Obama quits Chicago church after long controversy

I think it is sad because Obama has been a member of this church for 20 years and to have to give up his spiritual family had to be a hard decision.

What is so sad about it? Trinity is a very radical, controversial and I might add a bit racist, church and has been, everyone knows it! Obama has admitted to it, he stayed with that church for 20 years. Now after his FRIEND, Father Flager did his disgraceful act in God's house, Obama, if he wants to have a minsicule of a chance at the Presidency, HAD to get out - he had absolutely NO OTHER CHOICE. NOT because he wanted, because he HAS to put on a new "SUIT" and convince people he is not like the radical, controversial church he held on to for twenty (20) years. A hard task to do; birds of a feather flock together. Father Flager has been reprimanded by the Catholic Church and I do believe more "being spoken to" is in store for him. I can only imagine what Pope Benedict XVI would have done had he been there and witnessed the atrocity committed by this Father Flager!

Again, my view on Obama and Trinity Church in Chicago 'BIRDS OF A FEATHER FLOCK TOGETHER.' Is that the type of person you want running the USA?

I sure do NOT.

What's so sad about it? Wouldn't you be sad if you had to give up your spiritual family after being with them for a long time?

I don't care if he's running for president or not, it's still sad.

Whats the difference Lindy?
McCain rejected endorsements from two influential but controversial televangelists that he was associated with, and Ive already shown you where Billy Graham made racist statements.
Hagee a LONG time friend of McCain said, God sent Adolf Hitler to help Jews reach the promised land.
And another right wing nut ball evangelical preacher, Rod Parsley, said the religion Islam was inherently violent.
Pat Robertson, who claims he can heal people has to be one of the worst IMO.

The most important lesson in all this is that of the founding fathers. Religion has no place in Politics in America!

What I fail to understand is the letter of resignation? Why do you have to write a letter of resignation, and release it to the press? If I did not agree with my church of choice, I would just quit going and be done with it. I mean, WTF? Do you have to sign a contract to be a member of some churches? I really don't understand, unless he just wanted to make it obviously public that he was quitting for political reasons. If the latter was the case, he is one sorry hypocrite.

YES IT DOES!

Now, sit down cause I am going to knock your socks off - I cannot tolerate Rod Parsley.

Don't ever lie about Billy Graham. If what you say were (were meaning contrary to fact) true, do you really think a big tadoo would not have been made? I have followed Billy Graham since grade school. NEVER has a racist word come out of his mouth. End of discussion Fanta cause this is one subject that I will not tolerate.

Really, Fanta, you MUST admit that things are take out of context deliberately.

And, remember, Jesus loves you!!

Politicians and diapers have one thing in common. They should be changed regularly and for the same reason.

BZZZZ....WRONG! Not according to the founding fathers. They learned that the best govt. was one nation under God. That the only way we would maintain good govt. was by being a "good" people. Good people learned how to live together in harmony by the word of God of the BIBLE. Guess what? It worked too until we gave credibility to all sorts of thinking. We disgressed & continue to.... talk about a sad site.

There are alot of walking dead around. Don't tell me people don't need God & that He has no place in politics. He sure does to keep HUMANS honest. But then some here would have to start believing the truth. How resfreshing that would be.

So did Al Gore & his wife Tipper. They caved like cheap cameras.

The whole vote debackle that he won Fla was such a joke. He was so pathetic to push that as far as he did. I have a bridge to sell all those who believe that lie. then again, they can't even do something as simple as voting.

What are WE coming to? What's that say about many Americans?

He should have left 20 years ago, but then he wouldn't have gotten the political power he got from this church that got him to state and then federal Congress and now as a top contender for the Presidency. It was all done originally for politically purposes, and as that usually goes, it has come back to bite him in the butt.

John McCain has had similar problems with controversial preachers who backed him, who he has had to renounce.

I think the press and both campaigns should have a truce on these kinds of revelations, which really do nothing to contribute to the political discussion of the real issues affecting this country.

Personally, I think the people push these things way to far in their "search" for the dirty laundry. If this all happened before the real battle begins what is next? It is going to get so bad throughout the summer and fall that we are all going to wish we had new candidates to pick from by then. As ALL CANDIDATES HAVE DIRTY LAUNDRY, DIRTY AFFILIATIONS, ETC.... No one is pristine.

As for religion in government, the founding fathers may have included his name for reverence of the documents they were writing but they knew dam well that it had to stay out of the government. If religion gets a good foothold in our government we will be like the middle east, religion sects bombing each other for power. In order for the government to be fair to all religions, it can claim none. That is fact.

BZZZZ....WRONG!
Congress inserted the words "under God" into the pledge in 1954, not the founding fathers!
