HMM?? well it looks like a few things here -

1)- its not something to be taken by some to be true or literal.

2)- nobody really has the answers because they don't know, which probably really is the case.

3)- new post are only a platform for people at odds with each other to hurl garbage back and forth at each other because they have nothing new to offer of their own or no desire to?

oh well - it really does not matter, to me their remain more than enough inconsistency's in the book that i really don't care to discuss it further, those who believe-believe. Those who don't-won't - end of story.

I have the answer. It makes sense to me. If for the rest doesn't make sense. well for me it's the same as flying pigs.

TLW WRote:
the story of the ARK has one and just one purpose which is to give preview of what the baptism by water will become to be at some point after my Lord Jesus Christ established His Church.
What does baptism do? Clean the original sin of the baptized through water. In the same manner as the imagery of the flood was intended to clean the sin of the world.

I had a Lutheran Pastor teach this same idea many years ago. I think that's a lovely way to think about this story. It's personal and it does not get wrapped up in the science of man or beg to be argued over.

It is simply something that fits into the scheme of a persons belief and anyone questioning or trying to learn about a religion would not feel pushed in any direction by this information.

Nicely said Miguel.

abra says,

"Better safe than sorry", they say.

But any faith based on that principle is empty faith.

so, why do you bother, abra?

one must eat and live and do what one teaches and preaches.

as you wish.

that middle ground of yours in all of its charming ambiguity will not remove that which you teach from being your reward.

behold yourself in a mirror

you make absolutely no sense at all.

think slaphead

Yeah...it's like the so called "independants" who no one really knows what they are really about...except THEM.

They are double minded & therefore have trouble agreeing with anything that is good.

Go figure???? ...or is it

...figures don't lie but liars figure??? LOL

They also say...you can't make this stuff up.... but Oh YES they can. LOL

Lonleywalker,

I can have the most ridiculous dream at night and upon remembering it, I realize that while in the dream everything made perfect sense to me, even the most absurd things.

How can that be? Do we not reason in our dreams? Or do we accept input as fact naturally. This reality makes perfect sense to us. What we believe, no matter how ridiculous it is, makes perfect sense to us.

Is our reasoning capability a product of our reality? Do we really see reality as it is or how we think it is?

What if when we "wake up" from this ridiculous dream we look back and realize how absurd everything really was.

What if everything you know to be true is a lie?

What if everything you hear on television is a Lie?

Donnar:

Keep seeking Tribo and you will find. I believe in Noah's Ark as actually happening. If you want to know more check out why seashells are found all over the world. In the mid west of the USA and all over the world. I don't worship the Bible, I worship God. Moses is credited to have written the 1st 5 books of the Bible as inspired by God. I believe. Faith can move mountains.

**Abra..I hope, for your sake that you are right, because whoa to you if you are wrong. I'd rather believe in my faith and be right, than not believe and be wrong.

laugh

Donnar,

Okay, so your belief is basically an insurance policy with God. You would rather believe and be right than not believe and be wrong.

Is believing in something out of fear of the pit of fire really true faith or is it just an insurance policy? Remember, saying that you believe does not count. You have to truly believe right? Do you truly believe or do you just agree to believe under the threat of the lake of fire or hell?

Did you sell your soul into slavery to an alien God under the threat of death and hell? After all whoa to you if you are wrong and whoa to you if your soul has been promised to an evil false God who lied to you.

Miguel, as for you i have no quarrels

I'm bringing this up for the literalist future fundies to address which are adamant that everything stated in the book has to be taken literally that is meant literally! I see know reason not to take these stories literally as to its words - so therefore i put them forward for discussion.

"IF" they tell me as you have not to take the stories "literally" then my questions will cease, until then those of them that want to uphold there beliefs that they are literal - will have to answer or not - their choice.

one day God said ot me, "my son, patience is your greatest virtue".

To which, I replied, "Lord, I have no patience."

For which, God replied, "Thank you."

To which, God began to teach me patience.

About a year later, I was alarmed to be receiving from my friends commenting profusely on my patience that had become quite noticeable to them, and these comments were beginning to perplex me for their very abundance each day.

And then I happened to share this with a fellow carpenter, also a Christian and an ordained minister when he too made a similar comment to me and said that he wished he had as much himself.

To which, I told him of my converdsation with God those meany years past, long before this man and I had ever met.

To which, this man replied, "Gideon"

And I said, "what about Gideon?"

and he said again, "Gideon, O mighty Valiant and brave warrior", said the Lord to Gideon. To which Gideon responded, " Who? me? you are mistaken."

For which, the Lord made Gideon such as the Lord spoke upon Gideon, from that point on.

Now then, I hadn't looked at that story as representative of something that was between the Lord and myself in my heart and between no other than the Lord and myself.

But had my friend, and now me, taken all things in the Old Testament as merely literal, even though what is literal in the story of Gideon remsains to judged as literal by any, then I doubt that I would appreciate the similitude of the Lord as I know him to be in my heart.

I found that moment more precious that the patience given me as a gift from God, himself.

The reason being, I am much more thankful and grateful for knowing the Lord, than for receiving gifts from the Lord, and delighted to be comforted in that He never changes his ways..

faith comes by hearing, and hearing comes from God.

faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not yet seen.

The Word of God ...is a discerner of the thoughts and the intents in the heart.

If it is not received by faith, it is sin.

some things just are............like these passages salted among others in the Holy Bible.

They are given life when God breathes their meaning into our lives.

But the breath of God does not wait for our understanding of these things, he gives that understanding through breathing the understanding and knowledge of the truth of these things into our spirits and souls as no other can do.

Should God change, these things would not remain intruth the things that are as mere ecchoes of times past when the same God made promises to keep and be made manifest to future generations as though it were all today and not passed from view in any given moment in time as God sees fit, not man.

i know you "believe" god is talking to you just like most of you do - but until i hear his voice in "reality" and not just in a head aspect, and see him in person, not just in words of a book - he means nor ever will mean anything to me. But I will let you believe as you wish just as the others.

The length and beam of Noah's ark compares with that of a 14000 ton Tanker.

The ark resembled a huge barge.
It was built just to float - it had no sails, oars, propellors or rudder.
It consisted of 3 decks and a 0.5 metre ventilation gap just below the roof, running it's full length.

It would have been the largest sea-going vessel ever built until the late nineteenth century when giant metal ships were first constructed.

Its length to width ratio of six to one provided excellent stability on the high seas. In fact, modern shipbuilders say it would have been almost impossible to turn over. In every way, it was admirably suited for riding out the tremendous storms in the year of the flood.

The total available floor space on the ark would have been over 100,000 square feet, which would be more floor space than in 20 standard-sized basketball courts.

Assuming an 18-inch cubit [45.72 centimeters], Noah's Ark would have had a cubic volume equal to 569 modern railroad stock cars.

Now comes the question, how many land dwelling air breathing animals would have had to be taken aboard the ark to survive the flood?

John Woodmorappe credibly demonstrates that as few as 2,000 animals may have been required on the ark. To pad this number for error, he continues his study by showing that the ark could easily accommodate 16,000 animals.)

But, let's be generous and add on a reasonable number to include extinct animals. Then add on some more to satisfy even the most skeptical. Let's assume 50,000 animals, far more animals than required, were on board the ark, and these need not have been the largest or even adult specimens.

There is an awful lot of questions to be garnered from that little lot. (Which is a google-led search)

IF it existed then physically the ark could have held that number of animals ....

Who the hell cleaned up after all that lot is beyond me.

I saw a special on this and they concluded that there were 3300 animals on board if the Ark existed.I feel the Bible is more a book of symbolism than actual historic events.

Actually, since you mention it, I am still being holier than thou with humor like this, tribo.

You underestimate your own observation.

either that, or you are inconsistent, and selective in your refusal to face reflections of your own smugness.
