I've been a member of this site
for two years .. in that entire time... i have had only one profile and have represented myself honestly ... and i have met some wonderful people in that time... although i have come across some very vicious nasty scammers, stalkers & human predators, too and i have found that oftentimes the scam and attacks come from those people who have no photos in their profile... this is a serious issue... I think that if the Owners & Administrators of this site really care about the safety of their good members here, who make this site the < mostly > pleasant place that it is... they need to be much stricter with who they allow to come in here and have a profile... I think that it should be an absolute prerequisite that everyone has photos of themselves included in their profile and not just nature scenes or pictures of celebrities ... and also there should be other requirements in order to be a member ... We are putting ourselves out there to meet other good people and there should be more of a safety net ... and yes, i know this is the world wide web... but, still, i think that there are very wise & practical precautions that can be taken to insure better protection for the members of any given site ... |

Disagree. A photo proves nothing, you could google all the pictures you need if you dont wanna put up pics of yourself.
The only way to proove online that someone is 'real' is to see them on webcam. But then they still might be lying about who they really are. |

But then they still might be lying about who they really are. well, that's true... but still there has got to be something else that can be done.... i've seen a lot more scrutiny from the owners of other sites in regards to who comes on board, with protection to their members why not this one ? |

I agree whole heartedly...at least one real pic...this should be the #1 rule. I do not feel safe speaking with people that I cannot see..I have told a few friends but...on another site 2 years ago...a man approached me wanting to talk..he had a pic and his eyes look very, very mean and I blocked him...2 months later he was listed as captured on America's Most Wanted... a girl that had decided to speak with him on the site recognized him and turned him in for a double homocide on an elderly couple....the eyes have it....and although the pics may not be them...another concern...at least you have some sense of safety

This brings up a question I have. There are some people who don't want their photos up or don't want their faces on here. So, when you talk to them they offer to send you a pic to your email. Do you give them your email address to send it? I'm not aware of anything that could happen if they have your email. I mean I get spam all day long, so what would be the harm in giving out your personal email?

Its a free site, there will always be an element of fakes and scam artists. I say its up to the individual to protect themselves, i dont really see what viable options have to get rid of this element.

It WOULD be the responsibility of the site owners/operators to police the site for undesireables and provide safety for the members. I feel the mods do an outstanding job as it is, but....it is ulitimately our own responsibility here on Mingle2 to be smart and safe in our interactions with other members. |

I agree pictures are important

I have to agree too. I meet people in person who are'nt who they say. Ever buy a car LOL.

disagree, pictures dont make the person and can be misleading.
Take precautions and dont rely on others to instill or regulate a free site when relying on good old common sense is my safety net. Pictures will not ensure anyone of anything |

I agree pictures are important <<<<< Hi there my brother Scott >>>> Thank you ... and i don't mean to be unappreciative or disrespectful in any way.... i am thankful for this free site and i do believe that the owners and administrators & the moderators are working hard to improve the quality of the site & maintain a high standard i just wish that photos are a prerequisite and think that there has GOT to be some way to actually prove that the photo is in fact of the person who has that profile |

free shouldnt mean unsafe or a rampage of scammers running around.this is a goos site, minus the scammers and the pond scum, and yeah if youre going to interact with people u HAVE at least HAVE ONE REAL PICTURE. So how is the site supposed to determine that a picture is real? |
