please explain how the posting of a picture ensures safety or deters scammers?

Rapunzel's photo
Thu 08/28/08 10:15 AM

fran..have fun wit that...

thats the problem you cant..like someone said u can pluck any pic off any website.there needs to be some back-groundcheck or somethinglaugh

yes...there should be something else...

i'd be willing to go back through registration...

some stricter initial process to clear me....

knowing that everyone else

will have to jump through those same hoops

OP while what you are suggesting/asking makes sense, keep in mind that will not fight off any scammers at all. May make it harder for some to get thru for a while, but in the end, once a scammer has their mindset on doing something nothing will hinder it. Not even a registration process nor fees.

People have a tendency of picking on the meek, that will not change, with making picture posting mandatory, registration process or fees. jmo

I'm gonna be blunt. I took my picture offline because I got an email from a guy saying he was masterbating to it.sick The idea of anyone haveing access to my image & me not having control over what they are using it for is upsetting.

I have seen that many of the rudest, most hateful & biggotted people here have photos up that may or may not be them , who knows for sure?

I never try to mislead people about my appearance or identity. I keep saying I am an old, fat, ugly cat lady. I have a lot of fun with the "hen" & if anyone asks me for naked pictures now, I love it!laugh laugh laugh

this site is for adults 18 plus.... as adults you are supposed to know what to do yourself to keep yourself safe.... gimme a break you want jsh to do background searches on everyone? why should they pay for that? do your own background searches...jsh is not here to babysit you. people even falsify information too so what good would that do when they run someone elses name? or social security from someone who did identy theft? if they are a creep they and want to be on here that is all they would do anyway....noway

can you tell I am so against posting pics waving
and why should not matter? it's a personal choice, like those that do post pics chose to do so.

If what I look like dictates whether we can be friends, then the way I see it, pass me right on by please, not my loss waving

yes. i understand the points you are making here...
and they are all valid...

I'm just trying to find detourants...
.so the scammers don't just flood the front gates....

i don't know,
maybe this isn't exactly the same thing,

but kind of an analogy....

I ride a bike in the city....
a lot of bikes get stolen here ...

Mine isn't the most expensive,
but it isn't the cheapest either...

now, i know that if someone
wants something bad enough
he'll do what he can to get that thing...

i also know
that if you put up more of an opposition...

the perpetrator will go elsewhere
and try for an easier situation...

so, if a person wants to steal a bike...

he will more than likely drinker
pass up on mine...laugh

with three Kryptonite locks
and Master Locks on it drinker bigsmile drinker

and with the seat gone...laugh laugh laugh

it makes it less comfortable,
less desireable
and much more of a challenge

and all those locks and the lack of a seat
will bring more attention on the person
trying to steal it ...laugh

of course , we have to practice common sense drinker

but if we put up a greater wall of defense smokin

maybe they will give up happy

and go elsewhere drinker

& there won't be such an influx

of predators here ...

I can understand the reasons that some want everyone to have pictures of themselves. But...I can also see the reasons for some that choose not to post pictures.

In reality I can grab pictures off any dating site I want to and several of the same person and pass it off as myself.

So I don't see how posting pictures will point out who is fake and who is not.

As far as scammers they pretty much have a certain way of doing things and if one keeps their eyes open they will finally catch these people.

But regardless if you talk to someone a year or 3 months even then at times you will never know for sure who they are unless you actually become very close to them. And then all you will know is what they choose to tell you and no more.

Yeah it is nice to see whom your talking to and all. But in reality you could get on a paid site and still get the run around believe me I do know that for a fact yep happened but I got him back so all was fair game in the end.

One just always be on the look out and report anyone that is using a picture that is a guarantee it is not them and report the scammers.

It is always up to the you to keep yourself safe. Do everything that you know in order not to be a victim. Even then there is no guarantee you will not be sucked into someone elses game.bigsmile

roflOP scroll up I researched Eharmony roflthere they charge you a membership fee yet you never truly know whether you will be accepted. over 8 million rejected after their fees were paid rofl

Here's a deterrent for you (kryptonite/master locks)
if you get a bad feeling/vibe; follow your gutt.

if you feel someone is being untrue, chances are they did

if you feel unsafe, leave, stay clear

Be responsible for your choices, dont rely on the owners of any site to be responsible for you.
