For all those who think they are constantly bashed - let it be known that the APA (American Psychological Association)itself is considering this question and has actually set up a whole field devoted to understanding the role of religion on the mind and body. So at this time they hold rigidly, probably more so than usual, where the diagnosis of the deeply religious is concerned, to the manual.

Obviously is it a concern, and all of those I have spoken with have the same basic opinion. This life is about experiencing everything within our human capacity. Any thinking, or belief that hinders that experience, takes away from the growth of the mind and can vastly harm one's ability to concentrate, to be brave and strong, to think critically and logically and to rise above bias and prejudice.

These things are not an illness, according to APA, but they harm millions upon millions of people in this world every day.

Why is it that your God would ask you to be afraid, not to experience, not to grow, but to be biased, to hate, in his name?

In every post you make this motivation shines through like a lighthouse beam to warn passing ships of danger.

Y'all take one passage, limit it to what meaning you wish to project, twist it to fit into a context that will let your own mind believe that your belief system is superior to Christianity and justify your sins as something they aren't.

The passage that Belushi has posted and refers to is not complete, tells nothing of what the Amalekites did to the Israelis, and takes place at a time shortly after the exodus from Egypt.

A time when God had made a covenant with the Jews specifically and was using them as a teaching between good and evil, those who follow god and those who deny him. If you read the whole bible you will see times when he also punished the Jews for falling from his graces as well.

The bible is not a single passage but a novel of gods teachings. It is full of stories of good, bad, and warnings of people who will try to disclaim it to justify their personal spiritual failings.

Ask and he will forgive. This is part of his covenant made to all men when he sent Jesus Christ to save us!

Wasn't Belusihi a miserable adult who had a terrible childhood and then died of a drug overdose? Is this the same Belushi?

My childhood was filled with love and intelligent discourse that taught me to never stop asking questions to seek knowledge and understanding from logic.

I have never done drugs and I am free of religion ...

and for this I am truly grateful

Christianity is NOT about Religion..but about a Lifestyle!!

Yes...sadly, Christianity has been labelled and turned into a religion by man......but again, Jesus NEVER meant for man to turn Him into a Religion!!!!!!

However..when a man truly becomes born again, he finds out that.... by his believing and accepting Jesus into his heart, he now has a RELATIONSIP with God now.

In other words, a born again christian realizes....that he did not join a religion..he joined JESUS!!!

And THAT is why JESUS is for the whole wide world.
Cause Jesus is NOT about a Religion!!
But a Relationship!!
That is why Christianity is called a Lifestyle!!
Not a Religion!!!

AND.....JESUS is the ONLY way..... one can have a RELATIONSHIP and FELLOWSHIP ...back with the Father.
But this can only happen thru acepting Jesus .

Fellowship and Relationship back with Father God.......this is Something every heart yearns for...wheterh every heart knows this yet or not......and that yearning in every man's heart, can ONLY be FILLED...... by accepting the free gift of grace..the Lord Jesus Christ.

Trying to tell a Born again Chrsitian , that he is NOT sure of his Faith......is as silly as trying to tell a living human being ,that he was never born.

Christians have been born again in their spirits.

That's WHY......ONCE that born again experience takes place,that a christian KNOWS that he KNOWS that he KNOWS that He KNOWS........that he is born again!!!!

Just like a babe being born into the physical world is real in his birth experience .... so also is the christian's birth experience , in the spirit.


That is why this FAITH message is so hard for the world to understand.....cause the world has not experiencn=ed that born again experience... to know what we christians are talking about.

That's because ,Tribo...... you might have had an "experience" with God......but you did not have the True LASTING BORN AGAIN EXPERIENCE with God.

you may be right about that - im not sure - nor do i care to go back and find out, although i'm not agnostic like belushi, i cannot accept to many things that born again's do. or that religion preaches - especially religions!! I'm not hung up on god's murderous way's or most of the other things - discussed allot here. im hung up on the very facts that god is not a god and jesus is not his son nor are we the only people in the universe - nor is there heaven or hell, nor does this or any god interfere with our daily lives or judge/condemn or deal with us in anyway.To me if he exsist in a way that many think of him/her - it is a creative force only - not wanting to or needing to be worshipped or thought highly of in any way - he doesnot have an ego - if he did then he would not be one i would not want to follow anyway - i can follow ego gods right here on earth. Until "religion" get's out of the way - no one will ever know the truth - and unlike you - i dont think many will see your god/jesus - in the light or faith you do - that said - i will not belittle your faith or belief, nor anyone's right to believe what they will - my concern here if any is to keep religio type use of the bible verses and related on track as to how there being used - in or out of context.
