The Pledge of allegiance wasn't even around until 1892, and then the phrase Under God wasn't in it!
1892 The pledge, written by socialist editor and clergyman Francis Bellamy, debuts September 8 in the juvenile periodical The Youth's Companion. He wants the words to reflect the views of his cousin, Edward Bellamy, author of "Looking Backward" and other socialist utopian novels. It reads: "I pledge allegiance to my Flag and the Republic for which it stands; one nation indivisible, with liberty and Justice for all." |

Obama quits Chicago church after long controversy http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080531/ap_on_el_pr/obama I think it is sad because Obama has been a member of this church for 20 years and to have to give up his spiritual family had to be a hard decision. Lindyy ![]() The most important lesson in all this is that of the founding fathers. Religion has no place in Politics in America! BZZZZ....WRONG! Not according to the founding fathers. They learned that the best govt. was one nation under God. That the only way we would maintain good govt. was by being a "good" people. Good people learned how to live together in harmony by the word of God of the BIBLE. Guess what? It worked too until we gave credibility to all sorts of thinking. We disgressed & continue to.... talk about a sad site. There are alot of walking dead around. Don't tell me people don't need God & that He has no place in politics. He sure does to keep HUMANS honest. But then some here would have to start believing the truth. How resfreshing that would be. BZZZZ....WRONG! Congress inserted the words "under God" into the pledge in 1954, not the founding fathers! Also, a belief in God does NOT keep all humans honest. There are a lot of hypocrites in all walks of life, not just politicians, who, thinking they are God's anointed, do whatever they damn please no matter who gets hurt. Just like the Sanhedrin in the time of Jesus who thought they were God's Chosen, but paid Judas Iscariot thirty pieces of silver to betray Jesus. Or the genocidal Crusaders during the Middle Ages who killed people or the Inquisitors in Spain who tortured people to try to get them to convert to Christianity. History is full of failed theocracies! The United States does not NEED a theocracy! |

It is because of those three words being added that children are not permitted to say the pledge of alligiance in school today.
If they would remove them, kids could learn patriotism in school again. ![]() But nooooooo, ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
