and while yes were all human. humans are different and seperate. the islam extremists have hated us for years, ever since the crusades theyve hated us all. what bush did was evil, but what they do daily is more heinous than anyhting him and cheney do combined.

Im no historian, but I dont think USA was around during the crusades...the problems of the middle east started long ago..and you would do well to really educate your self about US foreign interests in the middle east before you start talking about who hates who...

The nationalist not only does not disapprove of atrocities committed by his own side, he has a remarkable capacity for not even hearing about them.
George Orwell

Americans know what he meant. We understand that our roots are mostly in Europe. They hate us because we are mainly a country of Christian European immigrants. We will all try to be inclusive of the fact that redundancy is not allowed due to the fact that we have a lone Argentinian on the boards and will try to be all-inclusive. yawn

Aren't you in Argentina? Why don't you start a thread pertaining to your own government's leaders? We would all be happy to join in the discussion. flowers

sure, we can talk about the murderous dictators put in place here by the CIA...oh, wait, but that would be talking about YOUR country again, wouldnt it???

No, that would be your opinion. But go for it. Start the thread and ignore the crickets chirping in the background.

Yes, the social aspect of Iraq under Saddam was very westernized. However, you have to realize that it was either deal with it or the members of your mosque are taken away at night and murdered. What many people fail to realize is that our country is still looked at as the police of the world. When have you ever seen the UN take action? The so-called peace-keepers are a joke. The EU and most of the world look to NATO to actually take care of business. Just look at Bosnia in the 90's, The rest of Europe sat back and let the war get out of control. Then called on US to quell the violence. Believe it or not, our forces have to do the dirty work of the rest of the world because no one will stand up for what is right. And to reply to symbelmyne's post about our interests in the middle east, OIL. Yes, oil, the product that runs the global economy. Without oil our world stops running, and to let the fate of the global economy be decided by a bunch of fanatics with no respect for the lives of themselves or others is just absolutely insane. To finish my reply, if you want to call GWB a war criminal then you must also try our congress and the american people. We put everyone in office, therefore it is our fault that this has happened. Many continue to fail to realize that our senators and congressmen/women do not do their job. They gain office with the hopes of actually accomplishing something and are blinded by greed. They pass legislation that will benefit themselves and nothing more. I am going to end my post before it gets way too long.

granted, but in my context i emant, the crusades were done by the europeans, which were what initially made the 13 colonies, and as such were seen as a multi cultured, but still mainly "european" country. you cant ignore oyur roots. ;)

Im not going to give you a history lesson, theres plenty of info on the net and even a few movies have been made about the crusades that are not only educational but entertaining as well...."those people" the million plus that have lost their lives because of the United States invading their country are not animals, they are victims, because a wave of religious fanaticism by a minority of zealots, has taken the place of rational thought...not all that different from whats happening in the US...

your a young guy, but not too dense for one your age, lol. jopking brother. u make some good points but our intrest in the region wasnt purely oil. everyone thinks it is, but it wasnt. iraq doesnt put out much oil. kuwait one of our allies puts out more and gives us deals on it since the gulf war. the deal with iraq, was nutcases in charge, nut cases all over. the living conditions were deplorable and only now are getting better. if you think kids being able ot go to school, and vote, and express opinions is bad lemme know on here. i talked to an iraqi soldier one day and he came up crying and said thank you to us. his father was killed by saddam, the guy was a furniture maker for gods sake, and all the guy did was utter something in public against saddam for killing the kurds in droves. so i tell you what, when america drags you in the street and shoots you then buries you in a mass grave in your own country then complain about how we act. til then be glad someone is watching out for the world.

I'm no historian either, but I think you completely missed the point of what he wrote. I got that he was simply pointing out that there are a lot of different views/religions/opinions/governments/ways of life in the world. And there happen to be a huge number of Muslim extremists (especially mujahadin) that are intolerant of everything else to the point that they *truly* hate 'us'. As opposed to the average person in the western world that doesn't really hold any specific personal hatred of other people to nearly the same degree.

That's not saying all Muslims hate the world - but the extremist movement is a strong one (that has actually existed *prior* to the Crusades by the way).

yes they existed prior to it. but saldin la saracen didnt use the word jihad as a term for war til the crusades. before that it merely meant " struggle with the sword" as is its literla translation now. but very few accpet this jihad as it is meant. let alone use the other 2 forms of jihad.

Idont agree with much of what you say here the facts dont agree with you. Iraq was a fine westernized country untill at our behest attaacked iran when saddam started doing our dirty work it was the begining of the end.

my country is a democracy...we just elected our first female president...one person one vote, she won the same way Bush did, by lying, cheating and paying for votes (with 800,000 dollars provided by the Bush administration for her "campaign")..you probably didnt hear about that one on FAUX News...but see how "westernized" we are?? Quite progressive dont you think?
You really should educate yourself about US foreign policy..thats not an insult, its a suggestion....

Well I understand it's not just about oil, oil is just at the root of everything. Look at Iran, they have had very long and drawn out wars with Iraq. Now if they attack Iraq, we have a reason to depose that nut job ahmadinejad. What the so-called intelligent symbelmyne does not understand is that we americans do not care about her and her very very very corrupt government down there. Our government is kind of like me and my brothers up here in new york, we basically say eff you and there is nobody that will do anything about it. Yes civilians die, it's something that happens in war. However, these people are what allow this to go on. Yes, it is only a minority of zealots over there but that minority has put the fear of god into those people and they continue to do nothing about it. I know she likes to quote george orwell, but I have a quote.

"The only thing necessary for evil to prevail, is for good men to do nothing. -Edmund Burke

For as long as these people don't stand up for themselves and their human rights, they will be murdered, and not by US forces but by the people killing themselves to get to their virgins. These so called martyrs are nothing but cowards, brainwashed by even bigger cowards to do the dirty work for these extremist pigs. I live in the greatest country in the world and I am proud of that fact. Proud that I have people willing to risk their life so I can freely express my views and opinions.
