Posting one's first post is difficult to do. But..to be shot down when you have finally dared to do it... He was banned. Karma. I always wonder, though, how many people are sitting at home reading the forums, and never post, simply because of the way they see people treated at times. Seriously, if you just happened to stumble onto this site, and read the forums at the wrong time, or the wrong day, you could be excused for thinking this site was not particularly friendly. It takes time to get the full impact of how so many of us interact on a consistent basis with each other here. It takes time to get to know individuals, to know who's who, and who is open to being approached, who is friendly, who is helpful, who is safe to talk to. You can't do it in a day or two. And I think sometimes that some of the lurkers might not stick around long enough to see all the good stuff that happens here. Like I say, though, it's better than it used to be. The cliques are smaller and more marginalized, and less effective because the non-clique members have learned to ignore them. |

...and an English snob.
...and a baseball snob. ...and a music snob. ...and a political snob. ...and a car snob. But I'm not overall really a snob-snob. Weird, huh? (= |

JSH before: friendly place where all the threads were friendly, and everybody was invited into the conversation. JSH now: close circles of friends, in close threads, where newbies are usually (read this word "usually" which means most of the times, but not always) ignored. hey now .. I never intentionally ignore anyone .. |

There are a couple of small cliques, but they're eminently ignorable because they never post anything of substance. They may appear to be "bigger" then they really are, because a few of them post quite a lot. If you're not part of their cabal, and you post in a thread started by one of them, you will be ignored, unless another non-member is in that thread. An ignore user feature would be great. (Provided of course that I am not that user. ) |

I do know what you mean, Miguel; I have wandered into a thread now and again where no matter how witty my repartee was, it was ignored because I wasn't one of them. But most people on here are not like that. ok sorry didn't mean to flatter you.... it's just true |
