OK, as I type this at 2:02 AM PST it is having just returned home from having seen the movie. It was everything I had hoped but they left something special--more! Oh, **NO SPOILERS** so feel free to read on if you'd like.

First, the movie itself, as a whole, was tremendous. There is not question that it was long. The last half-hour of the film seemed to push the limit of the crowd I shared the theater with but as a movie, it was a fast 2.5 hours.

Of things Ledger. In a word--amazing. He found the part, found the voice, the posture, the laugh and then he became the part. He had not an ounce of empathy for anything or anyone and he really set the standard for film criminals.

It was a bit strange watching the film knowing he never got to see the final release. He left everything on the screen.

The rest of the cast was equally good with a special nod to Gary Oldman for his role.

I'll leave it at this: The movie was excellent. It paced out nicely and gave me every cent of my ticket price. Ledger owned but all of the performances were good (save for one) and I'll let you figure that out on your own.

Go see this movie.

Im not a big batman fan but I went to see The Dark Knight, and I must say. Best movie of the year. Ledger, amazing!!

I saw it, thought it was great. Of course I've always said, when I go psycho, I want to be the Joker. Ledger did an amazing job of that.

I still think Mark Hamill does a better "Joker Laugh" in the animated cartoons.

LOS ANGELES (AFP) — New Batman film "The Dark Knight" soared over the North American box-office with a record-breaking opening weekend, eclipsing the previous all-time mark set by "Spider-Man 3," industry estimates said Sunday.

The film, which features a mesmerizing performance from late Australian actor Heath Ledger as Batman's arch-rival the Joker, took an estimated 155.3 million dollars in ticket sales, Exhibitor Relations said.

That mark shattered the 151.1 million earned by "Spider-Man 3" in May 2007, a record that many pundits believed would not be beaten by "The Dark Knight."

I was told today by a very reliable source that DK is better even than the Tim Burton Batman movies. This has yet to be proven though.

hmmmmmmm....I did'nt think it was all that...sheesszzz... Ironman was better....gimme Val Kilmer or Michael Keaton as Batman anytime.
I did enjoy watching Heath (maybe because I already loved him) honestly though my opinion ,nobody can do the Joker like Jack Nicholson did.

This movie is amazing, and the joker was just perfect, a really evil and crazy bad guy. I think the story was great and it just seemed to keep going without any dull spots in the plot.

Oh yes!!! The Dark Knight was awesome!!! Joker awesome! Tumbler getttin blown n up turns out the Batpod was in it was awesome! Two-Face awesome better then Batman Forevers Two-Face(Tommy Lee Jones)! Yes people died in there oh well! Batman still on the loose! Joker lives!

Well, here are the final numbers for the weekend:

Burbank (CA) - Warner Bros. Pictures’ The Dark Knight set several new box office records during its opening weekend: The latest Batman movie had the biggest opening day, the biggest opening weekend and drove overall Hollywood box office weekend sales of the top 12 titles above a quarter of a billion dollars for the first time.

On Saturday, Warner Bros. head of distribution Dan Fellman reported that The Dark Knight broke the record for a 12:01 a.m. film opening, hauling in $18,489,000 for the first showings alone (the previous record holder Star Wars: Episode III - The Revenge of the Sith brought $16.9 million). That number was later updated to first day earnings of $66.4 million, sailing past the $59.8 million record set by Spider-Man 3 last year.

The record pace continued throughout the weekend with Saturday ticket sales of about $48.0 million and estimated Sunday sales of about $38.9 million resulting in total sales $155.3 million. That number is slightly better than Spider-Man 3’s $151.1 million. An Associated Press article, however, noted that Spider-Man 3 may have sold more tickets than The Dark Night, due to an increase in ticket prices: The average movie ticket price was $6.88 in 2007, translating into about 21.96 million tickets for Spider-Man 3, while 2008 ticket prices are $7.08, which indicates that The Dark Knight ticket sales should be around 21.94 million.

Including $40 million of international box office sales, The Dark Knight sales have already exceeded the movie’s estimated production cost of $185 million.

“We have been thrilled by the response to The Dark Knight, first from the critics and now from audiences. From our earliest screenings, the buzz on the film has been white hot and it hasn’t let up,” Fellman said.

Total U.S. box office sales for the weekend were about $255 million for the top 12 movies, which bests the weekend of July 7, 2006 during which Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest drove box office sales to $218 million.

The Abba musical Mamma Mia! came in second this weekend with sales of $27.6 million, which made the movie the highest grossing musical ever. Hancock was listed third with $14 million, Journey to the Center of the Earth fourth with $11.9 million and Hellboy II: The Golden Army fifth with $10.0 million.

Spoilers: Batman lives, Two-face dies, Joker lives n is put in arkum, batmobile blows up in it batpod, Rachel Dowes dies, Batman says that he killed Dent. Batman tells Gordon to chase him!

And even with those spoilers it is stil one of the best movies in a long time and worth watching on the big screen. It was freaking awsome!

great movie. the best batman movie ever seriously. i thought it was going to be another batman movie but this one surprised me.
