Hmmm. Its apparent someone is having a temper tantrum here and running a muck. Well whenever you feel like sobering up and actually writing in a cohesive manner, let us know. By the way, my post still stands if you feel like responding. I dont think a bunch of crude insults will qualify as rebuttal.

Or you can go ahead and delete your last post to take my response out of context like you did on the Sodom and Gomorrah thread laugh

As does mine. Have you finishd the N.T. yet?
You could at least read that. The O.T. isn't going to give you the perspective you are missing on Christianity anyway, so the task is not an insurmountable one.

Found purgatory in the scriptures yet?

You have not responded thus far that I can see except a bunch of whining and gibbering like a parakeet. You have not written anything new that I can possibly respond to. What about you? Have you looked up the Cro-Magnon man yet? I dont see why I would not be allowed to use the term "purgatory"? That makes no sense. Are you now attempting to assert that your own interpretation of hell is somehow more viable and authentic than that of the Catholic Church? Let me fill you in on a little statistic sir if I may. Approximately 1 billion people are Catholic, at least through baptism even if they neglect its practice. This means 1 out of every 6 people on earth is a Catholic.

And within that roll call of "a billion Catholics" you will find my name there. You can discuss "purgatory" all you want. What you cannot do - is claim it as a Christian tennet, until you find it described in the bible. Which - by the way, you won't.

I can make this promise to you - I will not comment on Cro-magnon man until I do read about it. Right now - it is not on the top of my list of things to do.

You are dead right there. You are no longer having a positive nor constructive influence on this discussion Eljay but instead insulting people and their beliefs. Please refrain from that behavior. She in no way was attempting to argue with you and even said that to you in the first line of her response. Cant she simply speak her mind? Many of us have found her comments very helpful and expressive.

She spoke her mind - and I asked her to explain what she wrote. Please - demonstrate for all who post how this is an example of my exerting the influence of my beliefs on her. If her explination is satisfying - my belief will be hers.

Apparently she is being influenced on speaking her mind by your stepping in and speaking for her.
Are you going to practice what you preach - or can I continue to see if a response to my question is forthcoming?

No doubt. I don't foresee any attempt being made here on your part to improve your understanding of the world around you through academic discipline nor endeavor. You still have not answered why I can not use the term "purgatory" as it relates to hell. You are simply diverting the issue again as you often do when you are stumped or you begin an argument. Not that it is relevant in this discussion but I never claimed it as a "Christian tenet". I used it to describe hell in my OWN post which I am entitled to do. Shall I call a priest up on the phone to referee this debate henceforth? Stop behaving in such a childish manner.

HMMM??

seem's to me what we have here is a failure to communicate.

i don't see it stated anywhere that you "can't use" the word or concept of "purgatory, krimsa. from what I've read, unless I've missed something, eljay has made the statement that it is not of biblical exsistence - meaning neither the concept of purgatory or the word is found within the bible/book, in roman catholicism, purgatory is is a place where those who die with venial sins not repented of go till through prayer and the like are eventually allowed to leave there and enter heaven - or at least as an ex CAT. that was my understanding of why we prayed for loved ones or friends etc and lit candles and fed the coin box.

i think all eljays getting at is that this is nothing more than religious dogma of the church, it is not something that exist within the words of the book. In fact this very dogma is what lead Luther to post his thesis on the pope's door.

The closest thing we see to this purgatory in the NT is Christ story of the rich man and lazarus and the thief on the cross when Jesus' says " today you shall be with me in paradise" but paradise was referring to "Sheol" not to purgatory, Sheol or at least a section of it was where those who had died in the old testament who had lived their life in having faith in god, went until Christ freed them at his ressurection. this is not the same as the CATH's teaching or selling indulgences which could then be used to petition god to release people from The Cath's made up purgatory.

The point is, I am entitled to use the term "purgatory" in my own post to describe hell. Not only did I refer to it as purgatory, I also described it as hell. Do I now need to spell it out for him via interpretive dance also?? He can pick and choose whichever term he finds suitable. He has STILL offered no cohesive argument nor rebuttal to my last post. Thats all on him at this point. Every time he can not answer a question, he throws tantrums Tribo. If it is such a problem now, he can simply take the word "purgatory": out of my post and replace it with "banana" or "hell" or whatever he would like. Just get to it already and answer the dam question.

Eljay,

Apparently, no matter how anyone who posts in this forum, how many times someone says this is how they believe and they alone, it seems you take something someone posts, place against some other line they post and make it into another whole statement they did NOT post. If I thought you were only doing this to me, maybe I would try to have more patience to explain over and over, as if I were talking to my 5 yr old grandson, about what MY belief is. Nothing I ever posted was to anything YOU posted until you pulled one of my statements out and twisted it.

Maybe if I type in very very small sentences then maybe you will understand what I have typed and will not turn it around to say something else. So I'll leave you with three words. And no matter how you twist it, rephrase it, you can place it backwards or even upside down if you want...it will still remain.

Read these three words one at a time and take all the time you need to comprehend them.

GOD IS LOVE...oh wait let me do this FOR you. Let me turn those words around for you.

LOVE IS GOD..is that better? But maybe for you I should pose it as a question and ask...

IS LOVE GOD? wait..let me turn that around...so you'll have another question using still 3 words.

Is GOD LOVE?

Projection is when we
accuse others, of what is actually going on within our own soul.

Krimsa....Eljay has been more than patient and kind....he does NOT have to "get to it" and answer any demands.
But he has done so up to now anyway.... simply because he is a caring and decent soul..and a gentleman....... and does Not allow attacks towards him to bother him, simply because he is a bigger person than that.

I hope you realize the jewel of a man that he truly is, and I hope you realize that he truly cares about you Krimsa....otherwise he would not even bother.

So please..... consider being more respectful when addressing him from now on.

Spoken in Love....

Eljay has Never twisted anything.
I read his posts, and other posts on this forum very very carefully.

I am sorry if it might have appeared that he was doing
that.....
I know Eljay as my Brother and Friend in Christ ,
and I can assure you...
he is one of the most genuine and respectful and kindest people you will ever meet....

let's just not grow up!

I said it before, but this time I mean it. I'll not post in this one again. I gave..somewhere back in those pages..my reason for posting in the first place. There's too much ..and for those who read this...IN MY HUMBLE OPINION...too many words that seems as if it's meant to actually cause hurt to others simply because one person does not believe as another. What happened to freedom of religion? Anyway...to those who I've become friends with..I don't care what your beliefs are or are not...I care about YOU. For those I don't know, the opportunity is always open....for those who've judged me and have no desire, It really does not matter to me one way or the other.

What good would calling a priest do? Half of the one's Ive talked to haven't read the bible either. What makes you think Catholics are "christians" anyway? When you refered to "purgatory" - you didn't qualify your statement by refering to Catholics - you referenced "christians." Anyway... the term "purgatory" is not a christian tennet - it is a Catholic one. Unless you are refering to some other idea of Purgatory.

Now - don't assume by this statement that I do not think Catholics can be christians - I'm asking YOU how you can be sure they are, since you are implying it. But you can determine that question to be rhetoric if you wish.

Okay - that being said - if we're going by your understanding of Purgatory, then that would tend to change things. But having spent the first third of my life as a Catholic, I don't expect when someone brings the word up that they're redefining it.

Eljay, it is painfully obvious to me that you are very angry and upset with me over that Neanderthal thread. Otherwise if there was any misunderstanding about whether or not I meant "purgatory" or "hell" you would have politely asked me to clarify which I was referring to. But no, you are being very hostile and rude about it. You know darn well I meant hell. I used the term "hell" several times and then I was concerned that I was over using it so I decided to use another descriptive term. So I chose to use purgatory. If I was a practicing Catholic, then purgatory might be a very real concept to me. Actually you would have no way of knowing as I have never revealed what my religious or spiritual background is on this forum. I have never really seen the point as it can not and will not have any effect on my ability to debate these concepts.

Anyway, I dont really care. Do what you want here. Answer or not. Im tired of this constant arguing with you.
