This is a funny thread, I love it when Foreign people tell us who to vote for...

McCain/Palin 08

I know right? Or better yet people who admittedly don't vote then b*tch about it...whoa

I am not b****ing , and I know the comment was not directed at me, but I am still very young and just do not know who to vote for.
I agree with both parties on Different issues.
I am affraid if we vote Oboma in he will be killed within his first year, but McCain is so much like Bush.

I totally agree with your statement though Lily.
If you do not Vote or live here then WHY COMPLAIN???

I don't believe I said SHE has to be home with her children. I think I made it gender nuetral and said a Parents first obligation is to parent first and that she had spread herself incredibly thin. If this candidate was a male with a pregnant child I would be saying the same thing. It is virtually impossible for a candidate to be a significant parent figure of minor children and campaigne for presidency from everything I have read about candidates children. I would find this especially true in the years that adolecents need both parents fully committed to parenting. Which I think the behavior of the Bush daughters made painfully clear. It is fortuneate in deed that both young ladies survived their very out of control behavior. What I find particularly remarkable is that Chelse Clinton seems to be a normal and centered as she was and is. As a parent of a profoundly handicapped child I can not fathom how a parent of five could do and adequate job from the campagine trail or for that matter any highly demanding job. I beleive it is beneficial for children to have two working parents don't ever mstake my beliefs in that arena I just think that the 24/7 nature of that level of public office is not compatiable with parenting.

okay, well obama has young children also. and mccain has kids.

not to mention all of hollywood and their children. public limelight.

When someone bcomes a parent I believe that becomes their first job above all other allegiances. That Palin is a mother of five, one child with a severe disability and another child pregnant I think it is spreading herself incredibly thin even with a supportive husband to try to govern a state much less the entire country and in some references the world because what we do as a country definitely reflects on the whole world. What I find incredibly selfish on Govenor Palin's part is that she would subject two pregnant teens, and their siblings not to mention both infants, to the kind of firestorm of media her candidacy would create during what I would consider a health crisis. Teenage pregnancy is difficult enough to cope with without every fanatic in the world feeling it is open season. To me it shows and incredible lack of forthought or loyalty to her family to put such blind ambition out there for her career over their needs. If she is such a desireable candidate she could have easily waited another four years and ran when her family had gotten over this drama. While I don't pretend to believe that parents can monitor their teenagers moves so closely as to prevent sexual activity I do think she could have been monitored enough to perhaps prevented this pregnancy with birth control had she been paying attention enough to have assumed she might be sexually active. Maybe if she would have been looking into her own windows rather than her brother in laws she would not be pending charges or copeing with and unwed daughter. Considering the Govenor's family had secret service protection it unfathonable to me that she did not know this was going on and made some kind of pre-emptive supervison. After all these teens are minors. I think she was just too busy politicing. If McCain thinks that he can wrap up his M-16's in baby blankets he is mistaken. You can bet this won't be one teenage father signing up for BDU prenatal coverage like so many young American's who can't find work or affordable houseing but then maybe the tabloids or the lobbyists will pay for this child instead of the taxpayers. I am not counting on it.

incubating a life, a living fetus, is not a health crisis.

are you daft?

or AGAINST THE SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE as though it is a mere antiquated notion of the same poor idiots that osama nobama says cling to God and guns as he has characterized half of this great country's people when he was speaking to the lunantic fringe in San Francisco while trying to earn points with comrade nanny peloshki? (dem SF) chair of the Senate...hhmmm.......

these thoughtless comments reveal that babies are no better than a disease the way you put it.

Hers is recognizeable to me.

yours is abhorrent and tasteless and cruel.

I am not sure why thinking a teenager being pregnant is not a health crisis when so many times it in fact works out to be just that. Carrying a baby to term is a significant stessor on a fully mature healthy woman in an optimum environment. Infant mortality and the number of young women who die in child birth in this country certainly would lead most people to think that both parents focus be on a child who is also pregnant would not be too much to ask. I am not sure where you are drawing the conclusion that I would expect anything but supporting this pregnancy with every resource available comes from but I do think the catestrophic costs alone of teen pregnancy would be enough for taxpayers to want parent to prevent their children from having children by providing them adequate preventive bithcontrol. I have not and would not suggest any baby regardless of it's condition be deprived anything but the best medical care available.

Actually I follow your thinking there and would like candidates to be parents if at all possible but if the situation is a special circumstance like a child being pregnant or having other catestrophic needs or maybe just still being a minor I go to the first in time first in line concept. You loose certain priveleges when you become a parent and have to set aside or delay some of your plans in the best interest of the family in my humble opinion. I am not faulting Palin for her daughter's choices what I am faulting her for is expecting a teenager to always make good choices and not at least adapting her goals to address the situation that was presented. Please Excuse the double post.

That is quite possibly the most unAmerican thing I've ever heard anyone say...

Who's on the commitee to decide who can and cannot be a presidential candidate?

After someone's child has their child can they at that point go back in the hopper to become a presidential candidate again? or are they permanently blackballed?

What if her daughter miscarried could she then go back as the vice-presidential candidate and would the person who replaced her be booted?

Again to restate, I don't like ANY of the candidates, but to say she can't run or even that she couldn't run goes against EVERYTHING this country was founded on, and there is enough bullsh*t this country does that taking someone's rights away because of what her almost legal adult daughter chose to do is down right ignorant.

by that reasoning, abstinance is more appropriate, not abortion.

Which is emblematic of the different views in this country regarding teen pregnancies, or unwanted pregnancies occuring from consentual sexual activity.

There is no moral equivalence possible in these two divergent perspectives.

Either human life is sacred or it is not.

Whether or not any can completely agree with the point at which a life is viably present is at the core of the differences regarding attitude and behavior of those so found procreating.

let's face it....

short term sexual pleasures have consequences, but those consequences cannot be considered a hwealth risk when the consequences of such leasures are naturally intent upon bearing fruit.

But wishful thinking chooses to ignore the facts.

abstinance is the only guaranteed and healthy form of birth control.

But a pregnancy brings about new life and to those that view life as precious and beyond being ssnuffed out by another, then the choice made bears the consequence.

A child born is a child celebrated.

A child denied is a child mourned.

there is always provision for a child in this world.

I embrace children as a gift not a liability.

Or the children could never be viewed as assets in balance.

You are not a liability, nor am I.

Politically, the rich are considered a liability to the poor that are neglected by the rich.

Politically, the poor are a liability to the rich when the poor dictate to the rich how the needs of the poor are to be met by the rich.

Rich and poor alike are liabilities in that regard.

rich and poor are assets in any regard when life is celebrated by all.

perhaps it is the mindset of who constitutes a liability and who constitutes an asset that is the better attitude in endeavoring to judge societal responsibilities, eh?
