an answer. You already know it. You looking for someone to agree with you...sympathize?

Im sure she didnt dump you because of alcohol..but rather what your behavior is when youre drinking, the expense..or something similar. I used to drink a LOT. It made me THINK I was happy. I quit totally for over 20 years. Now I can go and have ONE beer and no more.

But hey, I've been single 4 years..so maybe so maybe some drink would help me in lowering my standards. It helps. lol
